  1. Does this mean Inman is ready? not close. But a 20 year old doing that at AA doesn't mean the guy had some sort of huge regression. And that he is repeating AA at 21 hardly means he is falling behind.
  2. Wise is on the Mets and likely to make the team. So yep the Mets dumped the Mota contract on the Brewers and picked up Wise for half the price
  3. There is no way that he would be allowed to leave the country any time soon so my guess is someone is making stuff up again
  4. Except of course he only did terrible if you judge ERA. He had 82 Ks in 80 innings of work in AA compared to 35 BBs as a 20 year old. Pitchers have to have a good deal of talent to K hitters that much. Yes he has some control issues but only those focused on ERA think he did terriblely.

  7. The Brewers have been burned on such signings under Melvin. You have Helms, Clark, Turnbow, and Podsednik (though the trade really made that Chicago's problem). Now obviously this isn't the same level of player, but the monetary risk also goes up.
  8. Sheets can be resigned if he is willing to leave some money on the table. I can easily see $15 million (Suppan plus Conusell's salaries) but not $18 million. Over likely five years, thats $15 million, so not exactly a small amount to leave sitting there. I see no way the Brewers go 6 years, and depending on the market that could happen.
  9. Right, I just don't think moving your line up to get what is likely your 4th best basestealer (after Weeks, Hart, and Cameron) more opportunities makes much sense. I like Braun 2nd if Yost won't hit and run. I guess I don't trust him on that given he likes using it so much.
  10. Can you explain why they dug out a Haudricourt picture from like 1988? Was it in the same vault as the mullet and mustache one of Bob Wolfey?
  11. Hitting Braun 2nd means less opportunities for Weeks to steal. Trading opportunities for Weeks to give Braun more opportunities makes little sense. Now if Yost is going to throw out the steal, fine, but thats not his stated reason. And if this would cause him to hit and run with Braun.....
  12. How often? Corey Koskie. More likely you get a Scott Rolen/Jim Edmonds type injury where they can play part of the time but miss significant portions of the season. And underperform when they do play.
  13. Braun's first Free agent year is 2014. Way, way to far afield to take the risk. If Braun gets injured and misses any significant time it kills any value you'd get. Buying out two year of arby for cost certainty is one thing, but then again the club takes on all injury risk. And Tulo's deal doesn't price that risk right.
  14. Thing is he really hasn't changed that much. In AAA in 2007 he hit .268/.329/.539. That still shows little discipline. And for Texas in 2006 in AAA it was .269/.313/.430. Like I said Branyan would be a better option than Nix if you're just looking for a bench power bat.
  15. Yes Gross is better than Nix. Nix sucks. Nix has had 917 PAs in MLB and has produced .238/.273/.406. Nix would severely struggle to get a .300 OBP while Gross's worst projection is .340. Gwynn is a much better option than Nix and Gross still swamps both. Now Branyan versus Gross would be closer, but Gross is still slightly better offensively and being able to cover CF much more needed defensively.
  16. Yeah Gross is not anywhere near a roster squeeze. Now if someone really wants Gross something might happen but not because Gabe Kapler is around.
  17. Villanueva pre All Star: 60.1 inn 55K, 24 BB, 5 HR Post All Star: 54.0 inn, 44 K, 29 BB, 11 HR While he wasn't as good as his ERA suggested in the first half, the evidence points to him wearing down. And 60 innings in like 85 games is a pretty large amount in relief. Turnbow had 68 for the season and he was worked a lot.
  18. If Prince growing dreads makes him into Ordonez, is that ok?
  19. Just, I prefer my baseball heroes not have the same eccentric dietary practices and weak-stomached attitudes as Lisa Simpson. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I can sleep at night, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.... (no pun intended) It's like finding out Mr. T wears women's shoes or something. Que sera sera. The fact that you buy into the myth that Real Men! must eat meat says much more about you than anything Fielder has done.
  20. If fans didn't really care when salaries quadrupled in the 1990s. why will they care when they double over the next 10 years?
  21. The difference is the Brewers can buyout those years. The Phillies can't unless they overpay, Howard wants to stick it to the front office.
  22. The main reason is that Parra has yet to actually pitch for any length of time without getting hurt.
  23. Don't know exactly where you are, but there is this: http://www.sorgsmeats.com/
  24. There is absolutely no reason to think Fielder will regress. Keep in mind that even with his great year, his BABIP was only .286. so while he might not quite hit 50 again, no reason to expect that won't be picked up elsewhere with a higher BA and OBP.
  25. Keep in mind the background that Howard has been furious that the Phillies kept him in the minors for so long so that he won't get his big FA contract until he's the wrong side of 30. So he has no incentive to make things easy for them.
