  1. I was stunned to hear this yesterday. Just a huge influence in rock and music.
  2. Let's use this thread for misc MLB news. I'm not going to split all the bobble posts off, but if everyone wants a thread to talk about Brewer-specific bobbleheads for 2020, let's just start a thread about that.
  3. Yeah, the young black girl is confirmed to be Lando's daughter, but it's never mentioned in the film. There's a lot of things in Star Wars, especially this trilogy that get confirmed in the novels and comics. I shouldn't have to consume the other media to understand what's going on. Now.... that being said, the movies were fine as a stand-alone, but there are gaps and little things that don't make sense unless you read the novels and comics. It's the same for other properties as well. I watched the first season of the Witcher on Netflix, and was somewhat confused, and someone told me "if you don't read the book or play the video game you won't get it". I shouldn't have to! Each "thing" should stand on its own. It's cool if they tie in to each other, but if I can't read/watch/play one without needing to watch or read the others, they're poorly written. If that girl is Lando's daughter, it should be mentioned in the movie. Having the director tell us in an interview after the fact is poor writing. Having it be part of a story line of a comic or tie-in novel is just merchandising that I don't want to be part of. And poor writing.
  4. Lee Evans, yeah he wasn't a thin dude. I remember his junior year (2001) it seemed like every deep ball that was thrown his way, he just went up and got. Had an absolutely monster year. 1500 yards. Unheard of for a WR at Wisconsin. He had a decent/good career in the NFL for Buffalo. I think Evans and Chris Chambers are the only two WR from Wisconsin recently that I can think of (and Al Toon haha) that have had any sustained NFL success.
  5. It doesn't really ignore it so much as it places more emphasis on MM's more recent teams. From 2007 to 2011 it seemed like MM was maybe ahead of the curve relative to other NFL coaches. From 2012 onward, I'd say he started to get passed up & left farther & farther behind. From 2014-2018 the Packers appeared in two NFCCGs. If that's getting passed up by the league there are a lot of coaches out who'd love to get passed up. Now we can relive the horror of that the 2014 game all we want and talk about his conservative nature within it, but that onside kick was headed right for Jordy Nelson's chest and that was at worst a Super Bowl losing team 99% of the time. I think people downplay the relevance of luck. I don't buy the argument of him being dated though, if anything his absence has shown that there is plenty of blame to go around on that offense. I tend to place more of the Packers failures at the feet of the guy running the show who had early onset dementia and the "team president" who let this go on for 5 years too long. In the end MM was the fall guy. Everyone had a part in their shortcoming but he is 3rd in that line behind Murphy and TT. I absolutely agree with that, but at the same time, I still think McCarthy had his fair share of the blame.
  6. It doesn't really ignore it so much as it places more emphasis on MM's more recent teams. From 2007 to 2011 it seemed like MM was maybe ahead of the curve relative to other NFL coaches. From 2012 onward, I'd say he started to get passed up & left farther & farther behind. I think McCarthy is emblematic of a lot of NFL (and pro sports) coaches in that he's slow (or just plain refuses) to adapt when the game starts to change and pass him by. He had a system, it worked, and when it started to not work... when the game evolved he got left behind. I'll be curious to see how he's changed, or if he hasn't, in his new tenure in Dallas.
  7. I like Cephus a lot. Physical guy with good hands who can make catches in traffic. I think we tend to over-value Badgers (a lot.... like, an awful lot) and I've considered that, but he does make a lot of sense for the Packers. He can stretch the field and our WR corps is in dire need of depth and upgrade right now.
  8. Cabrera might have just wanted to be in WAS. he's made 60 mil in his career.
  9. There's never zero risk in a high dollar signing. There's higher risk in multi-year signings. There's a higher risk yet for a guy of Donaldson's age. I'm not even saying it's not potentially worth it, but saying it's "zero risk" is false. A team that commits 110 million to Donaldson for four years is assuming a fair amount of risk.
  10. Ohio St. played worse?? Badgers played good defense. Turned it over less. Rebounded well. And stuff... They're going to get a win over the #5 team in the country. They did something right....
  11. I can't see Stearns throwing 3 years at a 32 year old .715 OPS platoon bat. I could see bringing the guy in as a one year stop gap, but I just don't see a reason to go multi year with someone like Holt. I like his versatility, and he takes a walk. I don't like his lack of power. He's an interesting name... I just don't like the idea of multi year deals for slap hitting platoon guys like Holt. He would, and should be easily replaceable in '21.
  12. Fumbling a punt deep in your own territory early in the 3rd quarter while leading in back to back games in the Big Ten Championship game against the #3 team in the country and in the Rose Bowl against the #6 team in the country. I don't know how he can go back to campus. The thought that honestly went through my mind was, check his and his family member's bank accounts. Wouldn't be the first time in the Rose Bowl. I heard from a reliable source it was the Iowa-Washington Rose Bowl in the early 90's that the Iowa punter was paid off, and he basically did the same thing in that game. My source heard it before the game too - was told to bet the house on Washington. Check the O-line then too, because as others have said, that punt was going to get blocked. He still should have held the ball. Oregon gets it at the spot instead of where he dropped it, but that was a jailbreak on that play. That's not all on Lotti.
  13. This is all I'm saying. That flag (that shouldn't have been thrown) took away any possibility Wisconsin had of doing anything meaningful the rest of the game. It didn't decide the game, but it turned it into a 57 minute game, essentially. No, Wisconsin wasn't assured that they would score, but they were robbed of an opportunity to try.
  14. If they get the first down and the guy downs himself or runs out of bounds, so be it, but don't stop him from scoring or push him out of bounds.
  15. LET the guy score. That is your ONLY chance here.
  16. Yep. 70% completion rating, but there's nothing about that that feels exciting or compelling or like it should keep Mertz on the bench if he's the real deal. Heck, Alabama benched Jalen Hurts for Tua, we can surely bench Jack Coan, right?
  17. Badgers made a lot of mistakes and I'm not going to blame one flag, but that particular flag took away their last chance to do anything meaningful in this game. That sucks.
  18. THat flag probably cost the Badgers any real shot at the game. Unreal.
  19. These outs are 30 yard throws to try to gain 7 yards. Just low percentage plays.
  20. We catch a break here. Right in his hands.
  21. If they lose this game, there's a whole lot of self inflicted mistakes that they're going to look back at and say woulda coulda. Hopefully they get another shot with the ball here.
  22. That's ok.. if Oregon can somehow get something going on offense, another FG gets the lead back.
  23. Ducks are selling out up the middle.
  24. He's been physical as heck with the Ducks DB's, and has made some great hands plays. I'd agree that he's the MVP (at this point)
