  1. This isn't 'singlehandedly'. The offense failed to score. The defense gave up an unearned run. Kintzler sucked, but to say he 'single handedly' cost them the game is false.
  2. Let Smith face Montero. He made him look like a fool last night.
  3. The last 7 games the starters have a 2.72 ERA. That's wild, because it just seems like we haven't been pitching good lately. Just goes to show you that perception =/= reality.
  4. Really? WHen I heard the crack of the bat, I said "OOOOF!!!!" That ball was absolutely mashed.
  5. This platoon is working out great. Gennett hits about .100 vs. lefties, and we might as well have a wheelbarrow play defense instead of Weeks.
  6. I noticed that too. He sounds downright pissed. Again, I don't like RRR as a manager, but at least when he talks, gosh, he can enunciate, you can understand him, and he doesn't sound like a totally drunk beer-league softball guy who just got done with an all day tourney. The difference between him and Gibson is night and day.
  7. But, but, but.... He's a former player! He's tough and gritty....and stuff! These are the types of guys that make great managers......... right? Right????
  8. I am in San Diego let me know what he says. If he is honest he will say he did it on purpose and not lie[/quote They're playing GIbson's presser right now. He's being a dirty liar-pants.
  9. The Lohse HBP was absolutely unintentional. Gibson is one of those guys that thinks you have to hit "one of yours" every single time his guys get hit, 'just because'. That is not the proper time and place, (and I know that's not what you're saying), but that makes him, IMO, a tool. Baseball doesn't need that mindset. If someone gets hit ON PURPOSE, or for no reason, go ahead and bean someone. But there was no need for a beaning there, and the absolutely BLATANT nature of it, (and fist bumping the guy when he comes back in the dugout) makes it an absolute joke.
  10. Via Adam McCalvy - May 6th Thanks Mass.
  11. Nah, only hit Braun. Threw behind him the first time, then hit him right in the butt. Pitcher got ejected and got a fist bump from Gibson as he got into the dugout. Gibson's a tool. Baseball doesn't need guys like him anymore. He ought to be out playing beer league softball somewhere. Glad that a camera caught the fist bump. I hope he gets a 5 game vacation.
  12. Not watching the game........am I to understand Gibson had his guys hit two batters in a row.....to load the bases......in a one run game? Is "old school baseball" THAT important that retaliation is more important than winning? I don't like a lot of things Roenicke does, and I honestly wish we had a better manager, but I'm SO happy we don't get involved in the stupid retaliation games, and that Roenicke doesn't let himself get suckered into that kind of idiocy.
  13. I'm intrigued by Zarraga. How is he defensively? Is he good enough behind the plate to warrant being a regular backup? Not enough information that I can find out there on the guy. I know there was the article on him over at FG that said he projected to a 1.8 WAR for a full season (415 PA's for a catcher), but that doesn't tell me a whole lot about his overall package at defense.
  14. Lots of downed branches and stuff here (In Janesville), and my city issued gigantic garbage and recycle bins were blown a ways away, but aside from that, not much real damage. Man, was it loud......all, night, long.
  15. Until something changes, I think the lineup is fine how it is. We don't have good OBP guys. That Gomez is 3rd on the team with 21 walks after 71 games is severely bothersome. I know Braun has missed some time, but his walk rate is down considerably from his 3 year rate. Rami and Segura have over 450 PA's, and have taken a combined 16 walks. Davis has improved, and should continue to do so going forward, but this lineup is what it is. A bunch of free swingers who are not going to draw a lot of walks.
  16. The best upgrades to the bench are most likely to come from within. Caleb Gindl had a .779 OPS in extended playing time in the bigs last year. Hunter Morris would be a (probable) upgrade over Overbay. Trying to find guys like this on other rosters (and give up talent for them in the process) is silly, when we already have them. What we don't have is a guy who can readily replace Bianchi/Herrera as the utility IF guy. I'm still willing to give Herrera a chance to see if he can get that OBP up over .300 or so though. And it's not his fault that he's mis-cast as an OF'er. The problem is we have this seeming organizational philosophy that they absolutely MUST get at bats 'every day', and that somehow it will stunt their development if they're not hitting 'every day'. A guy like Gindl would get plenty of playing time. Braun really shouldn't play every single day at this point, and it wouldn't hurt to spell Davis once in a while. have a bench of Gindl Morris Maldy Herrera Schafer (who's much more suited as a 5th of/PR/defensive replacement) ..... and I think if they produce to what they're capable of, people wouldn't be griping about our bench production nearly as much as they are now.
  17. Korean bat flips are epic and awesome. They do amazeballs bat flips on foul balls sometimes.
  18. If that was Puig he would still be doing his bat flip Pff..... http://sportsnaut.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/bat-flip-i.gif
  19. Putz threw a pitch that didn't come close to hitting Maldonado. The catcher dropped it, and Maldy 'sold' it by grasping his hand. He was awarded first base. HErrera stole 3rd base, and Gibson 'challenged' that he was out. It was very very close, and the replay concluded that he was safe (good no call, IMO).. Gibson came out to argue the result of the replay, and got immediately tossed.
  20. I'm not going to lie, this is really fun to see the other team get totally screwed by bad calls like this.
