  1. Well, he worked out of it. But where was the slider?
  2. This is getting ugly (again) C'mon Vizzy, git-r-done!
  3. Why, exactly, does Yost want Overbay, our top RBI guy, leading off innings?
  4. So is Schroeder. I agree with both of them. If a guy trips and falls down, why is it *not* an error? Just because he didn't muff the ball doesn't mean he shouldn't have made the play.
  5. And by anyone besides Wes Helms I mean even Trent #*&^%$ Durrington. I said the same thing earlier in the thread, and I am sticking by it.
  6. I missed it, I was "away" Did they hit for Sheets? EDIT: Never mind, I read the rest of the thread.
  7. Watching Ben work tonight reminds me of a day I had at work back when I was 20 working for a concrete wall company. We were stripping a wall, it was hot, it was humid. We were in the basement, throwing out 90 pound wall forms, and it had to be over 100 degrees in there. We had this old pothead working for us, named Bob. He was high as a kite, and wearing, yep, a hooded sweatshirt. You could literally feel the heat rolling off of him from 10 feet away. So the guy is 47, and I'm worried, and I finally said "Bob, why don't you take off the sweatshirt?" And he said "WHY DONT YOU WORRY ABOUT YOUR ******SELF! SOME PEOPLES GOT BODY TEMPATURES DIFF'RENT THAN OTHER PEOPLE!" That's what Ben looks like out there tonight. EDIT: FWIW, it was funnier in person, because he only had 6 teeth.
  8. I'd let him go into the 6th, with a close eye on him.
  9. Even playing in, Helms should have made that play. The guy has *no* ability to play defense laterally. It was SIX inches to his side, and he didn't have to move to get it.
  10. Errors, etc., yada yada yada, but what's up with Sheets? He's getting plenty of ground balls, it's just that they're hitting them all at Helms.
  11. Ok, I know Branyan is hurt right now, but I'd be willing to (gulp) put up with Durrington at 3rd til Branyan (or Ginter) can get back on the field. Helms is nothing short of an embarrassment right now.
  12. _)*&$%)*+& HELMS YOU MOTHER*_&@$#_(%*@ HOLY @($#&^(^@ GOD (&$@#%(_*&@$#!!!!!!!!!!! Cut the guy, eat his salary, for christ's sweet sake, the guy sucks at every single aspect of the game.
  13. Someone should let Helms know that he is NOT Ozzie Smith.
  14. "Your 2004 Milwaukee Brewers....snatching defeat from the jaws of victory!"
  15. Yes, I would say. Brutal throw by Counsell, a rather dumb play by Helms, and I don't know *what* that was from Podsednik. Sheets did what he had to do that inning, and still gave up 2 runs.
  16. I'd say that's entirely appropriate today Brian.
  17. 5-0 Mets, and Victor's already got ONE guy out!
  18. Great to see Victor off to a great start in the daylight! WHAT THE HECK IS THE DEAL WITH THIS GUY!?!?! His day/night splits are as bizzare as Helms' home/road splits last year. This game is already close to being over.
  19. I stated this in another thread, but I'll say it again today because it's relevant. Ned is going to lose credibility with his players. His number one best quality is being a motivator. But, when they see him playing his OBVIOUS favorite despite having a better option, he's going to lose the respect of his players. When he loses their respect, he won't be able to motivate them, and then he's lost the one attribute that keeps him from being a bad manager.
  20. Yeah, we got that going for us, which is nice.
  21. Helms has been due since what, May 11th?!?! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif
  22. But then we'd have to look at Wes' .606 OPS against righties, and realize that Russ is STILL the better option, no matter how you slice it!
  23. Never mind the fact that in his 3 year splits Branyan has a .937 OPS vs. lefties and a .750-ish OPS vs. righties. There's NO reason that Helms should be starting over Branyan right now.
