  1. I never said it was good to trade Moose for Shaw. But if Moose is injured ( ), he goes to the DL, Shaw comes back up.
  2. At this point with his issues on D maybe make him the first baseman. It's a black hole right now. If Shaw rebounds, the Crew could then bring up Erceg, let Moose walk, and Grandal, while not the best on D, would provide a margin for error offensively. Maybe move him to first for the last year of the deal depending on how fast Henry/Feliciano/Fry make it up, but Grandal is a top offensive catcher.
  3. Of course, much now depends on the situation with his hand... I'm hoping that the broken finger doesn't have long-term effects. Frankly, it does make the decision easier for when Shaw comes up. Hiura stays, Moose to the DL.
  4. He can look for that all he wants, but good luck getting it. Unless he has a truly breakout offensive year I don’t see why teams would suddenly offer him big long term deals. I would expect his numbers to come down to earth a bit and even if they don’t not really convinced teams buy into one big season. Would it really be shocking for him to come back at another ~$20mil price tag? Wouldn’t shock me to be honest. Or sign something like 3/$45mil. He was great last year and walked away with a one year deal. I think the Crew could get him to come back with a 3 year, $48 million deal with a mutual option for year four at $20 million with a $6 million buyout. By that point, one of Henry, Feliciano, or Fry will be ready to take over.
  5. I am cautiously optimistic that Arcia is turning an offensive corner. Can he sustain this performance over a full season? We will have to see, he had a decent year in 2017, then cratered in 2018. In 2015, he did well in AA, but struggled in a very hitter-friendly park in AAA in 2016. I hope Arcia can prove me wrong, but I'm still on a wait-and-see basis.
  6. With Grandal, Braun, and Moustakas behind him, I think Yelich has the protection to hit 50-60 homers this year. I'm pushing for the 60, to be honest. Next year, the Crew needs to move that right field fence in about ten feet. Maybe 15 if they can get away with it...
  7. I'm getting a sense he will dominate, too. Heck, back in 2017, I felt he should have been up sooner. Imagine paying him $500K instead of the $12 million or go Garza got. Who knows? Maybe he's that TOR/ace guy we needed in the 2018 playoffs. Maybe 2017 also has the Crew in the playoffs...
  8. Shoulder soreness for Roegner... hope that he is 100 percent, and that this isn't a prelude to bigger problems. As for Kirby, these are separate conditions, and while he is delayed, I think he has the ability to make a Rasmussen-like climb in 2020.
  9. Yeah... Hernan Perez can be the 13th pitcher.
  10. True, but intentional walks to Christian Yelich need to be shamed. Vigorously.
  11. If the pitchers in major league baseball are real men, as opposed to wimps, I think Yelich could have a very huge year. Part of that is having folks who make them pay for being total cowards and wimps with the intentional walk...
  12. Broxton still slugs and he has shown the ability to get on base via the walk. You get him for his defense, his speed, and that power.
  13. In 2018, he may have had a sub-Uecker average in 89 plate appearances, but was still 1.6 wins above replacement. Overall, he had 4.2 wins above replacement in Milwaukee. As a 4th outfielder, not conventional in terms of his offensive profile, but he provides excellent defense.
  14. If Burnes hadn't been a baby seal, this was a win. Baseball can drive you crazy sometimes...
  15. Burnes down for Anderson... get Burnes straightened out.
  16. Seriously? That would be an awful short debate. Cain's five-year, $80 million deal does create some opportunity cost. $16 million a year is not exactly chump change, but for his Career OPS+ of 108 and defense, it wasn't bad per se. But that $16 million is money that can't go elsewhere. How much would Keon have cost? Maybe half that at most if the Crew bought out his arby years and two free agent years? You get better defense, and an OPS+ of 91 with the Crew. For instance, no Cain probably gives the Crew the financial flexibility to give Grandal a multi-year deal.
  17. Put it this way... Broxton is a plus-plus defender with a lot of speed (49 for 61 in SB with the Crew), solid OBP skills (87 BB in about 800 plate appearances), and a fair bit of power (33 HR). Lorenzo Cain is an upgrade, albeit a costly one. Would the Brewers be as good with Broxton versus Cain? Open for debate. But after 2018, and with the acquisition of Ben Gamel, Broxton was not going to be a Brewer one way or another. They could outright him, but there was no room at AAA between Taylor, Ray, and Stokes.
  18. Wasn't' he the guy who said nobody thought Suter would make the majors? Loved the guy as a player... wish he'd gotten more ABs as a catcher for the Crew... but as a commentator, I sometimes think I'd do better.
  19. Bases loaded, no outs... you'd like to come away with more than two runs in the inning - one of which was a solo shot BEFORE the bases were loaded.
  20. Arcia whiffs... [sarcasm]All right, call up Erceg, play him at third, Moose at short, Hiura/Shaw at second, Thames/Aguilar at third.[/sarcasm]
  21. Hmmm... keep Grandal in 2020, trade Pina, have Nottingham do a one-year apprenticeship? Get us a year closer to one of Fry/Hummel/Henry/Feliciano taking over...
