  1. Bunts are losing plays. There is little to get around that fact. Bunting over runners lowers run expectancy. Take the guy on 2B--why bunt when swining away can still advance the runner if the balls hit to the right or if you hit a deep fly. You get a hit and you get a run.
  2. Even more striking? In 2005 as Arizona's everday SS Counsell after two full months on May 31st was hitting .318/.431/.445. He ended 2005 at .256/.350/.375
  3. I'm really leary of Cain. like I've probably said before. His numbers seem to be driven by a low HR/rate and given his home park not sure how good he'll be in a more home run neutral park.
  4. Yes lets all pretend Turnbow is something he isn't because he should be able to do it by an arbitrary definition of what eh should do. Geno sounds like Yost.
  5. Not really sure why the bench needs 3 left handed hitters to begin with. You already have Gross and Counsell. The biggest reason to keep Gwynn has more to do with his base running than with his hitting.
  6. He wasn't a quality setup man and the team gave up a king's ransom to get him. Thatcher went to the Padres and out pitched him last year.
  7. Gross at the end of April 2006 was at .333/.412/.800 in 36 PAs.
  8. Gabe Gross April 14, 2006 .429/.500/.857
  9. 2nd consecutive appearance Mota sucked but has yet to be really tagged for it.
  10. Mota in New York--I don't see this ending well
  11. Schneider was safe but the ump was in a terrible position
  12. Huh! Willie used his LOOGY to keep Gross on the bench! FEAR THE GABE! Really, anyone tell Randolph Fielder is a leftie?
  13. FSN Wisconsin-We guarantee we'll have a camera shot somewhere near where the play is happening
  14. Heck he never should have batted
  15. Yeah you'd think they were Brewer fans or something!
  16. It is Seth "Hey, I couldn't even start for the Devil Rays" McClung
  17. Hey, can we make an in game roster move and get Yo ready to pitch?
  18. Suppan looks as bad as he did in Chicago. The difference is when he is missing his spots today he's getting jumped on.
  19. Keep in mind Kapler's good years were the peak of the second 90s offensive binge. There is a reason that Jenkins had his career year then.
  20. It could be his family is in town, a changed Birthday party for one of his kids whose birthday is during a road trip, his wife's family might have something going on, etc. Things change
  21. Nope people are already calling for him to start full time and even replacing Hart occasionally if Hart doesn't get "hot"
  22. Kevin Mench April 19 2007. .405/.419/.595 I'm thrilled that Kapler has done what he has. That doesn't mean he's turned onto a great player that needs more playing time
  23. If St Louis was an NCAA program it would have faced sanctions for lack of institutional control by this time.
  24. I'm not saying Bush has a #1 arm, he is an average to slightly above pitcher who can give you around 200 innings if healthy. People act like Bush is Vargas, basically replacement level. He isn't.
