  1. But hey! The team's OBP% for the game was .400! That's good, right?!?
  2. 15 baserunners = 1 run pathetic
  3. Well, he didn't hit into a double play.
  4. Playoff-caliber teams score runs. This group can't. Yes they can. Just not after the first inning!
  5. Ok, someone explain to me why there's still people pimping for Hall to be starting.
  6. NO WAY Brooks just slapped an oppo field single. I must be dreaming.
  7. 8 walks in 7+ innings and we have ONE @$#+(*&@#*$& run to show for it. Unbelievable.
  8. Careful what you say about Yost JaN! Some would have us believe that his RA RA attitude MORE than makes up for the fact that he's nearly clueless with his in game decisions.
  9. Sammy looks horrible. In past years, I've always been nervous when he was hitting against us. Now? I almost expect a K or 6-3 grounder. Huh. We can say the exact same thing about Jenks! Except replace the 6-3 with 4-3.
  10. I said it before, and I'll say it again. A team that even THINKS it has an outside shot at the wildcard can't have a # 3 hitter with a sub .750 OPS and hope to compete. First pitch, weak grounder, imagine that. I hate to say this, please don't vilify me guys, but a VERY SMALL part of me almost wishes Jenks goes down for a while, and we called up Hart who sparks the offense! Ok, dream over. Seriously, is sucking for 90 games a "slump"?
  11. This might be a perception issue, but I'm REALLY REALLY sick of seeing the Crew score in the first, and then hang up the bats for the night. This is at LEAST the third time in the last few weeks they've done this. What the hell is going on?!?
  12. I know everyone else mentioned the "slider" call, but I just have to reiterate that McCarver has no business anywhere near a microphone. I gotta go check to see if my ears are bleeding.
  13. I know Bill. All I'm getting at is that even as a "stat" guy, I recognize that Kinney sucks! Much like some don't feel comfortable with Viz in the game (despite the 2.88 ERA and 1.10 WHIP), who I ardently defend, I don't feel comfortable with Kinney in a close game, and I don't feel comfortable bringing him in with men on base. For reference. OPS against Kinney with no runner on, .723 OPS against Kinney with runners on .957. That would bear out my feeling, at least a little bit.
  14. C'mon Bill, you know I'm as much a stats guy as all but a few on this site! That being said, Kinney has an E.R.A. of almost 6 for the season, right? Yeah, he's been better in relief, in 25 some innings. I'm not denying that, but overall, he's sucked this year, even after a good stretch of pitching well in relief. And yes, he was ok in the Mets game. He only allowed TWO inherited runners to score.
  15. It *was* a clutch hit, but it doesn't mean that Overbay is a *clutch* hitter! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif
  16. Actually, Kinney is probably a superior option to Wise, too Whatever you're smoking Bill, I gotta get me some!
  17. I know Peavey, but Kinney (again, just my opinion) is not a guy who should be brought in a close AND important! game situation. I'd say "Adams" but I'd get jumped on because he gave up the homer. Overall though, Adams has been lights out, and generally speaking, you SHOULD feel alright about bringing Adams in in a situation like that. I don't care what the stats say about Kinney's pen work, I wouldn't have brought him in there.
  18. Who would I have brought in? Maybe Viz. I know it was early, but maybe. Burba? Wise? I'm not saying I'm right, I'm saying it's my opinion that Kinney was not the right guy in that situation.
  19. Bill, I agree with you 100%, especially about Kinney being good (decent) out of the pen. I wouldn't have gone with Kinney there though, but that's just me. I'm just trying to differntiate between Kinney being ok from the pen, and the constant "turn back the clock" stuff that we keep hearing. I mean, honestly, by reading our game threads (aside from Obermuellers starts) you'd swear that every opposing hit is a slow roller or blooper, and every opposing homer has been a wall scraper that just barely made it over. Overall, Kinney's not a good pitcher. He shouldn't have been in in that situation, and that's more Ned's fault than anything.
  20. Well, that wasn't what I was getting at Bill. My point is that we're seeing these "if only" comments popping up all the time lately. I mean, hey, everyone's entitled to their opinion, and I'm not even disagreeing, but you can't just keep saying "if only" "if only" "if only"............ EVERY team has luck, good and bad. Every team sees slow bouncers get through the hole. Every team has to deal with the same vaguaries of chance, and saying "if only" doesn't change it. Again, Bill, I'm not singling you out, it's just that yours was the comment that finally made me say something about it.
  21. If that ball is a few feet in either direction, he might have gotten out of the inning I gotta take issue with this, only because so many people are using the hypothetical angle quite a bit here lately. This isn't so much directed at just you Bill, but I get tired of seeing "1/8th of an inch further up the barrel, and that ball was gone" "2 feet to the left, and that's a double play ball" "a foot higher, and that's over the shortstop's glove" People have been throwing these out A LOT lately, as if these hypotheticals don't also apply to the other teams. Hell, the Reds could say the same thing about the first inning, couldn't they?
  22. Show of hands.......... Who's getting sick and tired of the Brewers not scoring after the first inning?!?!? Anyone?
  23. Let's play devil's advocate here. Hypothetical for Ben 18-8 245 K's 2.25 ERA I'd have to say that'd rank right up there, huh? IF he were to continue to pitch the way he is right now, and if the offense can even get him lets say...... 4 runs per game average, he could make a run at 20 wins, though I'd figure it's pretty unlikely.
  24. oops, my bad on the K's leader. Once Johnson becomes a Yankee, Sheets will lead the NL in K's!!!!!!!!!
  25. Boy, they've pretty much put to rest the can't play in front of big crowds jinx this week. Haven't they though?
