  1. Don't buy now. Drive prices are through the roof. Stick some stuff on Microsoft's Skydrive if you have to.
  2. He's still Brewer property next year if he signs. So no it doesn't really help him.
  3. Latest guess-timateI see no way he comes over for so little. Now maybe it will be $1.5m a year over 4 which might make him interested, but really doubt $1.5 alone does anything. He can most likely wait a year and get more than that.
  4. I thought it was the other way around - Melvin didn't want Gallardo. Nope, Jack Z didn't.
  5. The A's are in a holding pattern until something happens on their stadium front
  6. Look what the Nats gave up for Gonzalez.
  7. Jurrjens isn't a sub 3 ERA pitcher. He was the same pitcher he was in 2010, a 4.25 ERA in the NL with concerns about how many innings you can get out of him. He was as valuable as Narveson last year and is about to cost close to as much as Hart because of that lucky ERA.
  8. Fukudome had serious power in Japan, Aoki doesn't. Aoki is a downgrade from Morgan, not sure how people can see otherwise.
  9. Don't forget he can't take coaching either. Part of the reason Royals fans hate this is they saw Yuni put on 20 lbs and eat his way to having no range. And they've read about him refusing to listen to his coaches (we got part of that in Milwaukee).
  10. This isn't a SABR thing. Scouts and stats have agreed for years that Betancourt is terrible. And yes he is among a handful of the worst players the Brewers have ever started for an entire season.
  11. Actually everyone here now knows what Braun tested positive for, something that wouldn't have happened otherwise. The media did nothing wrong save maybe a headline on ESPN.com. A MLB or lab source revealed a test, ESPN got a solid second source, ran the story and the Braun side confirmed it. Now it isn't the full story just like all the crime reporting isn't the full story, but compared to other things they've done in the past ESPN has handled this correctly.
  12. And in totally unrelated news, the NFL has inked a long term TV contract. Seriously, every single network depends on the NFL and that's why they get treated like they do. Now trying to figure out how the NBA gets caught with a ref fixing games and nothing happens is a true mystery.
  13. At this point Alonso's bat is WAY more polished than Gamel. I don't think it's fair comparing Gamel to Alonso at this point. Based on what? A month of plate appearances?
  14. Its 2011. Is herpes really that taboo that when a rumor of this nature comes from several sources its inappropriate to discuss the medical implications?Braun has Herpes? OMG! That means he has had sex!
  15. I don't see how Hall gets anything but an NRI anywhere. Well unless the Dodgers give him a contract.
  16. Except that it is fairly common for late coming immigrants to lie about their age to try to get a full US high school education.
  17. Theriot has stopped hitting in addition to being a bad fielder.
  18. Not sure why people are complaining here. The Cards made an offer that was way below market value. Why wouldn't that be an insult?
  19. I think MLBTRade rumours pull these numbers out of their Pujols. Veras was a NRI last season I don't see how he gets $2.5m.
  20. He's not an upgrade over Loe at all. He's a decent arm not much more than that. Basically an average short reliever.
  21. Much rather they made a run at Edwin Jackson with this money even if they then had to take less in return for Narveson or Estrada.
  22. He's not really a huge luxury. He'll make maybe $300-400k more than Moldonaldo would.
  23. Whether that contract is guaranteed is a big thing.
  24. When taken for short bouts (ie right before a game) it is supposed to help with concentration. Same reason students in college take it before exams.
  25. So sign some schlub to do that. 200-250 PAs isn't a big deal when split with McGehee.
