  1. Krist Novoselic. It's gotta be him.
  2. If Jack Lemon could make his interview in the "Out Of Towners" and Will Smith in the "Pursuit Of Happyness", you better be able to make yours. Personally, I wouldn't even call to explain the situation. It'll make a good ice breaker at the interview.
  3. I'm pretty sure they just replay the same episode into the next morning. Hopefully more people will be able to catch it.
  4. Watching it right now. Looks like he's gonna talk about Prince a bit.
  5. 100-62 NL Central Champs. I have nothing to back this prediction up. But stranger things have happened.
  6. All of a sudden, 3B has become quite thin. Lamb must be licking his chops thinking about how much playing time he's gonna end up with. Is Crede still available if Lamb takes a fall?
  7. Joaquin Phoenix is completely out of his mind. Seriously. Watch this dude try to rap. $20 says Joaquin will be visiting his brother River in that great heroin house in the sky within the year.
  8. Ugh. Friday the 13th strikes the Brewers. Although, this could be a blessing in disguise.
  9. Tejada charged with lying about steroid use.
  10. Counsell can field his position and can play anywhere in the infield.
  11. Wolf to Dodgers Gordon to DBacks In the midst of the ARod saga, I noticed that two more pitchers are off the market.
  12. Next to seeing the Who, Springsteen has put on the best arena show I have ever seen. But seriously, what does one expect from him when he has 12 minutes to work with performing in front of hired fans? The sound mix is terrible, and you gotta cut your hits to 1 verse and 1 chorus. It's a total circus and he has to try to please 90,000,000 people watching. The majority of them who barely know who he is, let alone know his music. Think about the last few years of performers, Petty, Prince, Stones, McCartney, etc. These are all legends. And even their performances were mediocre at best. Some say U2s performance was great. But take into consideration, that U2 had 9/11 on their side. Take away 9/11 and their set would have been as much a circus as the rest. I promise you that we'll see the exact same whining about next years performance.
  13. Manny (and Boras) is an idiot to reject that offer. How out of touch with reality can they possibly be?

  15. Manny (and Boras) is an idiot to reject that offer. How out of touch with reality can they possibly be?
  16. Less than two weeks to go and we still have no depth. I'd take Ben Hendrickson at this point. Come on Melvin! Do you even have a pulse?
  17. Oliver Perez seems to be the about the only other top line starter left on the market besides Sheets. Has there been any talk about where he may end up? Any interest from Melvin? In my opinion Perez is a bit too inconsistent to justify the money he'll probably get.
  18. Considering that the rotation has no depth whatsoever, signing Pedro to a 1 year incentive laden contract seems like a no brainer. It's a complete roll of the dice, but the reward could could be huge. Plus, we'd might have enough in the till afterwards to sign Sheets or an innings eater at a fair price.
  19. Just thinking out loud here. Assuming that we traded Prince and signed Dunn...Is Dunn gonna be any upgrade at 1B? Dunn sounds pretty unproven and could be just as much a butcher as Prince. If this were the case, I'm wondering if it would be better to move Dunn into a corner outfield spot and have Hart play 1B. When was the last time Corey played 1B? He couldn't be any worse than Big Sexy could he?
  20. Hot Stove mentioned last night that Hinske might be heading to Japan. I'd look into him if I was Melvin. He did alright in Tampa in a part time role. And he's serviceable (at best?) on the diamond at many positions including 3B in which we currently have a black hole. He'd be fairly inexpensive too. Oh yeah, and he's a local boy too.
  21. Banking on the hopes of the entire staff having an injury free career year is not the way I want to go. Where is the Plan B if McClung goes back to sucking? Where's the Plan B if Prince takes out a starter in a collision? Who's closing? This team needs pitching depth more than anything right now. Adding Hoffman automatically makes the entire bullpen better from the top down. If we can also land an innings eater for the rotation it will at least give us some options if our dream scenarios don't go the way we hoped.
  22. Bradley will match and probably exceed Derosa's numbers at the plate. The thing that is missing is that Bradley can't play all the positions that Derosa could. I don't even know what Derosa's listed position is. 2B I think. Basically all the Cubs did was plug him in wherever there was an injury or a guy who needed a day off. The Cubs are gonna miss that flexibility more than they realize.
