  1. The Kia ad was my favorite, but it might be because I have a soft spot for sock monkeys and Muno, plus that song is awesome.
  2. There are several reasons this is good news for Wisconsin. 1) It's a decent chunk of money the Fed is investing in the state. 2) It means more jobs in the state, including manufacturing jobs... From trains.com (can't link because it's subscriber only) " Talgo, a railcar builder in Spain, has its eyes on a few different locations in the state where the cars would be constructed. Also, the state will buy eight new energy-efficient locomotives, which might also be built in Wisconsin." 3) It would make easier to live in Milwaukee and work in Madison/Chicago, or vice versa. 4) Even if you never use it to ride on, it makes your driving easier by taking cars off the road. 5) The drive on I-94 from Pewaukee to Madison has to be the most boring stretch of road in the state. 6) Rail gets the least amount of funding from the federal government. You pay far more in taxes for roads and airports you'll never use than trains.
  3. If they can extend it all the way to Minnesota with their own track (between Watertown and Madison, this will be the case) this will be really forward thinking. While a line from Milwaukee to Madison might not be impressive, a high speed line connecting Chicago and the Twin Cities would be really useful for business travels who might otherwise consider flying. It would increase the usefulness a bit if there was a stop for Miller Park, especially considering how close the Canadian Pacific lines in Milwaukee run near it. Personally, I'd much rather take the train to Madison or Chicago than drive there, as I can read, sleep or surf the internet.
  4. One advantage to evening the size of the divisions is that it's probably the easiest way to increase each team's chances of making the playoffs without changing player contracts or a salary cap.
  5. I like slamonline but I haven't read Pro Football Talk so I don't know if it's similar.
  6. Lately I've wondered whether they've set up the Jim storyline as a "this is how Michael became Michael", but there are a few big differences between the two that makes me think this isn't the case.
  7. The players can't really do anything about trying to sway the refs (unless if you're Kobe and complain through the media), but the fans should just start chanting Donaghy whenever the refs are clearly showing favoritism or miss an obvious call.
  8. I think Louisville and Kansas City and Louisville might have the same problems with pro basketball that Jacksonville has with football. The Bucks, IIRC, had the third best record in the 1980s, it's just that they couldn't get past the Celtics. As a Milwaukee resident, I don't understand why some people (Journal letter writers) seem to actively want the Bucks to leave. While it might not be possible to go to a professional basketball game that often, it's nice to have the option.
  9. Following Glee was worth it, if even just for the Beyonce Football team dance number.
  10. I took mythology. It's interesting, especially if you like literature as many of the stories influence books are are directly referenced by them. Probably the hardest part is keeping track of all of the normal people Zeus hooked up with.
  11. I'll watch it, but it looks like some of the things I liked about the original are missing (like the design of the village... plus it looks like it won't be an island anymore).
  12. The Bucks are getting a surprising amount of attention from non-Bucks fans among blog writers and podcasts that I follow, which is pretty cool. My worry with Jennings is that no one has really paid attention to him from his year overseas, and once there's more video, it'll be easier to shut him down. That'll be the real test, sort of like when pitchers adapt to hitters. If Jennings can switch it up on defenders, he should have a good shot at ROY. The players I've seen listed ahead of him haven't done well so far. Griffin is out at least six weeks. Evans hasn't done well in his first few games, and Flynn is already losing minutes to Sessions.
  13. So is anyone planning on trying out for Bogut's squad. I'd do it if I didn't have a toddler/had more charisma.
  14. There's a chance you might be able to find a stethoscope that cheap at Walgreens.
  15. They should make a bango alternate with his leg in a cast.
  16. One thing that helped me get out of debt (mostly) was reading the advice on http://www.getrichslowly.org/blog/
  17. A vote for Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother. My wife watches House.
  18. One thing that seems like it might be possible to get people to agree to without a strike, would be something like franchise players. Ideally, I think a baseball team would need to be able to make at least two players franchise players (say one pitcher and one position player). With the franchise tag, the players would only be able to negotiate with their team, but could seek arbitration if they felt they weren't being payed fairly (just trying to think of a way to make this acceptable to the players). Maybe the tag would also come with an automatic player option no trade clause, to give a player a little control over their future, and to prevent teams from just trying to hold onto their trading chips. The other possibility, considering how much less the MLBPA worries about players in the minors/rookies, would be to make it easier and safer for teams to sign players who are just starting out for terms longer than six years.
  19. If they have one of him, it needs to be at the end of the season, and they need to announce the give away at every single game. There's nothing like hearing the name Bill Jo Robidoux over the PA.
  20. They should do the Two Fisted Slopper.
  21. I can't remember Friday or Sunday, but Saturday was Frank Cat and Monday was Braden Looper.
  22. My only complaint so far is that it seems like they recycled some of the artwork from last year
  23. I'm doing it again this year. It gives me something to do with my son each day. The Miller Park board is huge, and this year they include the entire team. The magnets are nicer too, but they're also a bit more expensive.
  24. At this point, is it pretty much certain that Ramon Sessions is going to the Clippers or Knicks? Google News seems hazy on the subject
