  1. Well, BUcks shot 6-30 from three in game one, and are 6-31 in game 3. I guess lightning does strike twice.
  2. I would just say bad, but strange is another way to put it. I was going to say ugly. Bad. Strange. These are all apt descriptors.
  3. I mean, Bud needs to just tell him, stop shooting 3's. It was fine when they had him shoot one or two a game to keep defenses honest with him out around the perimeter, but he's just wasting possessions in a must win game.
  4. 9 points from anyone aside from Giannis and Midds. Ugly
  5. I was disappointed they didn't/couldn't keep Brogdon, but he made it pretty clear he didn't want to be here and be the 4th option. As it is, I think DDV can grow into the role that Brogdon played, and do it just as well, but that doesn't help us at all right now. It also doesn't replace the picks we used to get Holliday.
  6. It's subject to change on an every 6 minute evaluation.
  7. He's better than Bledsoe. He's been better than Bledsoe. Not sure what else to say. The Bucks have shot the ball extraordinarily bad in this series. Not sure that falls on Holliday. Game 1, if the Bucks don't shoot 20% from 3 and Giannis makes some FT's, they are in/maybe win that game. Game 2 EVERYONE played awful.
  8. Only thing keeping us in the game is the Nets shooting equally as bad. This is brutal.
  9. 3 points in almost 8 minutes.
  10. Elroy Face went 18 - 1 in 59 relief appearances in 1959. Crazy to think about. We're at a point in time with starter usage that it's not inconceivable that a reliever could hit 12-13 wins in a season here or there with the right usage. Suter frequently goes a couple innings, and he's used in the 5th/6th innings, when he's likely to pick up the win if we're up by a run or two. All that being said, I don't want the team feeding a guy wins. I want them trying to win. I'd rather Brandon Woodruff or Freddy Peralta is going 6 strong than dipping out for Brent Suter to get a win. I could see an odd statistical season where the Raptor picks up 10 - 12 - 13 wins, but I realistically don't think he'll be good enough, long enough to pick up 70+ more wins in this role.
  11. Suter will probably pitch til he's 43, since he tops out at like 84 mph.
  12. If Burnes had a drop in spin rate, it didn't affect his performance. 7 IP, 4 H, 0 ER and 13 K's with no walks last time out.
  13. I don't recall Alexander being a reach. Could be wrong on that. Also, didn't we get an extra pick for that?
  14. I'll say sometimes. But it's also the nature of the NFL that a lot of guys flunk out, so there's that too. I just hope we don't get to yet another NFC title game and get whiplash from being down 14 - 17 - 21 points in the blink of an eye yet again. Being just good enough to get their butts whooped in the conference title game is starting to feel like a rerun.
  15. I'll take the under on 25 TD's. Just a hunch. And.....mocks and draft grades. People read them, absorb them, read the scouting reports, and then when we draft a guy, we have 11 different scouting reports posted within minutes. "this guy loves the pick". "This scouting report RAVES about this guy". We pick out the stuff we like, and disregard the stuff that we don't. "this mock actually had this guy going in the 2nd round!" Eric Stokes was projected for mid 2nd, and when we picked him, we had people IMMEDIATELY jumping on the "well....to heck with the mocks, he's fast!" stuff. That's fine. Mocks are just fantasy football players who don't know anything about football. (they know more than I do, to be fair). Like Homer said, in 107 mocks, Deguera averaged mid 5th. I mean.... it wasn't one guy who was like "I think he's a fifth rounder. SOME of those guys know what they're talking about, I figure. Here's what I said, and as I said, it's my opinion. Gute reminds me of TT, in a way. He's trying too hard to be the smartest guy in the room. I didn't say "Gute sucks" or "he hasn't done a good job". But I think if we're gonna win a super bowl, he needs to (IMO!!!) stop trying to outsmart himself and GO FOR IT. That's what I've said. I honestly hope our GM isn't using mock drafts from fantasy football players. I'm pretty sure he's not. To be honest, I'm pretty sure it's not "fantasy football players" that are putting together some of these. But I'm betting when they say "most draft boards have this guy going in the fifth round", that's pretty accurate. Once they hit the field, it doesn't matter what round they were drafted in. They're all just guys. I feel like I'm straying way off topic here. Mostly which is Rodgers and the Packers and Gute and everyone being on the same page.
  16. I think everybody here wants every draft pick to be successful, whether we liked the pick or not. I think more so than they didn't like the draft pick, a lot of people were confused by the drafting of Jordan Love. I know I was. I don't dislike Jordan Love. I disliked the selection. I disliked trading up to get him. I don't dislike Deguera. He probably can be an okay or even good Hback. I'm not going to compare him to other guys and try to slot him into what I want him to be. He is what he is and he'll be whatever he is when he's healthy. I want him to be successful because he's a Green Bay packer. I can both dislike the pick, think the pick was wrong, but now I want him to be successful because he's a packer. If you're continuously taking 5th round picks in the third round, you're going to be at a talent deficit. I don't think that's what gute is doing every pick. I get it that people may not like the word reach, In this context. That's fine. But there are people who say let's take the best player available, and then when they take a guy that they want instead of the best player available, we suddenly talk about cool we covered a position of need and that's important. We want our cake and we want to eat it too. Maybe Jordan love was the best player available. But was he the best player available to a team with super bowl aspirations? I know I can look back on the draft night's thread and Facebook and twitter and almost everybody either disliked or was confused by that pick. Not everybody, but definitely a majority of us had questions about the pick. Now we are all packer fans and we are trying to circle our heads around to the justification for taking Jordan Love. Like I said. If we get offered a huge stable of draft picks for Rogers, I'll be happy if they take it. We'll suffer through a couple garbage seasons. I'll root for Jordan love to be successful. I won't expect it but I'll hope for it.
