  1. https://deadspin.com/the-brewers-have-played-this-all-perfectly-1829606947 The best part of this article is where Erik Kratz is referred to as a "journeyman goofus".
  2. I'm in the same boat as a lot of you after reading these posts. I used to live and die in every win and loss. Man... Those mid-90s Packers teams, even regular-season losses I would carry those around with me for two or three days. When the 2011 Brewers lost to the cards, I was bummed for a while but again perspective hase allowed me to appreciate what a great season that was, allowed me to appreciate how fun That season was, and dwell on the positive rather than the negative. Watching highlights of like the walk-off hits, Nyjer Morgan bringing in Gomez, watching Miller Park erupt, the place shaking so badly that people couldn't even record properly on their cell phones, that's awesome. We don't get to experience that. Dwelling on the fact we didn't make it to the series? Naaaah. And again this year, if we don't make it, we had a lot of Great Moments that will be great memories,. Obviously I want them to win I would love to see a World Series victory in my lifetime, but seeing three trips to the playoffs in the last 10 years when there had been one in my lifetime previously (1981 doesnt count) ... I'm pretty happy, all things considered
  3. Almost like teams in the playoffs tend to have good pitchers....
  4. Okay this is completely off the rails.
  5. Jeffress usually sits 96or 97. He hit 95 a few times that inning. As far as the mental side of it, he came back and still got out of a bases loaded jam allowing only one run. I suspect he will be good to go when called on.
  6. Let's stop with the "gotcha" and self-congratulatory posts and the bickering, and talk about the 25 man roster. I'm not in the mood to start splitting threads tonight guys. So can the crap please.
  7. One that weighs about 12 pounds and has an engraving that begins with the letters NL. Nap Lajoie's bowling ball? This is some quality work right here.
  8. Anymore badgering, berating, or belittling fellow posters over who they sell their tickets to is going to be met with bans. This subject is done let's talk about the games, the schedules, and other things, but this belittling other posters for what they choose to sell or do what their tickets is done. It's finished. Cool??
  9. Yount was a 1.8 Dwar in 82, and a 10.5 WAR overall. At the time, Yount's 82 was one of the greatest, if not arguably the greatest offensive season ever put up for a shortstop, to go alone with superb defense. Yount was 3 WAR better than any other position player in the entire league that year as well.
  10. Im inclined to let gio go back out. Bullpen had to throw 6 high stress innings yesterday. IF we have to play tomorrow and/or tuesday some of those guys need to be fresh.
  11. I make myself feel better by reminding myself that a bad OBP doesn't mean a zero OBP. Right, I get that. We get that. To casual fans (like my wife) it doesnt make any sense. To us, its frustrating.
  12. My wife: "the tigers have like three guys with an on base over .280 why are we letting them score 5 runs a game?!?!?!" Um.... No idea.
  13. Yeah.... This series has been way too tough for them given their lineup is a bunch of punch and judy .625 ops slap hitters aside from Castellanos.
  14. Going solely by WAR (yeah yeah yeah, I know WAR isn't the sole measuring stick of player value), Davis is the 5th best position player on the A's. Chapman (who will likely garner some actual MVP points) comes in at a really nice 8.3 WAR Chapman 8.3 Jed Lowrie 4.8 Marcus Semien 4.2 Matt Olson 4.2 Khris Davis 2.9 Blah blah blah RBI's (team stat)... he hits below .250 and carries a low OBP. He provides a role for the team he's on. He's a middle of the order power bat. That in no way, shape or form, makes him the MVP of the entire league.
  15. Ok....how does one have "arguably" the highest obp? They either do or dont. Secondly ....any national publication pushing Khris Davis as an mvp candidate should have their credentials revoked.
