  1. AJAY I think Helms would have had a decent year had he not gone on the DL after that injury in San Juan. Remember, his May OPS was in the high .770s. I imagine Wes would have been red-hot in June and July, and gone on to post a similar line to 2003.
  2. endaround I'm hoping for a 2005 rotation of: Sheets, Davis, Capuano, Hendrickson, and de la Rosa.
  3. O'Leary's page at baseball-reference.com: baseball-reference.com/o/o'leatr01.shtml Hmm.... some decent power numbers. Some of the similar players were Mel Hall and Bernard Gilkey. An interesting comparison as well: Former Brewer Sixto Lezcano. baseball-reference.com/l/lezcasi01.shtml Here is who I think Krynzel is comparable to. Some speed, but there's a lot of power.
  4. I'm beginning to HATE the Pirates more than I hate the Cubs.
  5. Durrington has use as a pinch-runner. Wes Helms may be a decent backup at first and third, but not at $2.5 million a year.
  6. And maybe Hendrickson's not ready for the majors yet, either. He's come up twice, been hammered twice. Keep him in AAA until September.
  7. Doubles? Nice to see Prince and Rickie tear the cover off the ball. Nice to see them getting outta the slump. But Prince is in there to hit them OVER the fence, not OFF the fence.
  8. JoeHova Simply because he can fetch the most right now. The Brewers need a catcher and a third-base prospect. With Spivey hurt, is there any other Brewer who could be dealt for anything significant?
  9. Prescisely. And the fact is, Overbay arguably should be the #3 hitter. There is just nobody else to protect Jenkins, though. Time to be sellers. Move Santos, Grieve, and Counsell as best as possible. If Spivey were healthy... maybe the Crew could get some decent help. As it is, Doug Melvin HAS to look for the best catcher available in free agenct and sign him.
  10. The Brewers need more power... there's no avoiding it. The offense can't support the pitchers.
  11. Grand slam? C'mon Billy... take it deep!!!
  12. Agreed. The middle and long relievers are not getting enough work to keep the rust off. Dump Kinney. Dump Jeff Bennett. Kieschnick, Wise, and Burba in long relief. Kolb as the closer. Vizcaino for the 8th. Adams for the 7th. -- At this point, I'd say sell at the end of the month. The Brewers will not make the playoffs and chasing the 85th win for this year does not make sense. Deal Grieve, Santos, and Counsell - see what we can get in return. Stock up for 2005-2008.
  13. Cubs SWEPT!!! Three straight. This Brewers team has bounced BACK!
  14. gregmag Davis didn't seem to be struggling at all out there. The Brewers had a four-run lead. In any case, it seems to have worked out. No complaints from me. And the bullpen will be well-rested for the next series. Just throw Burba or Kinney out there for the ninth if the Crew can get a couple of insurance runs.
  15. Yeah, it would be nice to have them. Get two runs, and then send Kinney or some other middle-relief guy to finish this one off. That liner by Sosa should be a sign that Doug's probably thrown enough pitches today. 8 IP, ERA down to 3.46 - he's done his bit for the team tonight.
  16. If Doug can get through the seventh, why not let Dave Burba and/or Mike Adams take the last two innings and give Vizcaino and Kolb the night off?
  17. Guys, is it just me, or does Podsednik seem to be hitting a lot of stuff to right? That double went to right, I think he's flown out to right at least once... is he getting ahead of pitches or something?
  18. The difference between 2004 and 2001: The 2004 Brewers BOUNCE BACK!
  19. Yup... Consider this one over, folks. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Would be nice to get an insurance run or two, though...
  20. Can Magruder catch? DFA Gary Bennett!
  21. Well, it may be time to deal Santos... and see if someone will overpay for him. It seems that he might be coming back to earth.
  22. Crap. Still a 4-2 game... The good news: Prior's pitch count is way up there. 79. One more inning like that, and Baker has to give him the hook and hope his bullpen doesn't give up too much.
