  1. Hahahahaha! Sit down Manny. You can ask for time, but you don't always automatically get it.
  2. This strike zone is getting a bit larger as the game goes on..... for both pitchers, which is fine, but we're down a run, and we're not going to score if everything is a strike.
  3. Ok.... listening to Hill grunt like a tennis player is starting to get on my nerves.
  4. Here's a group warning guys...... this is happening in every game thread. Telling other posters to "go away" isn't cool. Gonna issue temp bans if it continues. If you don't want to see someone's posts, scroll past them, or put them on block.
  5. Dodger's fans are like "He was really struggling with his command, really disappointed we didn't capitalize and get more runs that inning".
  6. That is the main way MLB can try to swing the games in the Dodgers favor. Chacin just got a 3-1 strike call on a pitch 4 inches off the plate.
  7. Chryst and Mike McCarthy are two peas in a stubborn, uninventive pod. This Wisconsin team came into the season with such high hopes. Looking like another 7-8 win year and a crappy bowl again. Why they don't give any of these young QBs time is anyone's guess. It is quite obvious that Hornibrook is never going to be even a mid-level college QB. I can't stand his slow wind-up and release and pop gun arm I mean, the last four years they've won 13, 11, 10, and 11 games. The last time they won 7 games was 2008. I mean it's semantics, but you're making it sound like 7-8 wins is an every year occurence. Is the QB play great? No, it's awful. Should something be done about it? Yup. But they did JUST come off an undefeated regular season, barely lost in the BIG10 title game, and knocked off Miami in the Orange Bowl, after playing in the Cotton Bowl the year before. I'd love to see them step up and get in the playoff, but saying "another 7-8 win year with a crappy bowl again" is a gross misrepresentation of where this program has been recently.
  8. To echo others, when you have a 3 run lead going into the late innings, you kind of already start feeling like "this game is a win", and people already feel like we're heading to LA with a 2 game lead. Blowing the game is deflating. Yeah, it could be 1 to 1, which isn't the worst thing in the world, and they only need to win 1 in LA to bring it back to Milwaukee, which they can and should do..... but that's not the point. You just get to a point where with a 3 run lead in the late innings, that game "feels" like you've already emotionally banked it as a win, and it didn't happen (or doesn't look like it will be......hey, they could still come back and win), and as a fan, that's really emotionally deflating.
  9. This would imply that some zombies are homeowners - or at least renters - and have their brains delivered by Uber Eats. Ok. hobo zombie.
  10. There is no such thing as a 12 man staff. Look at any page on B-R. Most teams get through a season with 25 - 30 pitchers, or more. Ostensibly, you might have 12 men on your pitching staff on any given day, but teams have really learned how to utilize the 40 man roster, options, and all the rules to shuffle players back and forth to continually have fresh arms on game day rosters.
  11. The reality of situational baseball being what it is, Jeffress (and Kratz) had to know that Barnes was not looking to swing during that AB. Jeffress did not pitch "bad" that inning. The hits were bloopers and bleeders, but you CANT WALK A GUY with the bases loaded when the batter has made it as obvious as he can that he's not going to swing. Throw a strike, and take your chances. Throwing a "good pitch" that would normally get someone to swing and make weak contract or swing and miss is not a good pitch if the guy was NEVER going to swing in the presented scenario.
  12. Problem is everyone knew he was looking for a walk. Its only a great pitch if theres a possibilty that he will swing.
  13. He's actually 61 years old.
  14. That's funny because earlier in the season Deadspin, and I believe it was the same writer, had an article basically taking Jabs at the Phillies and specifically Gabe kapler for his use of advanced metrics in his defensive shifting. I don't know what data set the Phillies are or were using for their shifts, but it clearly didn't work for them as they were near the bottom of the lead in defensive runs lost. Just in this three-game series against Colorado, I couldn't help but be amazed at how many Rockets the Rockies batters continually hit that were right at where a Brewers Fielder was already standing. Don't need to have a ton of range if you already know where to stand.
