  1. If we can see that, surely his coaches are on him about it... Maybe a quicker hook this year will change his ways. Why wait for 1/3 of the season to be over to make a point with this guy? As soon as we can come up with an option at SS, send him back down. Not a huge believer in Dubon, but he can't be any worse than Arcia. How close is he to healthy? Wait for Super 2. Hiura at second, Moose at short.
  2. Yeah... no more innings like that one would be nice... Would be nice to pad the three-run lead with a jack or three from Yelich and/or Braun...
  3. 19 years ago, it would have been a good one...
  4. Given the bad news about Lorenzo Cain, there is good news. Brent Suter's recovery from Tommy John surgery is moving faster than expected, and he could be back with the major league club as early as June 15. According to an unsolicited DM I got from HighHeat19 on Twitter, Suter may end up being used in the pen this year, with a chance to return to the rotation.
  5. With the DH coming to the National League in the near future, I think the calculus changes. I think the Crew can afford to extend Yelich, because as a DH, he would have much less wear and tear in the later years.
  6. Um ... what? You don't consider it a win already? It's a probable win, but if Brinson, Diaz, Harrison, and Yamamoto become good assets for the Marlins, the deal gets closer to a draw. Getting Yelich for another four years tips the balance more clearly in the Crew's favor, IMO.
  7. If not seven years, at least try to get three or four more. Yelich is a very rare talent... and an extension turns the trade into a win for the Brewers.
  8. Yelich strikes me at the kind of hitter who, barring injury, would age well. If the Crew could get him to defer money - and sign a relatively team-friendly deal as Braun did - I think it would be good.
  9. I had Burnes as my #1 vote in three Top 25 polls (Mid-season 2017, Post-season 2017, and Pre-season 2018 - he was only bumped by the emergence of Cam Roegner in Mid-Season 2018, and I considered that a tie). I definitely see him as a TOR-type pitcher, if not an ace. Scherzer and Verlander, though are very heady company...
  10. Disagree on the outfield depth part. Corey Ray, Tyrone Taylor, and Troy Stokes are in AAA, and all three of them are good. My only beef is that the Crew isn't working Ray in enough at first in addition to the outfield - which could make him an upgrade over Thames in cost and defense. While Ray had a good 2018, Stokes had a good 2017 and 2018. He's Khris Davis Lite with speed and the abilty to play defense. Taylor re-emerged in 2018 after he got healthy. He's the biggest question mark of the three. If the Crew were to make a deal with the Giants for Will Smith, he'd be the guy I'd send.
  11. Extend Yelich: 7 years, $210 million $10 million per year deferred - to be paid out at $7 million per year for the ten years after the contract runs out.
  12. How confident must Burnes feel knowing that the offense can pick him up? First Cain saves the opener by taking away a home run... Yelich ends the four-game series on a walk-off... Cue up some Stan Bush - The Crew's got The Touch!
  13. I think having good starters is always the right answer. Would you ever trade a Chapman for a Kershaw straight up? In the case of the Brewers this year it is gong to take some time to work through things but I think they made the right choice. It will take time... but this is a long season. I think that Burnes/Woodruff/Peralta will be very solid pitchers in the rotation. But even the best have rough days.
  14. Oh, man... if any SNL writers are Cubs or Cardinals fans, I can imagine the tasteless jokes they'd write about an inning with three Ks that was the 88th to be done on nine pitches.
  15. He must have hit it hard... but right at the Cardinals shortstop. Can we get Hiura up and Moose at short yet?
  16. It was a good AB... except for the result. I'll take a patient Arcia working a good count. If he does, then we get closer to the post-season offensive monster.
  17. I have always enjoyed checking out the Link Reports... often to see how the young talent I had high on my Top 25 ballot did...
  18. Goldschmidt had a monster game. Stuff like that happens. Aside from that, the Crew did well. Not worried... 160 games to go. Plenty of time to catch up.
