The Brewers could have brought Counsell back if they wanted to at a reduced price. Counsell didn't want to come back at a price the Brewers were willing to offer. The Brewers didn't offer arby to Counsell to try to get a draft pick because then you can only cut by 20% and they thought no one would sign Counsell for more so he'd be back at $2 million.
Helms can be brought back at any price. If the market for 3B wasn't so sad, he'd be a Brewer next year for 700k. Since the market is terrible I expect him to get some starting offers in the $1.5-2 million per for 2 years range. Hopefully I'm wrong.
You know what is the most embarassing thing about tonight? Not the three hits off Wright but that Wright had a 7 pitch inning. Yes Wright who walks anyone only needed 7 pitches to get through the 6th.
The Brewers always downplay injuries. Spivey was day to day for a month last year. It took forever to DL Sheets this year. And who knows how injured Clark is?
So are the Brewers signs something like holding up a big placard saying hit and run? I don't know how many times the Brewers hit and run with either a high otside fastball or even a pitch out.
