  1. Given Hart missed all of Spring Training I doubt its going to happen now. I think Hart to 1B was more in case Gamel struggled while Aoki or Gindl were killing the ball.
  2. And yet Bagwell didn't get voted in with only the vaguest of rumors out there.
  3. Baseball players are protected by teams and the league. Braun's legal team knows that push too much and that protection can disappear. ARod wasn't shown with strippers until he opted out of his Yankee contract after all. So yes Braun does have something to lose.
  4. And this is why you might want to give a guy a debut in a blowout
  5. So the ump was the only person in the park who thought that wasn't ball 4
  6. I think Marcum might get more than that. The Free Agent class stinks for position players. Teams have tons of money.
  7. Dillard is out of options and is the last guy in the pen. No reason to waste Peralta doing that. But Dillard versus Helton in a severe mismatch. Dillard is only effective vs RHers.
  8. The run expectancy table Run Expectancy Matrix, 1993-2010 BASES 0 OUTS 1 OUT 2 OUTS ___ 0.539 0.289 0.111 1__ 0.929 0.555 0.240 _2_ 1.172 0.714 0.342 __3 1.444 0.984 0.373 12_ 1.542 0.948 0.464 1_3 1.844 1.204 0.512 _23 2.047 1.438 0.604 123 2.381 1.620 0.798 So yes its a losing play. Like the bunt was.
  9. He has an FIP of 3.00 as a reliever. Hardly outstanding but to pretend that is not worth it as a #6 guy is wrong
  10. As well as with a guy on 2nd and one out. The contact play should always be on in that situation. What did they lose exactly? After the out at the plate, there were guys on 1st and 3rd with 2 outs. Had the runners held, there would be guys on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs. Not much difference. You make the defense make the play and the tag at the plate every single time there. They lost the ability to score 2 runs with a single. Its a losing play. Either a guy gets the ball and you're out at home or he doesn't and you can walk home anyway. There is no advantage to it.
  11. No it isn't. The top starters average 92-93. Most guys average less than that. Yeah relievers throw harder but a starter consistently bringing it at that pace is a fine fastball That said Estrada is tiring
  12. Can some explain to Bill that a 91-92 mph fastball is typically a good fastball for a starter? And a left handed starter throwing that is actually bringing decent heat?
  13. Lucroy hits 8th because he knows how to "clear the pitcher." The fact that getting on base hitting 7th or 8th has almost the exact same effect on clearing the pitcher is irrelevant.
  14. Braun had 4 bad, well really bad games. He was fine before that.
  15. Estrada is a right handed version of Narveson.
  16. Kemp had a terrible throw and even though it looked like Ellis did get Morgan before he got the plate Kemp's terrible throw up the line made it a safe call.
