  1. If Cleveland started out 6-0, then maybe Tiger fans should be worried. But they didn't.
  2. Because LaPorta's clock is ticking. If he can't handle the OF, he really has no place in Milwaukee in the next two years.
  3. Actually Bush is likely needed more next year. Either Suppan or Sheets is most likely gone next season.
  4. They said the exact same thing last year. And the year before that.
  5. Yeah the Brewers only throw out there old vets like Manny Parra, Yovani Gallardo, and Carlos Villaneuva!
  6. Turnbow is likely set to pitch today. Torres likely should not be used given his three inning outing, Riske had to throw a lot of pitches yesterday, Mota likely shouldn't be used back to back days if possible. If need be one of those three could pitch, but it would be best if they didn't have to. So that leaves Turnbow
  7. Shouldn't it have been moved to the alumni section?
  8. Bush would have to pass through waivers to go to AAA. And they still need his innings.
  9. Thing is what Bush has been has been about as good as Suppan has been for the recent past. Yes he had a sub 4 ERA in St Louis due to a great defense, but he's a 33 year old with a career ERA of 4.60 who played in the NL for the past 4 seasons. Bush is a 28 year old with a career ERA of 4.57 with over 1/3 of that in the AL.
  10. I could care less what Suppan did 3 years ago at this point. He is much more likely to fall off from last year than suddenly improve. Every single projection has Bush better than Suppan.
  11. You vastly overrate Suppan. Bush is better than Suppan. 90 pitchers better than Suppan? Suppan ranked #98 in VORP last season. Obviously there are some relievers in that, but Suppan is nowhere close to a 2/3, at best he's a 3/4.
  12. They also have Ad revenue. And right teh Yankees and YES aren't the same thing, but the owners are.
  13. When the winning run is already on 2B. So in a tie game bottom of the 9th/extra innings man on 2B or bottom of the 9th/extra innings 1 run lead men on 2B and 3B the IBB is almost always the right play. Depending upon some other variables (platoon advantages, going from an MVP candidate to a catcher who can't hit or run (though what kind of manager would do that?)) can kind of add a few more instances, but in general thats it. EDIT: I just thought of something, all this was done before WP% became popular. There tends to be a fairly discrete jump in WP from like 3 to 4 run lead but little from 4 to 5 run lead (ie it doesn't change WP that much if a team has a 4 run lead or a 5 run lead). That means there might be many more instances for a trailing team to use IBB because the difference of that on run in WP terms is meaningless. I don't know if anybody has looked at that.
  14. The Cubs announcers are much less homers than in the past. And its not like they are the Sox. And yes I'll still complain about Bill like I'd complain about anyone earning 6 figures for a 9 month job who basically gets all his info from production meetings.
  15. Rios is already 27 though. 6 years, ok, 7 is pushing it. But Erice Byrnes set the market at $10 million for a decent starting outfielder.
  16. The Yankees own YES. And it cost $1 a month to have on cable. So basically everyone in the New York viewing area and beyond pays $12 a year to the Yankees. It might no quite be $20 million month, but there are 20 million people in New York, 8.5 million people in New Jersey, Connecticut has 3.5 million and Delaware .75 million.
  17. Where is the I expect more of Villaneuva thread? He was getting pounded by the Giants!
  18. Football is just bigger than baseball. It just is. Be thankfull that the Brewers still domiante over the Badgers. You know in Texas in many places its: Dallas Cowboys Texas/Texas A&M Houston Texans Rangers/Astros Same reason that the only "basketball school" with a halfway decent football program is UCLA.
  19. The Yankees get like $20 million a month in YES rights fees alone.
  20. A Bob Knight hiring would mean most of the players leaving and the other players getting their scholarships revoked. Marquette would go on to be below .500 next year.
  21. It doesn't get a free pass, its just obvious that its bad idea. This was already pretty much well known when people said, hey if we walked McGwire all teh time he'd only have 1.00o OPS so we'd be ahead! At that time they basically showed that that IBB's are limited things-walking a meaningless runner to set up a double play. In gerneal walkign teh #8 hitter to get to the pitcher is foolish because most #8 hitter suck so you're giving a free base to a guy who would very likely make an out.
  22. Yep watching the incredibly crappy regular FSN feed compared to FSNHD is a killer.
  23. Dusty just want a lead off hitter who can take the heat in Cinncy. I mean the dome gets up to like 120 during the summer..... Wait, they have a new field?
  24. Cameron isn't a journey man, he's a top flight CFer. Weeks put up better numbers last year than Gwynn ever will. Weeks killed AAA pitching to force his way on to the team.
  25. So the Brewers should be in a win now mode except for Tony Gwynn who should just get a chance that he didn't earn because who knows, he might be good someday?
