  1. I could see him going four or five, with a count of 80. 19 pitches isn't that much, and he has had two day's rest from that.
  2. In any case, Bleacher Report says Cain's X-ray came back clean... contusion, NO FRACTURE. So, no need.
  3. Actually, a simpler move: Cain to DL Recall Hiura Shaw to LF (he's played some in the majors) Yelich to CF Braun to RF IF of Moustakas, Arcia, Hiura, Thames
  4. I think this game is where some folks tuned the corner. Burnes did well in the pen. Braun had six hits. He's rebounding. Shaw got that walk at a critical time. Gio pitched well, and looks to be in his 2018 form with the Crew. Jeffress did well in an inning. Gonna need Sunday's starter to do well.
  5. And who is to say that Burnes and/or Peralta don't become great starters in another year? Burnes has two rarely-used pitches that he needs to develop. Peralta has shined as a starter, including that eight-inning performance just this year.
  6. With a month in the books, which of the prospects on your Top 25 ballots have climbed, which have fallen? One of my big risers? Ryan Aguilar. (http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=milb&player_id=666922#/career/R/hitting/2019/ALL) His walk rate has been good, but he's had trouble hitting for average. Well, that has changed this year in Carolina. Aguilar is provivng to be a good #2 hitter, hitting .278 and with a .420 OBP. Scott Sunitsch is pitching solidly, and I look forward to seeing him climb the ladder. One surprise so far... Weston Wilson, who is becoming a prospect. I pegged him as a replacement/supplement for Perez, but he may take a position and hold it.
  7. Yeah... get a couple years like this, then deal him and bring up Turang to replace him.
  8. I'd think this would be a great spot for a Jeffress finish. Why burn another reliever?
  9. Hard luck for Orlando... hits a laser right at the second baseman. I know I get on his case, but sometimes it is just bad luck...
  10. Moose offers a bit more positional versatility - handling 2b pretty well this year, plays third base, and has some experience at first. Thames is really a 1B/DH who can play a corner OF spot in theory... Honestly, I'd exercise Moose's option, and have him learn to play LF/RF in spring training 2020.
  11. The guy who racked up OPS figures of .837 and .890 wasn't always gonna be in a rut. Christian who?
  12. The bullpen clearly needs the help, and Chase can be an option. Peralta may be an option as well, and perhaps his fastball-heavy pitch mix is better suited there for this season.
  13. Sheesh, the Crew pretty much has their way with Thor and DeGrom, but the gloom and doom emerges after this one. Yelich being hurt is scary... we can't afford that right now. But I'll continue taking two our of three games - and being able to beat up on elite starters.
  14. Ryan Aguilar may be moving up my list... I had him pegged as an Eric Thames with better OF defense. His big weakness was average... well, so far, he seems to have figured that out. With a .288 average, his OBP is at .447.
  15. Gio did pretty well. In any case, if he is at Chase Anderson/Chacin level, he buys time for Burnes/Peralta to get their acts together.
  16. To date, 13-12 is a good record, even if it has been a struggle. Would I have preferred to see Burnes and Peralta do better? Yes. Do I wish Wahl and Knebel were healthy? Yes. Would it be nice to see Jesus hitting at his 2017 clip at the very least? Yes. Would it be good if Braun and Shaw weren't slumping? Sure. If the Crew survives this part of the schedule and is no more than a game or two back... the division title is ours.
  17. Shaw with two homers... Braun with a ht and a walk... Yeah, it's in the L column. Yeah, those @!?#@!& Redbirds are ahead in the standings... But most of the slumpers are turning it around. That is good for the long haul.
  18. He had quite the celebration... HR, single, 2 RBI, SB...
