  1. Chat should be working again. It appears to me that it exits stage left when Yuku does pushes to deal with other issues.
  2. With the PTBNL thing, I too always thought that the rule was the player couldn't play in the same league from the time the trade was announced until the end of the year. That's more or less how I remember it. That's not necessarily inconsistent with the 40-man roster idea, though. Once the season ends, the entire 40-man roster would be major leaguers.
  3. The Brady Bunch and Gilligan's Isle, among many other things. Among other things…
  4. Is this on your Blackberry tablet or on a traditional system?
  5. Based on what I'm hearing from others around the system, chat appears to be out of commission. I can't get past the black "connecting" screen. If others would care to quickly check and report back, it'd be appreciated.
  6. I'm 99% certain that vesting options cover the regular season only.
  7. Before the season began, it was reported that Bill would be taking eight games off in July. Cirillo will take his place for most of those games. Some games will have someone else in the color spot. To address the topic title, I think Jeff's on air "personality" is great. I agree with those who've said that he's interesting to listen to. I also agree with those who say that he lacks polish. However, I think that he could acquire that polish with time and practice. I try not to judge too heavily on the "professional" stuff when a broadcaster isn't professionally trained, especially when he's thrown to the wolves without experience. It's kind of like beating a dead horse.
  8. The problems are all across the system, so at this point, we have to assume that Yuku's aware of the issue.
  9. I was able to get in when I tried about an hour ago. (I couldn't post, though, because of white pages.) I'd keep trying. If you continue to be unsuccessful at getting in and there's nothing to indicate that it's a known issue or that others are having the same problem, it may be necessary to submit a help ticket.
  10. The chat server was restarted about 1:30 this afternoon. I can get in, and I've heard that others are having success, too. Give it a shot if you have a moment.
  11. I'm getting the same error. This was posted by staff on July 3. As it turns out, the workaround isn't working for me, but you can give it a shot. Most users won't see a reload button in the chat window. In Firefox for Windows, hitting F5 or CTRL-R would do a standard reload. CTRL-F5 would do a hard refresh (which bypasses your cache). Firefox for Mac would use Command-R for a standard reload and Command-Shift-R for a hard refresh. If you want to have a reload button available, you can enter chat by its direct URL. That would open it in a new tab. In addition to chat issues, some members are having trouble logging out. There are two workarounds: Right-click on the logout link and open it in a new tab. Log out from any page that has the new navigation bar, e.g. www.yuku.com. You can get to Yuku's main page by hitting the Yuku logo (http://static.yuku.com/output/bypass/images/yuku.gif) in the navigation bar.If you'd like, you can peruse all recent announcements on the announcements board.
  12. I'd like to know Melvin's criteria for a hiring a manager? As someone else noted on this board, he always seems to be looking for a guy who isn't like the previous guy. That's often the case. It seems to me that usually it's a personality shift, i.e. players' manager to disciplinarian or vice versa. The Brewers' most recent managers have had rather unique personalities, though. I'd qualify Ned Yost as both a players' manager and disciplinarian. And I'd qualify Macha as neither. Doug hired Ned because of his enthusiasm; that was made clear. In Macha, I'd guess that he was looking for a strategic improvement. In Roenicke, I think he was turned on once again by enthusiasm. My gut says that Doug doesn't really go into the hiring process with the goal of hiring a certain "type." I think weighs his options as he gets to know the candidates.
  13. Hi, and welcome aboard. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I don't have any suggestions, but I know that there are people around here who can offer some.
  14. Please continue any discussion in this topic: Come on Brewers, this bench is awful -- how about some changes?
  15. A hitting streak remains intact when a player misses games. It also remains intact if a player appears in a game but doesn't have a plate appearance, or if all plate appearances result in any combination of walks, hit batsmen, defensive interference, or sacrifice bunts. A sac fly without a hit would end the streak. Source… Wikipedia: Hitting Streak
  16. A few years ago, there was an article posted here about OBPs that were lower than BAs. It's since been taken offline. I believe it stated that this happens to about one player per year with more than 50 ABs, and about half of these players are pitchers. Billy Beane was one of the players that had this happen.
  17. Leave it alone for the time being. I'm hearing that avatars are reappearing, either through the efforts of staff or on their own. If it persists for a couple more days, you should put in a help ticket. pretendastronaut has same thing is going on. I'd definitely advise against changing avatars at this time. There's a known issue with image uploads. I can't see any images in my Yuku folders right now.
  18. It bugs me to see Amish people on TV and in movies saying things like "thee," "thou," and other similar archaic words. I've never heard an Amish person say any of those things. They use the same English as the rest of us.
  19. Chat should be ready to go. If you have any problems or comments, feel free to comment in this topic or in a new thread here in Issues.
  20. I've added this topic to the Designated Threads List.
  21. Please see this topic for updates: Updates: Yuku access and chat issues
  22. As many of you know, Yuku has moved us to new servers and has pushed new chat software. There are issues with both. This was posted late last night by Yuku staff: Yuku announcements can be found at announcements.yuku.com. Logically, this board wasn't created until after issues arose during the first round of moves on Saturday.
  23. If McGehee needs "protection," RRR could hit him ninth and let Rickie protect him.
  24. I see that Toby's board is accessible again, but you need to log in to see it. It's now on the new server (amazonaws.com). The chat room has changed, too, but it doesn't work. Toby may need to re-create it. It appears that you need to log in separately to post on that board.
  25. I've been hearing that there've been major access issues on many boards all day. It appears that boards are either being moved to new servers, new chat software is being installed, or both. At this point, Brewerfan and LambeauLeap have been unaffected, but BF Political Scene is totally inaccessible. I'd expect that Brewerfan and LambeauLeap could go down at some point. Yuku's helpdesk has posted this announcement: These things never, ever go smoothly. Some type of warning would have been nice.
