I don't really care if Macha gets fired up or not, that's a different issue. It makes sense to look at Macha's quote and say it's just some cliche thing, but it's Rickie's quote that is troubling and that's where I'm talking about the identity. This isn't the first time I'm recalling some sort of statement to this effect of "Macha wants this, but we're not that, so we're going to go back to being us". I can't remember where exactly I read these things before, but my mind is triggering statements about Macha not liking the celebrations last year and wanting them to stop this year. I'm recalling either Braun or Gerut saying something about it, and again, essentially saying we're going back to being us. (Have the outfielders been doing their high five in center after victories this year? I don't know for certain, but I don't recall seeing it.)

I'm liking where the season has progressed, and I'm curious how much the sudden shifts had to do with being cancelled. I like that characters are having to make new and hard decisions finally, instead of re-treading the same thing over again. Though I'm not sure right now about the remaining episodes. I'm sure they'll be fun, but is starting to look like Jack is going to go the vigilante-get revenge route, which while that makes for a cool Jack, I don't think the audience was really that attached to Renee, and beyond that, nothing of major consequence happened during the season with the Russians for the audience to want revenge on them, to really get the audience behind that. Monday's ending scene was a perfect example; Keifer played that scene great, you could feel that Jack was hurt and done, but ultimately, I'm not there with him because I didn't care about Renee and her crazy issues. Shooting Dana was only satisfying because her character was annoying, not because we wanted retribution for the things she had done.

Good to see the rally out of the offense. The ending was still a kick in the groin though. It's not so much the loss, but the spectacular fashion.

The Miller Lite commercials are annoying for the assumption that Miller Lite is a "manly" beer in the first place. RALLY CAPS!

This really sticks with me when I read something like this today; *Emphasis mine JSOnline I think there is a lot to worry about in that quote. As sheethead said, Macha doesn't match the identity of this team, and he's trying to get them to embrace his identity, which doesn't work, and it's fun to watch. Beyond that Macha tells them before the game to not be aggressive, and then Rickie says the team has to be aggressive and played the game aggressively regardless.

For once he isn't blaming someone else, he's blaming himself and supposedly he got in front of his teammates and said he needed to get some help. Ultimately it seems like he may have grown up a bit more suddenly in Seattle.

That's not even close to true, but all the same I did miss one this week, and am late getting it up tonight. Life happens sometimes, but that does raise this post well; One of the goals of this new format was to make it easier to set up than in the past. We tried to make them easier to edit, and have had a few people do it so far without breaking it. Setting up new ones would take some HTML know-how. A couple of big work deadlines got completed this week, so I can probably find some time this weekend to make more templates ahead that people can use, and write up an explanation. Thanks for trying.
