  1. I think this is more to use him as a kind-of "leadoff" hitter without putting the pressure on the kid by actually batting him 1st.
  2. "Our team seems to win when Looper starts more than any other pitcher." Looper is 4th in the Majors (1st in the NL) in "Run Support per Innings" at 6.7. That's runs scored while he is listed as the pitcher in the game. Gallardo is near the bottom and last among the Brewers regular starters at 3.2.
  3. I would expect the Brewers to sign Davis for next year. I really doubt this is a "2009-only" pickup.
  4. "Greatly reduces Hardy's trade value." And keeping him up here, allowing him to continue to stink it up at the plate, somehow will increase his already low value? Why not bring up Escobar, let him get his feet wet playing everyday, so he can get some experience under his belt, when his is the opening day starting shortstop in 2010.
  5. I see nothing wrong with this. The Brewers are not going anywhere this year anyway. Escobar is coming up to play short. See if the kid can handle it for the next month and a half.
  6. I didn't think the Brewers were "in it" in February. And, I still think that.
  7. Man it's a darn good thing those Pittsburgh sports fans have the Steelers and Penguins to cheer for. I wonder when the last time you had such a difference between local sports teams like that.
  8. You can bring in the greatest chef in the world. But, if you give him rotten food to start out with, it's still going to make you want to throw up in the end.
  9. I think Holliday is/was just having a "down" year because he got off to a slow start and he was learning a new home park and new league. Take out his April stats, then look at his numbers: 320 PA: .299/.393/.480 = .873 OPS I would have loved to see Melvin trade them Corey Hart and something else, to put those numbers in RF and batting 2nd. I know Holliday has never played RF, but I'm sure he'd be able to.
  10. I like how Kendall called for it. Rewind it and check out the sign he gives.
  11. On the other hand, would some of these guys be "big names" without the 'roids? Just asking.
  12. Did I mention how much I love this deal. Oh yeah, I already did. Cool. Well it's time to go watch some Penguins playoff hockey. Sorry Crew, you take second fiddle tonight.
  13. what's the over/under on Tony hitting the ball to the wall on the fly in Petco Park? My guess is 2 and I feel I am being generous. I'm not a betting man, but I would take the under on that one.
  14. Plus Gerut has to feel good for just getting out of that mess in San Diego. Not only that, but he gets to go to a first place team, and a hitters ball park?!?!? He's gotta be excited.
  15. I love reading the other message boards about this trade. Especially from those people who still think TGJ would have been a great leadoff CFer for the Crew. Makes me laugh.
  16. Gerut's career line vs RHP is .284/.344/.472/.816 and he can play CF. His career numbers against LHP are not pretty, however last year in 68 PA's: .308/.338/.585/.923 Even if that was a fluke year for him, when would the Crew actually need him to bat against LHP anyway?
  17. could this be a sign that Corey Hart's playing time will get cut back a little? If it does, would that be such a bad thing? Considering how much he fell off the table at the end of last year. Gerut can give Corey at least one day off a week, you won't loose much, and hopefully gain a stronger Corey in September. Anyone know what kind of defensive player he is? Above average defense, above average arm, and can play all three OF positions. Does anyone know what kind of speed Jody has? Also above average. I'd say his speed is about the same as Cameron.
  18. Again, LOVE this deal!! Jody Gerut is a nice player, who is just starting out slow this year. Above average on defense and has an above average arm. Has some pop in his bat, and is a lefty stick. Can play all three OF positions and a guy you can put out there to give Cam and Corey a rest once a week and not loose much if anything at all. While TGJ is nothing more than a 5th OF or, if he's a starter, it's on a last place team.
  19. LOVE this deal!! Besides the fact that I have Gerut in both of my APBA Leagues, Gerut is a nice player, even thou he's struggling a bit so far this season.
  20. I'm just looking at the botched run down now. When Fielder made the first throw to JJ, Bourn was standing right next to him!! Why didn't he just reach over and tag him? So, Fielder missed his tag also. He has to take some blame as well.
  21. I have seen a lot of discussion over at NSBB about how Braun is a poor fielder in left and that Soriano is better. Just proves what I've known for a long time. ScRubs fans are idiots. Put down the beer and watch the game, maybe you'll learn something.
  22. Looper with a few words for Macha there...interesting. I saw that as well. Macha looked back at him and Hardy also had some kind of smile on his face, like, "did he just say that?". Don't think anything will come of it thou. I think Looper may just have had a little bit of a chip on his shoulder tonight pitching against the team that pretty much threw him away last year. He was probably a little bit too hyped up tonight and let it out there. He'll probably apologize to those guys before Macha even says anything about it.
  23. I think it's just weird. Say you like some chick, she's cute, nice bod, you finally get invited over to her place, and she's got like 1,000 unicorn figurines around her place. I would be out of there in a minute, because that's just plain crazy. I equate this story about the "youngster" to a chick like that. I'm not going to stay I haven't collected a couple of balls. I have a Corey Hart from last year's season ticket promotion, a Yovani Gallardo this year from the same promo (they had some leftover from last year, so I asked for one), and one signed by my cousin who is a Major League umpire. That's it.
  24. "I think it is funny when adults sit in the ball park with a glove on" Now, not all the time thou. I do bring my glove if I sit down in the expensive seats, down in those first couple of rows, if I'm not behind the screen. Purely for protection purposes only.
  25. Edit: Member or not, if he's got the nerve to act like that, we've got the right to call him out. I'm with you man. This is nuts. I'll never understand the people who stand up and act like idiots for a $5 T-shirt, or the 30+ year old men diving on the ground for a stupid baseball. It's just a ball people.
