  1. Vanden Berg: 18 walks in 103 ABs. Plus a .262 average, and his 8th double... Not bad for a guy with sporadic playing time. I'm pretty sure he's going to be good as a #2 catcher. He's Chad Moeller's replacement in 2007. Possibly sooner.
  2. He's really made strides in hit hitting. Worth a spot on the bench next year in a utility role to replace Helms?
  3. Hall's up again... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. DHonks Perhaps... but Helms seems to have the work ethic to become a decent catcher with a solid bat, not just a good hitter who wears the tools of ignorance.
  5. Would putting Wes Helms behind the plate be such a bad idea?
  6. When Branyan gets back, who sits? EDIT: C'mon, JJ, jack one outta the park...
  7. UGH!!! Lee gets good wood on the ball... but it can't get outta the park.
  8. PrimetimeHater Yeah, I am pretty impressed, too. He has no fear of challenging hitters. It does give the Brewers a lot of room in the rotation as well. The real issue is consistency from the offense now. When Branyan returns, that will help.
  9. RyDogg66 From what I gather, the umps gave the Cubs at least one out. Remember the time in Spring Training they called interference on Cirillo? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  10. AJ Love You just hit on one big thing - probably one of the things that Ned Yost has done well: This is a team that doesn't quit - and that attitude is something Yost has created. Remember that game last year, when the Crew was down 5 in the ninth with two out, but came back to tie - and then went on to win in 14 innings? Or those times when Bill Hall made some very big clutch hits last year? That, I think, was Ned Yost simply changing the tone (for lack of a better term) of the team.
  11. How about Ohka giving up those two gopher balls in the first? That's probably my biggest concern with Ohka - he's a flyball pitcher. If he makes a mistake, it will bite him in the butt.
  12. splitterpfj And the Jones "miss" is due to something completely out of Jack Z's control. As for Braun, I'd like to see him spend time at shortstop, too. I believe he was playing SS at Miami - he only moved because they needed a 3B, not due to any deficiencies on Braun's part. I think if he were a SS, this would be seen as a "no-brainer" pick. If only because you cannot have too many shortstops.
  13. IIRC, Braun's move to third was not because of shortcoming at shortstop, it was because Miami found that Braun at third and another SS was a better mix for the team than Braun at short and another 3B. It would be interesting to see him get some work at SS when the Power need to give Escobar a day off.
  14. I think Lyle's slump is OVER. In five minutes.
  15. PrimetimeHater But Hall and Branyan look like two options for the next five-six years at third. If Overbay is to be dealt, he needs to be dealt for a good backup catcher.
  16. PeaveyFury Gee, a guy goes nearly two months without allowing a run, but he has a bad night (his first in two months), and everyone's ready to run him out of town. We got our butts handed to us by the Phillies. We're probably sellers at this point. Let's hope Botallico bounces back enough that we can get something decent in return. We managed nicely with Spivey...
  17. Of all the days for Phelps to end a streak of not giving up runs... first time gave up runs since April 19. He gets a mulligan. I'm more ticked at Bottalico yesterday.
  18. JJ seems to be breaking out... That 11-pitch at-bat was good. And Geoff had a good PH AB, too. Eight pitches, at least three two-strike fouls.
  19. Why is he even out there? Can he be DEALT soon? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  20. Is it just me, or did Cirillo get two hits today? A jack and a double of a righty? Is he getting in the groove aginst righties, TOO? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
