  1. When, in high school??
  2. Bucks arent just winning, they are blowing everyone out. Granted...the competition so far has been sub-par but they habe absolutely been taking care of business.
  3. Agreed unless we get a deGrom like pitcher... someone who can avg 7 innings per start and give the bullpen a sort of rest every fifth day. Should maybe amend this to 6 IP per start. 7 inning starters don't even exist anymore. Unless you get Scherzer....
  4. Its hard to believe this team was picked by many to be a playoff team. I really like cryst. He seems like a genuinely good dude, but he is the most conservative coach ever. As others have said, the margin for error at UW is non existant. You have to take chances when they arise and he just never does.
  5. https://deadspin.com/bucks-owner-wes-edens-is-being-subpoenaed-in-the-wall-s-1829645816 It doesn't sound like Edens is being implicated..... But just having your name attached to these kinds of articles is all kinds of bad publicity that you simply can't have around your team. Gross. Be careful who you're hanging out with, I guess? Wow.
  6. Ultimately the coaches probably don't have a lot to do with individual success and failure, but with the offense, I think a new voice certainly can't hurt.
  7. Yeah, I was here (on BF) for his dad's epic meltdown. I didn't know we got mentioned on Deadspin! That's awesome!
  8. Through only four games, the Bucks are attempting 41 threes per game. Last year they attempted 24.7 3s per game. They have finally gotten with the times, and have a coach that understands the three isn't just a novelty, it's a weapon.
  9. So we dont want kids seeing a crotch chop, but we are totes ok with kids seeing grown ass men retaliating with physical violence when their feelings are hurt? :/ At least dont say its because of the kids.
  10. The guy did a crotch chop and were acting like he commited a felony. Was it necessary? No. I just feel like suddenly calling the guy piece of Filth, and a garbage human being is super over-the-top. We have athletes beating women.... and we have pages of a game thread dedicated to retaliatory physical violence for a crotch chop. I guess I just don't even know where to start with that. Everyone on this forum still bags on Brian McCann for blocking the plate when Carlos Gomez basically acted the same way after hitting a homerun. No, it wasn't the crotch chop, but Gomez was a clown on the field, who did stuff that infuriated opponent. Bat flips, gestures, staredowns, you name it, Gomez did it. But it's okay when it's our guy, right?
  11. Mlb has put out ads this postseason explicitly stating that they want their exciting young stars to be exciting and flamboyant.
  12. It's easy to say "if batters did x,y,z, they would be more successful", well of course. If Ryan Braun would just hit homers every time up, he'd be the MVP, and break Barry Bonds record. Not choking up with two strikes, trying to elevate the ball, going for maximum exit velocity, this is not just stuff batters are deciding on their own, that is something all the data suggests maximizes potential for success. And yes, it increases strikeout rates quite a bit. Guys don't want to go up there and hit a weak grounder to 2nd base, they just don't. This is how they are being trained and taught to hit now. This is how baseball is being played now. Guys like Rizzo, or Ben Zobrist, or a handful of players in the league might have a different approach, but by and large, guys are going up there, and swinging as hard as they can until they hit the ball fair, or they strike out. That is coached. This is the game. It's not entirely aesthetically pleasing to a lot of fans. This year saw more strikeouts in MLB than any other season. It's not just Brewer hitters. NL teams struck out on average, 1400 times. 8.6 K's per game, per team. One can argue that this isn't the way baseball should be played, but it is how it is played. And it sucks when you're on the losing end of it. But guys just aren't going to go up there and give up at bats to move runners. That isn't even hardly part of the lexicon anymore. The paradigm has completely shifted.
  13. I think Stearns will take another look at SP, and again try to find someone to plug into the rotation. I know we have a ton of options (Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta, Davies, Chacin, Anderson, Nelson), but I just have a gut feeling that Stearns is going to try again to find a #2 or #3 type guy. He may find the prices too high again this winter (likely), but I suspect he'll at least test the waters. I think he'll add one more piece to the bullpen, as he usually does. It will be interesting to see how Jeffress bounces back from his (frankly brutal) post-season performance. I think Stearns will go after a power lefty/loogy, and be done with Jennings and Cedeno. Jennings was ok against lefties, but it just seemed like he never got the big outs when absolutely needed. I know perception isn't reality always, but I feel like the team needs a loogy that's better than Jennings. The fact that he wasn't on the post-season roster is pretty telling, IMO. I have no idea what Stearns thinks or may do about 2B. Paying 10mil for Schoop is going to be awfully steep if he doesn't bounce back in a major way. If he's even halfway between 2017 and 2018 Schoop, he could be worth it. .260 with 25 homers and a .750 OPS would be fine, as he plays solid D and proved to be more than capable of handling SS in a pinch. Also suspect he'll find a new hitting coach. You can say what you will about the impact a hitting coach does or doesn't have, but I think Darnell Coles makes a fine scapegoat.
  14. With strikeout rates being what they are in todays game, bunting is a waste, unless you're doing it with your pitcher. Putting a man on third with one out, to give ONE batter a chance to score a run with a grounder or flyball, just doesn't make sense. If I have a man on 2nd, give me 3 tries at a base hit, vs one try at a fly ball, and one try at a basehit. Strikeout rates are just too high in the current iteration of the game to count on sac flies and the like to make bunting a viable strategy.
  15. Make sure to have it a ways away from your house. Don't give up hope yet! Four innings to go....
  16. Quick hitter. Enough with the 'game over/series over posts" Everoyne else -- Stop telling posters to "go away" Cool? Thanks!
  17. We have 15 outs left to use. Giving one up to get Hader another inning in which his effectiveness may already be starting to slip a bit doesn't make sense. We have to trust Jeffress, Knebel, and the rest of the pen to get through the next 4 innings.
  18. Followup: Hernandez never had a chance. He really didn't. He seemed like he knew it, too.
  19. When Aguilar goes up there and just decides he's going to swing at everything, he's extra worthless.
