  1. The Bucks started 6 and 3. They are 34 and 3 since then.
  2. As Homer previously stated in the thread, even without Giannis, this could be a 50 win team. Super deep team. If they continue to manage Giannis' minutes the way they have, they might not have anyone averaging 30 mpg by the end of the season. He's under 31 minutes right now, and he's the only guy averaging 30 minutes right now.
  3. If you made a Venn Diagram, the overlapping circles of people who wrinkle their nose in disgust when they hear "NBA culture" are the same people that love brushback pitches and beanball wars and can't stand the antics of guys like Yasiel Puig, and love guys like Brian McCann who "play the game the right way".
  4. I've been wondering about this. I guess we'll see what starts happening in spring training or early in the season. I almost wonder if some of their guys are getting hit in the legs/butt/back but not in the head/upper body area if the league just stays out of it for the time being. A lot of players are pretty p/o'd right now.
  5. I dont care that Jeter wasnt unanimous. Let me be clear in that. I think that the ballot casters who dont vote for guys so they dont gonin unanimously are dumb. Come up with a reason to vote no for a guy. Not so they dont go in 200%
  6. If someone can present a compelling case for not voting for someone then that's fine. But when they come out and say I didn't vote for them just so they're not a unanimous selection that's stupid
  7. Yeah, Verlander is a hypocrite d-bag. He talks a good game, and I know it's been said 10 times before in this thread, but there's not a single guy in that clubhouse that didn't know what was going on. Dude has gone on multiple rants about peds and cleaning up the game and getting cheaters out of the game, and his club was doing this. Like I said, these guys learned nothing from the Ryan Braun saga.
  8. My thoughts exactly after that 4 yard loss on the screen pass. Gotta start taking some shots, but I don't know how they can when we can't block that pass rush at all.
  9. Came for "game over" posts. Am not disappointed.
  10. Bregman and Altuve didn't learn a lot from the Ryan Braun saga. Just plead the 5th. If you vehemently deny there's 2 things that can happen. One, people just think you're lying. Two (and potentially worse), if more comes out after you stood up and said "we didn't do this stuff" and you did...... oof. Just say "no comment to that question, thanks".
  11. Yeah, the Nets court definitely pops on TV in a unique way. Kyrie was right though, they need a couple two tree more pieces. Kyrie has been in the league a while and still hasn't learned a dang thing about being a leader. He sure likes to use the term about himself a lot though.
  12. Middleton had 2 turnovers tonight, and averages 2.5 to's per 36 minutes. I know, he's fine. It's a personal bias, I'm sure. You can't judge a SG on turnovers the way you would judge a PG or even Giannis, though, he just doesn't handle the ball nearly as much. I don't honestly understand the amount of criticism the guy gets on here. He's fat, he's a turnover machine, he plays crappy defense, and yet his numbers and advanced numbers all say he's actually a pretty solid player. I get it, he's overpaid for what he does. And everything indicates that the ownership team and GM fully, completely understood that part of what they were paying him for was to keep Giannis happy. if G stays, then it was 100% worth it. We're on pace to win 70 games, so as the 2nd fiddle to the best player, he must be doing something right. I just don't get all the flack the guy gets. *shrug*
  13. Middleton had 2 turnovers tonight, and averages 2.5 to's per 36 minutes.
  14. Bucks squashed that quick. Celtics were gonna make a run. I wasn't worried.
  15. 12 of 15 fom 3 for the half. I almost kind of feel like the Bucks should have a bigger lead.
  16. I have Youtube tv and its been pretty great for live sports. The worst thing i can ssy is theres about a 15 to 30 second delay. I can live with that at 50 dollars a month.
