  1. No matter how many times this gets repeated, there are people who will call what is happening as "slashing payroll" and Attanasio "crying poor" about operating at a loss last year. It kind of is what it is.

  3. I would guess the number of MLB players that are truly outraged about what the Astros did is extremely small. We want to believe all these guys really care about winning but the vast majority of them only care that the check clears. The more guys that sound off about this the more it sounds like a lot of guys are pretty pissed. I'm sure most players want to make a lot of money, absolutely, and I'm sure that's the number one priority to just about every guy in the league, but I'm reasonably sure that most of them still have a pretty strong desire to win. I don't think you can play ball half the year and not have a high drive to win.

  5. For all we know, CC may have even had a meeting with Stearns where he let him know he was going to publicly say that he thought Hader deserves to win his case. They may have mutually agreed that that was a good move. We don't know. Stearns & Counsell usually appear to be on the same page and seem to have a really good working relationship so I don't think something like this even if it wasn't pre-planned is going to really create a big rift. And the positive is Hader has a manager that he feels has his back.
  6. At least Cain didnt say he was in the best shape of his life. He recognized he was hurt a lot last year, sounds like he ackowledges a few extra pounds may have played a role in nagging injuries and performance, and basically said he has to be better.
  7. Manfred is a dolt. More or less saying "the players weren't specifically told that cheating would result in punishment" Uh..... what? Also, Carlos Correa should get hit 75 times this year, and just put his head down and jog to first base each time. His "Apology" basically consisted of "yeah, we cheated, so what? Time to move on." Saying "No comment" would have been better than what he said.
  8. Some Brewer fans may agree. Some may feel he has a legitimate complaint based on his full body of work and the idea that saves is an archaic and outdated stat.
  9. I mean, I know BMI isn't the be-all end-all of body shapes, but at 5'11", which Colon was listed at, 250 pounds is the upper limit for "obese" and Colon was listed at 285. He probably weighed closer to three hundo his last few years. Calling him morbidly obese isn't really out of line. Half that weight was probably in his lower half. I'm not going to argue the guy wasn't fat; but to me, morbidly obese means you have a hard time doing everyday tasks like bathing and using the bathroom. Morbid obesity is being 100 lbs overweight or having a 40 bmi or higher. At 285 (or likely more) and 5'11", Colon was or is certainly morbidly obese. It doesn't have to be causing him health and lifestyle problems today to be something he should take care of. And I'll again acknowledge that bmi doesnt take all body types into account and isnt perfect by any means, but at under 6', if Barolo truly was or is 285+, he is every bit the definition of morbid obesity.
  10. Morbidly?! Good grief, man.
  11. I think to a lot of people it's not going to matter that they apologize. But I think to a lot of other people it will matter how they apologize. A lot of people want to feel like the apologies mean something. There's a lot of different viewpoints here and some people don't care. The thing already happened so an apology to those people feel pretty Hollow. I get that Viewpoint. To a lot of people it's important for them to understand that these guys feel some level of Contrition or remorse. I understand that Viewpoint also. If the apology Rings Hollow or False or just feels like a prepared statement then those people aren't really getting what they feel want out of an apology. Edit to add I have no idea why my phone is just capitalizing certain random words.
  12. Sometimes a guy just has a big season. A decent handful of Astros had their best season in 2017 though, even if it was by a small margin, like Altuve.
  13. "Gonzalez posted a career-high .907 OPS in 2017. His next-highest OPS is .759 in 2015. His 23 home runs in 2017 are also seven more than he's hit in any other season." https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2875787-marwin-gonzalez-apologizes-for-astros-sign-stealing-scandal-i-feel-regret
  14. Given new info coming out Im surprised Luhnow only got a year suspension.
  15. That's just it. We've come to expect absolute dominance and greatness every night from the Bucks. A four or five point win is an indicator of some sort of weakness from our team. A 10 or 11 point win is ho-hum. I think some fans try to look at a single bad loss or maybe a narrow victory over a bad team as a flaw in the team or a flaw in the game plan. It's basketball. Sometimes the shots just don't fall. Personally I'm happy they didn't make a single move at the deadline and kept this team exactly how it is, and I'll really be shocked if they don't go to the finals.
  16. Horford and Embiid went a combined 11 of 43. Even worse, they shot 3 of 21 on 2 point baskets. The Bucks interior defense is simply crazy good. Bucks didn't play a great offensive game, but a win is a win.
  17. welcome to the NBA Zion. 5 of 19 shooting. 1 of 6 when contested by Giannis.
  18. My initial thought was "no, they shouldn't/can't suspend the players involved." A bunch of them are on other teams, it would make it hard for the Astros to field a team in 2020, etc, etc, etc. The more that comes out about this, I just .....honestly don't care. These guys suck. We suspend guys who take unregistered supplements (I get it, they know they shouldn't), and these guys were using a super sophisticated system to cheat like crazy. That jomboy video made it PLAIN as DAY what was going on. Jomboy might be a humor site, but he usually has some good and relevant commentary to go along with the hyucks. The statistics that show the percentage of pitches they heard the banging on shows not just how, but how much this system was in place. Hinch should never work in baseball again. He can say he didn't like it, and tried to stop it. Bull-oney. Dude, get out of here with that weak crap. If you're a manager and THIS is going on, you're either encouraging it, or tacitly allowing it. Suspend him and Cora and Beltran for life.
  19. Davison has been suspended one game by the Big Ten. Hopefully that sticks with him the next time he decides to punch a guy in the twig and berries. And yes, I do think his reputation, and not just that one action earned him the suspension.
  20. Phelps walks a lot of guys. I'm looking forward to the IGT posts when he walks a leadoff batter. :D
  21. In my opinion, let me be clear on that... Someone that watches that 2nd angle and doesnt see a purposeful nut shot is just being a homer. It is what it is. We all defend our guys. I dont wanna defend that. Thats not "swinging his arm" or playing hard. Guys like Davison who get the rep of being dirty players earn it by being dirty. Play hard. Dont punch guys in the dick.
  22. He was absolutely cheap shotting the groin. https://www.sbnation.com/college-basketball/2020/1/28/21111937/brad-davison-cheap-shot-wisconsin-badgers-iowa-video-dirty He wasnt fightimg through a screen. He was pulling a Grayson Allen. If anything, based on th e repetitive nature of Davisons infractions, I'd say he should be sat a game, as it has now directly lead to a situation where it influenced a game outcome.
  23. Yeah I don't see the Bucks really doing anything this year. If anything any kind of trade that would make a big impact on the rotation minutes could mess up their chemistry if anything.
  24. The Bucks might not win 70 games, but this is a 70 win team. With that being said.... Bud is what he is. I think we all know that. I remember after game 1 of the Boston series last year both Tom Ley and Burneko from Deadspin said if the Bucks didn't "adjust", that the Celtics would blow them out. The Bucks continued to do what they do, and wadded the Celtics up, and dumped them in the trash. The Bucks lost to Toronto because Toronto effectively deployed the Giannis wall, and all of MKE's shooters went ice cold, and even at that the Raptors needed OT in game 3. When you have the talent the Bucks do, I don't think it really profits you to start switching up the gameplan a lot. It's not like the Bucks are a one trick pony, with a guy like Iverson and then a bunch of nothing. The Bucks are super deep, can score a lot of ways, and on top of that, they should (and probably will) be a lot more fresh going into the playoffs this year.
