  1. Given the last couple of days... keeping Ben in was the better move. Now, the bullpen has had a day off. They might be sharper. They were hammered Friday night.
  2. I just hope Sharpie can go another inning. Turnbow may need a day off. He's pitched three straight, IIRC.
  3. We rocked Clemens... Ohka's a steal. Nice to not worry about the #4 starter. If Eveland can be the #5 starter, the Crew's in good shape there...
  4. OK, who is the Astros manager, and why did he send his clsoer out when his team is down three runs?
  5. Maybe the luck's turned around... And just in time for a series against the leaders for the Wild Card...
  6. I'll think positive... Maybe the Crew will step up with some games that count (tomorrow and the Houston series). Houston will be HUGE. If the Crew takes the Astros, they are back in the wild card race.
  7. With Wes Obermueller, I think we are looking at a key component in the 2006-2008 bullpens. A setup guy who can go 1-2 innings and get the game to the closer.
  8. Yeah... but it's not gonna be enough. *sigh* They can't put it together. When Rickie's knocking `em outta the yard, there's nobody on base.
  9. I'm not so optimistic any more. The team's given it a decent run, but I think they'll top out at 75 wins. Best-case. We don't have the bench, we just don't have the horses for much more. I was hoping for more... *sigh*
  10. The big problem is that Chris Magruder is the 4th OF because of two things: 1. Dave Krynzel can't seem to put it together. 2. The Crew didn't think to get anyone better than Magruder over the offseason. Mark A. has to open the checkbook to get the Brewers two things: 1. A second #2 pitcher to go between Cappy and Davis next year (replacing Santos) - with a rotation of Sheets, Cappy, [FA], Davis, and Eveland. 2. A legit 4th OF (think Randy Winn) who can step in at Clark's level as opposed to Magruder. If others are able to step up, great. But those two are glaring weaknesses that must be addressed.
  11. Forget hating the Scrubs... I'm starting to hate the Cardinals more.
  12. From GameDay, it looked as if Magruder almost got it out of the park... Well, the Crew's all but out of the Wild Card race now.
  13. On Enrique Cruz: Yeah, he's making errors, but there's also an .844 OPS in a pitcher's league on the table as well.
  14. You wonder just a little... Could Inman have finished the no-no he was working on? Pitch counts and limiting innings are nice... but when a guy is really cruising to the tune of a no-no through seven (only one walk and two wild pitches), I'd be inclined to relax that rule a little.
  15. I hope Lehr gets a plane ticket to Nashville ASAP. Of course, Sharpie didn't impress, either today. Another offensive performance wasted - then again, given the way he's had six quality starts wince June 22 and NO WINS, I kinda feel that some sick, twisted, form of justice has been served. A performance like this when Sharpie is on would be good enough for a win.
  16. Justin Lehr getting rocked AGAIN. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif Bring back Obermueller!!!!
  17. Benson is a coward - intentionally walking Branyan. MAKE HIM PAY, JJ!!! EDIT: UGH! Bad enough to pop out on the first pitch... but when it means cowardice pays off, it's even worse.
  18. Look at what we got with other chances taken: Dan Kolb - we've turned him into what is, worst-case, a new closer in Jose Capellan. Scott Podsednik - All he did was steal 110+ bases as a superb leadoff hitter. I wish more players would "slump" the way he did in 2004. And what did Podzilla turn into? Carlos Lee (y'know, that guy in left field who bats between O and Jenks?) Derrick Turnbow - Gee, we don't miss Danny Kolb that much, do we?
  19. RyDogg66 I wish the Crew had the DH as an option... no need to even entertain the notion of trading O.
  20. Now... how well will the Crew do against the Mets and Phillies?
  21. OK, they pinch hit for Cappy... but MAGRUDER?
  22. MILLER TIME!!! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
