  1. It is almost always called like that. Karros was just bored. Basically if it gets in the glove the out at 2B is given.
  2. Not sure if you want a real answer, but it is so that it doesn't cut into affiliate's ratings
  3. Am I the only one who has never seen the Cubs-Cardinals rivalry as friendly?
  4. Well Kyle McClellan still sucks. And the Cardinals did somehow use 4 pitchers in a blowout even after their starter gave them 6 innings. Its about the small things.

  6. Its Lawrie and another prospect. So no that deal did not exist. Getting pitching without giving up pitching is really hard to do.
  7. There was some speculation that he would only hire an agent now if he had a contract pretty much agreed to. If not he would hold off until later. Greinke doesn't seem to be one to look for endorsement deals.
  8. Yeah just to be clear, there are two versions of the Vita, one for $250 that is WiFi only and one for $300 that is WiFi and 3G. The 3G is ala carte so no contract. The other thing is that you need to buy a separate memory card. An 8 GB one comes with the $300 bundle, it normally sells for $30 alone. All that said, Sony will be having deals on it very soon (they have been giving away free memory cards with purchase plus some other stuff in Japan).
  9. If Gomez could have an OBP of .320 just against LHers the bench would look awesome...
  10. Green is in AAA if Gamel falters. Ramirez is not long for 3B. If Green hits and Gamel doesn't I expect Green up and Gamel to the bench. If Gindl hits and Gamel doesn't I'd expect Hart to go to 1B (or I think that was the plan until Hart missed most of the spring so didn't get time at 1B). If Gamel hits, Green hits and Gindl hits I expect Hart to be traded in the off season, Gamel moved to RF, Ramirez to 1B and Green to 3B with Gindl getting more time in AAA. Or Gamel might get moved too if they feel he can't handle the OF.
  11. Really doubt Hart was even thinking. It was just him saying the typical that everyone gets along, yada yada yada and then realized he may have sounded negative about last year and inartfully backtracked
  12. Trading Jeff Cirillo for extra 4 wins in 1992 would have been better for the Brewers than the 24 wins he gave the Brewers in the mid 90s over 5 and a half years.
  13. Not spending 700K more in salary for .5 a win is foolhardy
  14. No its actually fairly easy to win. 4 marginal wins on a 86 win team is much more valuable than 4 wins on a 75 win team
  15. Only if you assume his 19.7 fielding score was accurate. Hart has had three season where his bat was better than that including the last two.
  16. The Orioles are looking to move Reynolds. Now his contract is terrible ($8m, the downside of locking up young talent through their arby years) but if the Orioles ate like $5.5-6m I'd much rather have him coming off the bench to hit than Conrad. But that does require getting a Fontenot/Theriot type who can actually play the field as a real backup infielder.
  17. The Royals balked on moving Greinke when the Brewers approached them early last offseason IIRC. That almost ceratinaly would have involved Lawrie with Lawrie moving to the outfield for the Royals (and if he though the Brewers were blocking him, Lawrie would have loved the Royals). Then Greinke asked to be traded after the deal for Marcum happened.
  18. Yeah its more on the teams and MLB being disorganized than anything else. No one gets them the info. Do they still work spring training games with partial umpiring crews?
  19. Everything I've seen listed all his tools as decent except for power which he has never really shown until 2nd half of last year. Now some have said he's better than that but Morgan is one of the best defensive CFers in the game. Morgan in a part time role was a 4 win player last year. It is really hard to expect that to be replaced easily.
  20. I guess this just seems like a big overreaction to the Ramirez signing. Come opening day the Brewers will have most likely a 26 year old home grown starting pitcher throwing to a 25 year old home grown starting catcher with a home grown 25 year old at 1B a home grown 29 year old at 2B, a home grown 28 year old LFer and maybe a home grown 30 year old in RF.
  21. And most scouts think his defense is just OK and so is a significant downgrade from Morgan.
