  1. A couple of days ago, Best Buy begged HP to take the TouchPads back. Maybe that has something to do with the "recall." It appears that there's a shopping cart glitch on HP's website. The advertising shows the correct $99 price, but the carts are computing the previous $399 price.
  2. Fox has exclusive rights to the Saturday broadcasts, so it makes sense to carry the Cubs in Chicago. It's possible that you could have seen the Cubs and Sox on two channels, but Fox wouldn't have been one of them.
  3. I think that you can bet that this tablet might not be good for much at all in a couple of years. But it might hold you over if you feel inclined to wait and see what Apple, Android, and Microsoft are doing at that point rather than making a significant investment now.
  4. .750 is fine as it's in line with what other third basemen do and it's far from being a black hole. One might even feel safe in projecting that number. That doesn't mean that the Brewers shouldn't be considering other options, e.g. Green, for next year.
  5. Allegedly they are going to be continuing to develop WebOS but no more hardware (tablets, smartphones). The future of webOS is certainly up in the air. HP wants to continue with it, but it doesn't look like there's a plan for it. As for the TouchPad, it sounds like it was doomed before it hit the shelves. HP tested webOS on an iPad. It ran over twice as fast as the TouchPad. Except for printers, it looks like HP wants to get out of the hardware business entirely. Over the coming months, the company is going to be exploring it's options with personal computers. The division could be spun off into another company, sold to someone else, or discontinued entirely. It's no secret that the company isn't making money on PCs. I read somewhere recently that HP needs to sell seven computers to make the same profit that Apple does on one Mac. Of course, if you buy an HP PC, you can expect a normal life expectancy no matter what the company chooses to do. Windows and Linux will continue to exist.
  6. I think the TouchPad is WiFi only. I don't believe it's possible to access any mobile carriers. The big negative I see is that if there are bugs in the software, I wouldn't expect updates. Another is that since this is a dead platform, I wouldn't expect wemasters to be putting much effort into making sure that their sites work on this thing. The way I look at this, if you buy with low expectations, you might find value given the price. If you expect it to do what an iPad does, you'll be disappointed.
  7. Since the All Star Break: 113AB, .301 BA, .344 OBP, .451 SLG, .795 OPS This looks like regression to the mean, depending on what you define the mean as.
  8. HP TouchPad Fire Sales Begin, $99 for 16GB HP is getting out of the tablet and smart phone business, there's a lack of apps, and nothing else uses the webOS operating system, but if you'd like something cheap for browsing the web and don't care that it'll be obsolete in a short period of time, this might be a viable purchase.
  9. Bob Uecker, Brian Anderson, Bill Schroeder, and Davey Nelson are employed by the Brewers. Cory Provus is employed by WTMJ. I'd bet with a fair amount of certainty that because we've seen them on other FSN productions, Craig Coshun and Telly Hughes are employed by FSN. I don't have anything that confirms this, but I'm certain that Jeff Grayson is employed by FSN. The guys who do the WMLW pre-and post-game shows are employed by Channel 58. I'd have no clue about the rest. I want the announcers to tell it like it is, but I don't want them to be so harsh that they're insulting people. (Well, someone like Carlos Zambrano deserves to be insulted, but that's an exception.) I think they're generally critical when it's warranted. Sometimes, I think they just miss the boat. As an example, I think that Brian and Bill truly believe that Yuni is a good defender. I remember an interview with Merle Harmon years ago. He said that as a home announcer, he was much more likely to be critical of a good team than a poor one. I see a certain amount of sense to that. If watching a team is already unpleasant, adding a lot of unpleasant commentary isn't going to motivate one to stay tuned.

  12. I used to occasionally adorn my dog in a bandanna. I'm not sure if that counts as clothing or not, but it certainly didn't bother him. There are some dogs that need a sweater or jacket to stay warm in cold weather. That falls under the category of a necessity for those breeds, though. I occasionally had to put boots on my dog to take him outside. There'd be something about certain types of snow that would make his feet cold, and he'd hobble around pathetically. I could never figure out any pattern for what might have caused this; it didn't seem to be temperature-related. Thankfully, this didn't occur often. He wasn't fond of the process of having the boots put on his feet, but he was fine once they were on. Had I needed to do this all the time, he would have likely equated the boots to a trip outside and been totally cooperative. They were a little clumsy, but they did the trick for a short trip around the yard to allow him to do his business.
  13. There's some discussion earlier in this topic making the point that the best way to merge if for both lanes to remain populated until the point of merger. At that point, vehicles from each lane take turns merging. I don't see that happening without an aggressive educational campaign, though. I agree that the moron who guns it and passes everyone is a complete jerk. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. Please use LambeauLeap's Fantasy Football forum for fantasy football topics. Since you're not a member over there, I'll set up posting access for you. That'll allow you to skip the application process. You should receive an automated PM in a couple of minutes.
  15. I can't think of any rookies that have ever been good pinch hitters Along with the appropriate sample size disclaimer, here's Prince Fielder's 2005 pinch hitting line: ABRH2B3BHRRBITBBBSOSBCSBAOBPSLGOPS282800291411100.286.300.500.800Given the line that Russ posted above, this doesn't look bad at all. It beats what a lot of pinch hitters are doing.
  16. Wednesday was a BP night. And Monday had reduced price Terrace Reserved.
  17. I'd suggest using the Trading Post. I'm not sure when the best timing would be, though.
  18. It makes total sense for a fan to need to unload a half a dozen tickets. Fifty seems a little strange, though.
  19. Posted about an hour and a half ago… Brewerfan is on c1, so if you experience issues with the search, this is why. I see it's down right now.
  20. Screaming isn't appropriate, but it's certainly inconvenient to have to sort the situation out. It affects the bysitters in addition to those directly involved. When I'm either directly or indirectly involved with one of these situations, I'll stay as polite as possible, even though it can try my patience… especially in the middle of an inning. It's easier to bear if someone's a section off or a row off. It's harder to be patient if people have to move because they're obviously nowhere near the spot they're entitled to.
  21. I don't know how anyone defines "clutch"… For starters, I'd stay away from RISP stats because they totally ignore the "clutchness" of getting on base with the bases empty. If someone doesn't get on base to begin with, RISP situations don't exist.
  22. Moved to the Major League forum: http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?t=25750 It's a good fit over there as there are several other ticket topics of interest.
  23. Maybe being a players manager and having a good team is like 95 % of it and in game decisions is the other half. Did you borrow that from Yogi Berrra? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  24. trwi7, the pictures you're trying to link to seem to be on a "mail" subdomain. You might be trying to link to mail attachments. You'll likely have to upload the images someplace where they can be accessed directly. (I didn't actually edit anything in your post; I accidentally hit Save instead of Back or Cancel.) theavrock, a pinch collar might be another option. I think the special collars are still considered "behavioral." It's just that they're an aid.
  25. WTMJ will definitely be able to carry the "Bob and Cory" version of all post-season games, but whether the Brewers Radio Network will be able to is a good question. Back in '82, I don't think the home broadcast was available outside of Milwaukee for any post-season games. Bob and Dwayne Mosely would refer to "Radio 11" rather than "Brewers Radio Network." The Packer Super Bowl situation is kind of unusual. The NFL considers Milwaukee to be a Packers "home city," which means that the Wayne Larrivee broadcast can be carried in both Green Bay and Milwaukee. Usually, the Super Bowl can only be carried with "home" announcers in a team's single home city.
