  1. Aguilar needs to go on the DL, then be sent on a rehab assignment to AAA to work on the timing.
  2. Nice to have? Not so sure bout that. Do we really need another depth starter? Just asking. The crew going with the trio in rotation to develope as starters, plus Chacín Davies Anderson Wilkerson Houser And soon Nelson. That’s 9. Maybe he’s a better option than 3 or 4 of those 9, but maybe not. Unless we develope our trio in AAA, but not sure we should do that. In 2017, Gio was 6th in the Cy Young voting and posted a dominant line. In 2018, he regressed with the Nationals, but with the Crew, he was performing slightly better than he did in 2017. At this point, signing Gio and a DFA of Petrika would be a smart move. It buys time for Burnes to fix his issues at San Antonio and for Peralta to get back into form as well.
  3. He'd have to clear waivers... The only way to get him down is a DL stint... that would get him a rehab assignment.
  4. And even then, looking at the slumping players... In 74 PAs prior to this last game, Aguilar has nine walks. In 79 PAs, Shaw has 8. In fact, most of the offense, outside of Braun, Arcia, Perez, and Thames, are really doing well in the walks department. Thames and PErez, though, had been hitting at least somewhat well.
  5. Period. If Jesus continues to suck as badly as he has so far, Thames can start every day as far as I'm concerned. For Jesus, this is not a funk, or a slump, he has been really really bad all season, and most of the second half last season. There is a chance that we have already seen his best, and that is that. The only reason Thames struggled early in 2018 was he got hurt. Aguilar then had his hot streak... Now, Thames is healthy and raking. The risk is, of course, he makes the Crew lefty-heavy. But calling up Hirua could fix some of that. If Erceg is good enough at AAA, maybe Thames get flipped for prospects, and Erceg takes over. And Aguilar may well return to the 2017/2018 form. In 2017, he racked up an .837 OPS part-time. 2018, it was .890. Maybe he needs to go on the DL and have a rehab assignment to get back in motion. Call it a fever, and he needs some more cowbell...
  6. Exactly... get through the tough part, be on top of the Central... then we take the damn title, and make a playoff run. Hiura will be up at some point. So might Erceg if he keeps it up. Brewers deadline moves could very well be moving a Moustakas/Shaw/Aguilar type to make room for the kids.
  7. If he would've been within two feet of where he was set up bellinger would've struck out. Sometimes, sliders just hang...
  8. Well, can't say Aguilar's defense put the Crew behind again... BTW, should we be worried Hader's only hitting 92-93 with his fastball?
  9. Thames does it again... Maybe he takes first for a bit, and Jesus just plays against lefties... platooning has long been a strategy of baseball.
  10. And Shaw, Braun, and Aguilar won't be slumping the whole year... And once this is done... time for the Crew to feast.
  11. Thames has hit .257 with three homers. Not bad. LoCain's doing OK. Grandal's been red hot. Gamel's been solid. Aguilar, Braun, and Shaw have been varying degrees of awful. Yeah, there will be normalizing... and Burnes will get his stuff together. The good news is the Crew is still hanging tough despite all these problems in a tough part of the schedule.
  12. This is a no-brainer. Sign Gio, DFA Albers... Anderson back to the pen.
  13. Upside is great when you're a 68 win team with no expectations and can experiment on the fly. But when you're a hopeful contender who missed the WS by 1 game, you can't just have a white flag starter 20% of the time. And sending a guy to AAA to work on things is not giving up on him. At this point, its obvious that the four-seam fastball is not working for Burnes. It's being teed off on. Whether he's tipping it, or throwing it too much... it's time for him to work that out some. There's a place for his heat, but he needs to mix it up more, and the exact mix can be figured out in San Antonio.
  14. Sorry to post again here... but what is a SC joint injury?
  15. Per MLB At Bat, Jeffress is back, and Peralta's on the DL (right shoulder). OK, now I am worried - is this a serious shoulder problem for Freddy?
  16. Thames has a player option, not a club option. But yeah, a multi-year deal would make sense. Maybe 3 years, $36 million tops.
  17. It is frustrating to see their struggles. Burnes - yeah, I expected it, albeit not to the tune of giving up three gopher balls per start. Peralta - I figured hitters would catch up to the fastball, especially multiple time through the order. Woodruff, I think, was mismanaged a bit. The Crew could have just had him up in 2017, and DFA Garza after 2016. That would have had him a major contributor in 2018 and a mainstay by 2019. Now he, too, is adjusting.
  18. And despite that, the team is above .500 and leading the NL Central. With Jeffress due back...
  19. He decided to get a sure thing now... Plus, with a long-term future in Atlanta, he can line up endorsements - at least in the local market. That will help him out as well.
  20. Jesus had a big game last night - and drew two walks and had a hit tonight... Shaw with two hits tonight, including a big two-run single... Braun just needs some luck... Offense looking good - just need Davies to notch down a CG to give the pen a night off.
