  1. Like scoring on an infield dribbler? Well actually Hart would have been on 2nd so a single now gets in two runs instead of one.
  2. Actually, you make a great point there. Happy with the lineup now!
  3. 2B Rickie Weeks RF Corey Hart LF Ryan Braun 1B Prince Fielder 3B Casey McGehee C Jonathan Lucroy SS Yuniesky Betancourt CF Nyjer Morgan P Shaun Marcum I wish Morgan was 2nd and Hart 5th because I think the 8 hole wastes Morgan's ability to steal a base. However I don't think Yuni can hit 8th because he would get himself out when they are trying to work around him to get to the pitcher.
  4. Braun has twice as many singles as homeruns this year and with the Brewers struggling to score runs, I can see why they are trying to get a guy to second base. Not to mention they were 2 for 2 tonight in attempts.
  5. Ok, I have been laying of RRR, but he just started Kotsay in CF in one of the biggest parks in the majors, but yet continues to start Yuni at SS. At least Gomez brings value on defense. If we were going to try and cover up one of our black holes on offense, wouldn't you start CC tonight?
  6. Haudricourt just posted his NL MVP ballot. Actually not awful except he included Ryan Howard which is almost laughable. I guess he had a lot of RBIs again, but seriously, his WAR was 2.0..exactly .3 ahead of Chris Narveson! Oh and he almost included Brian Wilson who pitched a total of 80 innings this year. Here was his ballot. 1. Joey Votto, Cincinnati 2. Albert Pujols, St. Louis 3. Carlos Gonzalez, Colorado 4. Adrian Gonzalez, San Diego 5. Troy Tulowitzki, Colorado 6. Scott Rolen, Cincinnati 7. Ryan Howard, Philadelphia 8. Roy Halladay, Philadelphia 9. Matt Holliday, St. Louis 10. Aubrey Huff, San Francisco If I were voting, my top 10 would be (Votto, Pujols, Zimmerman, Halladay, Tulo, Holliday, CarGo, Torres, Wainright, Jimenez)
  7. 8. Can some on here explain their disdain for Bob Melvin? I am not saying that he would be my pick, but from the research I did on him, he was was liked by his players in Arizona. I also just found a scouting report by Keith Law on their match up against the Rockies in the NLCS a few years back and he wrote "Bob Melvin knows how to manage his 'pen in close games, so it's on the starters to keep the games tight." This I find to be one of the most important roles of a manager. And I the manager doesn't affect team performance a lot, but he took two average Diamondback teams to the playoffs including an NLCS birth (including sweeping our hated rivals down to the south of us).
  9. What about a guy like Clint Hurdle. While his resume for wins and losses isn't the prettiest (barring the 15 game winning streak in 07 to get them into the playoffs and World Series), his players really went to bat for him when he was fired. I don't know how much weight to put on wins and losses for the manager so just the fact the players like him, certainly would be an improvement over Macha. He now is the hitting coach for the Rangers and obviously that is their strength, all be it in a hitter's park. Just wondering what others thoughts were on him?
  10. Not sure how many would be interested, but a buddy of mine built is own fantasy golf site and is offering a FREE league to get his site going. 11. I brought this up in the In-Game-Thread, but just wanted to get everyone else s opinion on it. Why is baseball the only sport that a statistic (the save) dictates how you manage the game? I realize all managers do it, but today was the perfect example. Estrada, a starter who has been stretched out, pitches 4 innings of 2 hit ball with only 48 pitches, but yet is pulled for another reliever to finish the game. Why risk the chance of someone not having it when you know the person in the game does have it? I always think this after Coffey or Villanueva pitches a perfect 8th inning on 10 pitches, but yet, they are pulled for someone else. Again, I am not blaming Macha because everybody does it these days. Is the the 9th just that much of a different animal mentally for these guys?
  12. This is the major reason that I hate baseball, and I know all managers are the same. But it has to be the only sport where a stat dictates how you mange. You have a starting pitcher (Estrada) that has pitched great, but you go to your "closer" instead of letting him finish it off. It is absolutely asinine to me.
  13. Take it for what it is worth, but Keith Law's ballot looked like this.... He values defense and the position you play quite highly. NL MVP 1. Albert Pujols 2. Chase Utley 3. Hanley Ramirez 4. Troy Tulowitzki 5. Tim Lincecum 6. Adrian Gonzalez 7. Ryan Zimmerman 8. Ryan Braun 9. Pablo Sandoval 10. Prince Fielder

  15. Why wouldn't Kendall start and hit lead off? He is the second worst everyday player based on OPS in the National League and at least all of those around him steal bases so they can turn a walk or a single into more. Also, of all those catchers that qualify, he has the second worst CS%, has the second most errors, and has the worst Pitchers ERA. All of this and our manager continues to play him everyday and not only that, bats him lead off. It is really indefensible.
  16. Completey forgot about the year Zimmerman was having and I had no idea that Brad Hawpe's numbers were so good.
  17. I really worry about Prince making it as well. Pujols is a lock as starter and Gonzalez has had a great year and will most likely be the lone Padre selected unless they take Heath Bell. But here is where I have concerns. The Rockies and Nationals are awful and one of the best candidates on each team is a 1B. You have Helton for the Rockies and Nick Johnson for the Nationals. I guess you could take someone like Huston Street or Ubaldo Jimenez for the Rockies and Adam Dunn (maybe the more likely choice) for the Nationals, but one of those two could easily be selected. And I haven't even mentioned Ryan Howard yet.
  18. Why does Counsell get mad every time he bats, he has to know he is worthless, right?
  19. I am not a big Prince fan at all, but my goodness, I forgot how good he is when he is hot.
  20. Can Mike Lamb play outfield? I never thought I would say this, but Gwynn might be a better option than Hart right now. That is ridiculous.
  21. I'm almost positive I heard the beginning of Sunglasses at Night when Corey came up.. But then they switched to the Fox Game of the week.
  22. PRince is really bad this year. I know that was not a good throw, but man, for as bad as he is at 1st, he needs to do a lot better at the plate to be useful.
  23. I don't think he wanted Dunn to pinch hit there against the righty
  24. I have no problem with his pinch count... he is not going to pitch again for 10 days or so.
  25. Corey struck out twice that inning -- of course he is the Brewer on my fantasy team! I think he owes us all a case of beer!