  17. The shape he keeps himself in, Lewis will probably be able to play til he's 40. (Possibly joking)
  18. One minor correction. I know you are trying to say that Deguara was a reach in an effort to support your narrative that Gute sucks, I definitely didn't say gute sucks. I want him to commit to building a winner. Now or in the future via rebuild if Aaron Rodgers isn't part of the plan. I did say that (imo) he reminds me in a way of TT in that he tries too hard to get "under the radar" guys. Every GM is trying to outsmart and be the best GM, but instead of grabbing guys because Bill Belicheck wanted them, just build a good team and stop reaching. Sometimes it works (Gary) but often it won't.
  19. It's tough to articulate (as others have pointed out) so many different viewpoints on this, but I'm going to try 1) Rodgers 2018/2019 definitely were not up to his standards. I think that some/ a lot of it was McCarthy's stale offense, and 2019 was adjusting to new guy's offense. I also absolutely agree that some of it was age related regression. which ties into .... 2) The Packers had every reason to at least think about a succession, and plan on a long term contingency *if* Rodgers decline was age related, and certainly at his age, it wouldn't be shocking 3) The Packers had just come off a 13-3 season where they made it to (but got stomped in) the NFC title game. I'm not going to put a percentage on it, but a lot of people said "we're not on the niners level". Gonna get revisionist here, but the niners didn't even make the playoffs in 2020. 4) You've got Aaron Rodgers, and you're coming off an NFC title game appearance. Decide if you're all in, or building for the future. Using your first round pick to get a guy who *probably* won't play for 3-4 years is an absolute future move. If you want to play for the Super BOwl in 2020, use that first round pick on something that helps you right now. It doesn't HAVE to be a WR, or even an offensive player, but something that helps you now. Like I said, I don't care if Aaron Rodgers wins another Super Bowl, but I DO care if the Packers do. Using a first round pick on a backup QB who probably won't play, and who isn't going to win games if he does play, when you've got Aaron Rodgers is poor asset allocation. There's people trying to justify the pick who were lambasting it the night it happened. We're all homers to a degree, but this is what I mean when I say we're being revisionist. We are Packer fans, so we wanna take the Packers side. Root for the uniform. The pick sucked. (IMO). If you're gonna roll with Rodgers, go all in, and use your picks to load up. In one way, Gute reminds me of Ted Thompson, in that he (Seems Like) (IMO) he tries to be the Smartest Guy In The Room, reaching for picks and grabbing guys projected way later than when he picks them, trying to show everyone that he knows something that they don't. I love that the Packers have been a perennial contender and almost never have to suffer through the 4-12 or 6-10 seasons, but once in a while I'd like to see them take a deep dive and go ALL IN and say "hell yeah, this is the year" and get the pieces they need instead of spending 6 million dollars on Kevin King. Getting the Smith Bro's was cool! Then spending draft picks on a qb that is training to play in 2024 and a 5th round H-back that we don't need probably wasn't cool. I'm not taking Aaron Rodgers side, I'm taking the side of "lets win a freaking super bowl while the all time great QB is still a Packer".
  20. Both of the 7th inning games were of a double header, which means he closed the game, like it was the “9th”. I mean, come on dude. This isn’t hard information to look up. Fair enough. It was looked up... just didn’t remember the 7th inning double header was there last year too. Do you think he will pitch more than one inning this season? They've already said he's not a multi-inning guy.
  21. If Vogelbach could hit another dinger here or there and get that SLG up over .400 - .425, I could live with his .325-ish OBP. He takes his walks plenty. I'd obviously prefer a 1B that could OPS over .700 or so, but he's at least getting on base, even though he runs like a MKIV tank.
  22. Hader had 21 appearances last year, and 17 times he finished the game. So as the previous poster said, he "basically" only pitched the 9th last year. He pitched 19 innings in 21 appearances. Nothing is absolute, but the stats suggest that the 9th inning of games the Brewers lead (in save or tie situations) is going to *predominantly* be his usage.
  23. Hader is the closer. There's a 0% chance that Counsell, Stearns, or someone associated with the organization is going to come out and say "We only use him in the 9th as per an agreement with Josh and his agent". That is just not going to happen. If a reporter asked that, they aren't going to answer it. Reporters generally aren't going to ask questions like that because they already know that closers come in in the 9th inning with a 3 run lead or not, because conventional baseball wisdom says "that's how it is", even if it actually doesn't make sense. They might ask questions about Hader's usage, but they're not going to ask if his usage is related to his contract status.
