  1. I like how the announcer says "Bobby Portis has primarily scored his points shooting the three this year". 1.1 three pointers per game, and 11.4 ppg. It's easy to look this stuff up.
  2. Once again, opening up a big lead early, and just putting the hammer down. Kinda get the feeling they took that 4-1 loss personal last year.
  3. Got a feeling they're gonna crack down on that as the season rolls on.
  4. This is - I think - going to be huge. In one way, it sucks. I really liked Bled, but you could just see in two seasons worth of playoff series that it wasn't just a bad game or two... he kinda shrank in the spotlight. Jrue, I've watched two playoff games, and he just looks like he's turning his game up a notch. I mean, even if he's just normal Jrue Holliday, that's a huge step up from what we got in the playoffs from Bledsoe.
  5. got the big lead early and never let the heat back into it.
  6. This is why you shouldn't try to judge how a series is going to go based on the first game. Bucks got smoked by the Celts 2 years ago in game 1 and then proceeded to wipe the floor with them for the next four games. Miami could make adjustments and make this tough, they're a good team, but this is the whole reason the Bucks went and got Forbes and Tucker. If Miami wants to wall off the interior, we have the shooters now to make that strategy hurt. And the difference between playoff Bledsoe and playoff Jrue is night and day.....wow.
  7. 11 - 19 from 3 just a few minutes into the 2nd quarter. Bombs away....
  8. To be fair, this year across all of MLB the average is 3.35 relief appearances per team per game, so I don't know how much of a problem pitching changes really are. We have to assume that at least some of them are in between inning pitching changes as well. Throwing out last year, going back to 2019, it was 3.41 relief appearances per game, so the 3 batter minimum rule is doing what it's supposed to do, albeit at a very minimal rate. I think a pitch clock and enforcing batters to stay in the batters box and not go through the elaborate in between pitch rituals would be the biggest time cutter.
  9. Yelich isn't going to be 18/19 yelich, but if he can be 280/375/500 or therabouts we'll probably be ok.
  10. Keep him away from hitting LHP and that would help moderately. Shaw is only ops-ing 677 vs Rh pitchers so he's kinda just bad.
  11. maybe his keyboard is missing a shift key. Never know.
  12. Butler and Bam shot horrible. Giannis didn't shoot well and was super unclutch from the line, and the whole team shot like butt from 3. In the end, glad they got away with the win.
  13. Still say bucks in 6. It's not like the heat are gonna lay down. they're a tough team.
  14. What a dumb way to lose a game. Miss a dozen free throws
  15. Robinson "what?!?!"
  16. To say that CC Sabathia is mad at TLR is a gross understatement. Warning, the audio clip is very NSFW https://www.audacy.com/670thescore/sports/chicago-white-sox/cc-sabathia-rips-tony-la-russa-in-profanity-laced-rant
  17. I am curious as to how many shows weve been at together and not known it. Ha! I was also going to go to this one. I was at the static-x/dope show at the rave. I saw static x live about 8 times. Definitely going to see Deftones/gojira in August. The new Gojira album is sublime.
  18. the (IMO) reality is that MBL has to consider that regardless of everything else considered, whether the runs per game is down, strikeouts are up, batting average is down, whatever, whatever whatever...... baseball is an entertainment product, and it feels like more and more people are using the word "unwatchable". It doesn't matter if the best strategy is to hit .215 and walk a lot and hit homeruns, but still score the same amount of runs. If you've changed the game to the point where an actual measurable percentage of fans are saying "this game sucks and I can't watch it", you (MLB) as the provider of that entertainment, should probably listen to the paying customer base. This season it's going to be hard to get a grasp on ticket sales and tv viewership numbers because of the pandemic, but if this strikeout, hitting, and scoring trend continues, it will be interesting to see if people are turned away from the game in large enough numbers for baseball to actually take measures to alter the product on the field in some meaningful way. Just 3-4-5 years ago I wouldn't have been swayed to want to change rules like moving the mound or outlawing shifts, but at this point, I will agree that the changing aesthetic of the game has made watching baseball boring, un-fun, and yes, somewhat unwatchable.
  19. I'd much rather have Green playing vs. lefties than Shaw. I'd rather see if he can than just assume he can't because a bunch of other 4A scrubs have proven that they suck.
  20. Justin Smoak has previously had 3 other seasons where he had an OPS under .700, and another season with a .705 OPS. Him putting up a .642 OPS shouldn't be considered all that weird, and something to automatically be blamed on a hitting coach. Brock Holt is being judged on 30 at bats, and that's such a ridiculously small sample size that no meaningful data should even be attempted to be taken from it. Eric Sogard well.. just sucks.
  21. I'd honestly question the wisdom of buying/using what little prospect capital they have this year to acquire players when the offense is this brutally bad. Might be a better idea to stand pat, see what kind of player acquisitions they make over the winter, and have a better idea of where they stand in 2022.
  22. I think we're kinda getting to the point with Shaw where we know that he is what he is, and he's down to a .664 OPS. I realize he could get hot, but I don't see it as super likely, or even mildly likely. I'm at the "lets throw some crap against the wall and see what sticks" stage, and Green has earned the right to be the next guy up. Put him on the 40 man and give him a go.
  23. Seconded. "Big mistake," La Russa said Tuesday. "The fact that he's a rookie, and excited, helps explain why he just was clueless. But now he's got a clue." "There will be a consequence he has to endure here within our family," the manager said. "It's a learning experience." He didn't pimp it. Didn't hot dog it. Just shut up and let the kids play. Tim Anderson must not be part of "the family" because he tweeted @ Mercedes to keep doing his thing. I can't imagine how anyone thought it would be a good idea to put TLR back in a dugout, and yet here we are.
  24. Welcome, back, we need you sorely. Fixed.