  17. Lots of random chatter that the Mets may fire Beltran.
  18. I think (again), there's a difference between being skeptical, and saying 'they look lost out there' or "they're really struggling" or some such stuff. Bucks have one guy averaging more than 30 mpg (Giannis) and he's playing 31 mpg. THey got a bunch of role players playing a lot of time, and they're *still* playing historically good basketball. If people want to be skeptical, I mean, that's their right. This Bucks isn't the Glenn Robinson Bucks. Giannis and Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez didn't do anything to earn that doubt.... but I understand it. They made a deep run last year, and came up short. Hopefully they learned from it, as great teams often and usually do. But, if someone's looking at a 36-6 team with a historically good ppg differential and a top 5 offense and defensive and saying "I think this team has issues/holes/concerns" or anything else, is just basing that on historical scorn because the team hasn't won a title since 71.
  19. The NIT is absolutely not the ceiling for this team. They obviously have problems with guard play, and they'll lose some games they shouldn't but they have several nice resume building wins and they're second in the Big Ten right now. If they can pull off a win in the Breslin Center Friday they are ranked, no question about it.
  20. Which is why the Brewers trading for a Yelich or a Narvaez almost always makes more sense than getting into the deep end of the pool in FA. I guess we'll see what happens in the next CBA and see if that changes the paradigm for teams like the Brewers and Royals and Rays.
  21. This is the idea that's been running around in my head for a while. Staying out of this free agent class is like going to the car lot, and just deciding you don't like what's on the lot at that particular time, or lot, and deciding you don't have to buy a car today, at that particular lot. It doesn't mean you are choosing not to spend money, you're just not spending it today, because nothing was the right fit or the right price. I think a lot of fans want their teams to max their budgets EVERY SINGLE YEAR! and even though it means every now and then we'll have a year like this, where we fill the roster with a bunch of value deals, I don't want a GM who just spends spends spends spends to max the budget and makes fans happy with name moves. If he has the foresight to see the future deals that make sense in 2021 or 2022, then sit one off-season out and do your very best to still build a contender. A lot of fans are going to be frustrated by that approach, but when you're operating with a less-than-RedSox budget, it's really not a bad way to be.
  22. I have a feeling these GM's know how the market is going to play more than we fans do. I think if anything, Stearns may have had a few trades that he anticipated playing out that didn't work out, and that left him filling holes with guys like Sogard and Gyorko. I could be wrong..... who knows.
  23. This is last year in the AL and NL. The top 10 AL position players by WAR, and age -- 1) Bregman 8.4 age 25 2) Trout 8.3 age 27 3) Semien 8.1 age 28 4) Betts 6.8 age 25 5) Chapman 6.7 age 26 6) Springer 6.2 age 29 7.) Lemehieau 6.0 age 30 8.) Polanco 5.7 age 25 9.) Judge 5.4 age 27 10.) Devers 5.3 age 22 The oldest guy in that group is 30 NL 1. Bellinger • LAD 9.0 Age 23 2. Yelich • MIL 7.1 Age 27 3. Marte • ARI 6.9 Age 25 4. Story • COL 6.4 Age 26 5. Rendon • WSN 6.3 Age 29 6. Donaldson • ATL 6.1 Age 33 7. Muncy • LAD 5.7 Age 28 8 Arenado • COL 5.7 Age 28 9. Acuna • ATL 5.5 Age 21 10. Alonso • NYM 5.0 Age 25 Exactly 2 guys age 30 or older put up a 5.0 WAR or better. Donaldson was one of them. Going forward, as he ages in to his mid and late 30's, it's not a smart gamble for a team like the Brewers to expect that kind of production going forward at that price. Donaldson missed a season's worth of games between '17 and '18, and he's going to be 34. I'm glad the dude got paid. I think the CBA screwed good dudes like this that didn't come up until their mid to late 20's. I'm just glad it's not the Brewers. when he's 37 and a 1.5 - 2.0 WAR player, 23 mil per won't look as good.
  24. Luke Kuechly retires at age 28. https://www.panthers.com/news/luke-kuechly-announces-retirement
  25. Agree they could have. My argument is the Brewers shouldn't.
