  1. Except there is no reason to expect him to bounce back. His FIP the past three seasons: 4.51, 4.90, 5.73(!). His K/BB ratio: 1.75, 1.64, 1.14.
  2. Bullcrap. McClung and Turnbow are in no way simultaneously warming up to start the 8th in any normal circumstance.
  3. Capellan was too thought of as a potential starter by the Brewers. He was taken out of starting after he threw a hissy fit about not closing.
  4. I really don't know if I could stand being a Twins fan. They seem to win despite their best efforts to put roadblocks in their way. They make their living off of drafting well but have a major league manager who hates playing young players. So they sign a bunch of crappy veterans to bad contracts and end up having to dump them. This should be a rebuilding year, so why waste $5 million on a pitcher who most think is much older than his reported age and has been going downhill for the last three seasons?
  5. I don't get why you are so hung up about Villanueva's ranking after 2005. The difference between the number 15th prospect and the number 40th prospect of an organization isn't that great and depends a lot on how someone values tools versus major league readiness versus injury susceptability.
  6. Sheets would easily take a hometown discount, just likely not a huge one. And unlike say Oswalt he'd be signing up with a team that actually has a chance to win in the next few years.
  7. By the same "logic" the Brewers are a much better team without Ryan Braun
  8. By the same "logic" the Brewers are a much better team without Ryan Braun
  9. By the same "logic" the Brewers are a much better team without Ryan Braun
  10. No they don't. They may say they don't know, but right after the game Pujols was saying what a foolish thing to do to give them baserunners. McClung got out of the suspension mostly because it would likely have been career ending and thats a stiff penalty for following your mangers instructions.
  11. Really, calling Sheets injury prone and then to protect us we start Parra?
  12. Well considering Yost had to be told to get a pinch hitter ready by his VanderWahl to get a pinch hitter ready his first year on the job, his ing ame management has improved!
  13. Kendall can hit 8th. Estrada can't because you can't bunt Estrada over. That say a lot
  14. That defense has to sit back waiting due to all the Ks! http://www.fangraphs.com/graphs/1701_P_season_full_1_20071001.png
  15. Any system that predicted Braun's season is most likely crap by any measure. Prediction based on extreme outlier events is a stupid thing to do. Braun had a historic season for a rookie, the fact that PECOTA didn't hit on it isn't a big deal.
  16. Nope it was the last week of the season Yost was still doing that.
  17. See though you can do both. Yost would pitch Turnbow, a guy who doesn't do well back to back days, in 5 run games in the 9th and then bring him the next day and watch him have no control and let him give up the lead before doing anything.
  18. The defensive struggles reason was also extremely relevant. I sure hope they did their math right and avoided Super 2 status for Braun. I doubt it, the injury most likely played a bigger role.
  19. He did not play a full season. You need to have 6 full years of service time for free agency. That was the whole point about keeping Braun in Nashville for a month to buy an entire additional year.
  20. Braun isn't really part of this. He's Brewer property for 6 more seasons which means through his 30 year old season.
  21. But Scott isn't part of the future. Again he turns 30 in June. The Orioles really are looking two years down the line at best. No reason to carry a guy whose prime might be very short lived. As for Roberts vs DeRosa, DeRosa is unlikely to match what he did last year, and while Roberts 2008=DeRosa 2007, DeRosa 2008 is not DeRosa 2007. Given Pinella apparently doesn't like Pie, better have guy who he'll play than a guy rotting on the bench or in Iowa
  22. The Orioles should turn around and trade Scott now (or by the deadline). When the rest of the team is under 27 you don't need a 30 year old OFer even if he is cheap.
