  1. Don't you HATE it when line drives are caught?
  2. The offense looks alive today... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif If they keep it up, I'll give the Crew a mulligan for the past two games - they were up against Zambrano and Wood, after all...
  3. O did his part today. He had that game tied up. The problem is that the Crew didn't execute in the top of the 9th. Hardy, Fielder, and Magruder needed to get hits, not strike out.
  4. Part of me recognizes that Weeks, Fielder, Hall, and Hardy have some developing to do. But part of me wants to win now. It's a struggle sometimes...
  5. Yost made good calls in the 8th. The problem was that JJ, Prince, and Magruder just did not get it done. The only thing I really disagreed with was having Weeks bunt - he's got a great bat, and having him bunt takes the bat out of his hands. It's also time for JJ to pack his bags for Nashville.
  6. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/sick.gif Well, look on the bright side - we'll get a good pick this coming June. Again.
  7. Ugh... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/sick.gif
  8. Brady, Rickie, and Billy to start. A couple of singles, then back-to-back-to-back jacks would be nice... EDIT: WHOSE BIRGHT IDEA WAS THAT SAC BUNT??!!! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  9. Hope the bullpen can hold on until theCrew can win this one.
  10. Maybe Ben needs to learn the cutter and/or the split-finger. If he is still having trouble with his curve...
  11. Uhh... 67 pitches through 4 innings, 44 for strikes. Two runs allowed. Ben's still trying to tune up after a DL stint. He'll be fine. After all, Curt Schilling gave up 37 when the D-Backs won the World Series in 2001. Hideo Nomo, in two good years with the Dodgers gave up 26 and 24 homers in 2002 and 2003, respectively.
  12. DHonks For me, the final sale has been his walk rate in Huntsville. Walking every five ABs is good enough for a #8 hitter. And he does seem to at least be able to hit as well (.269 average as of yesterday's game). The OBP has jumped significantly, while his average is holding pretty steady and his slugging has declined a little in the pitcher's league. If he's not on the 40-man next year, Doug Melvin is making a huge mistake. His offensive numbers (OPS-wise) look to be pretty consistent (.817 in 2002, .768 in 2003, .780 in 2004, and .786 to date in 2005). That sort of OPS is above average for a catcher. And he'd be cheap (10% of what Damian Miller would earn for the first three years, arby might up it the next three). I'd like to see him get a long look next year in spring training.
  13. Vanden Berg with another hit and he took one for the team - wonder how his OPS is by this point... Seems like its improving over last year at High Desert. I think he's legit. How long until he's back on the Power 50?
  14. Some other interesting notes... John Vanden Berg's OPS is up to .784 (.384 OBP, .400 slugging), with 20 walks (one every 5.1 ABs). This is good for fourth on the team, and ahead of everyday players Kennard Bibbs (17 in 217 ABs), Vinny Rottino (17 in 272 ABs), and Enrique Cruz (17 in 260 ABs). Dave Krynzel is leading current Nashville players in RBI (40)and is second in stolen bases (11). Ironically, Corey Hart is leading current Nashville players in SBs (13), and is third in in RBI (33, behind Brad Nelson and Steve Scarborough at 34 apiece). Will Lewis has been hit by the pitch 15 times - leading all current minor leaguers. The next closest is Steve Sollman with 13. No other current minor leaguer in the Brewers system had reached double figures in that total.
  15. If it's Vampire starting a day game, the Crew's gonn get toasted... Nice to see the near-comeback, though...
  16. I guess, Magruder PR. And Brady in a DP. Will two be enough?
  17. Well, Miller scored anyhow... Cirillo takes one, but he gets an RBI for it. EDIT: They're reporting an injury delay... I hope it's not too bad for Jeff...
  18. Helms PH for Hardy... EDIT: Single, and Cirillo up... going for another single and two runs, I guess...
  19. Good AB by Lew Ford... too bad it loads the bases. EDIT: Mauer CHOKES!!!
  20. Katuluu A good question. The Brewers seem to have a lot of good options everywhere for 2006...
