  1. dlk9s, I think it'd be totally fine if you didn't do any work and the only reason you brought over the baby sitter was so you could watch the whole game in peace.
  2. pitchleague, if you'd like, we could remove your board access until maybe 10 PM CDT or so. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. And thanks, pretendastronaut, for all the work you've put into the in-game threads, both last year and this year. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. I just played with the online ticket gizmo. It's still possible to get two seats together in every area I checked (all Field categories and Loge Diamond).
  5. What did the original English-language paragraph say?
  6. Look around on the alternate sports channels if you're have DirecTV or DISH. On DirecTV, you might find also the game within the Extra Innings channels. (Extra Innings broadcasts of one's "home" teams are blacked out. But if you're entitled to a particular broadcast for another reason, that channel will be turned on.) Appleton would likely be too far away, but for those who can pick up channel 58 over the air, WMLW is on subchannel 58.2.
  7. I thought everyone recognized hawing. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  8. A User-Agent Switcher for Chrome extension is now available. This will allow you to spoof sites into "thinking" you're posting in another browser. A button will appear between your URL bar and the page menu that'll allow you to switch user agents on the fly. More customization is available by going to "Extensions" in the Tools menu, then hitting the options button next to the extensions name. In the customization area, you can add more user agent strings; and you can add specific domains for which you'd like to to spoof your browser identity. I've chosen to fool yuku.com into "thinking" I'm using Firefox 3.6.3 for Mac.
  9. If you want to get technical, Hall and Sanchez were traded, and de los Santos' contract was sold. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. That was intentional, so that people could see the numbers, and would have to highlight the text to see the name. (That's similar to how most sites handle spoilers.)Sorry about that. Sometimes people get background colors mixed up with text colors. Scroll up and see the current spoiler solution. I hid the post above with your full explanation and quoted the part that doesn't ruin the spoiler.
  11. Telling her September 31st would have been cool.
  12. It should also be noted that at the time, Braun's contract was the largest ever for a player with so little service.
  13. Ah, yes, the annual April Fools topic. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Good work.
  14. Backupcatchers, I hope you gave your wife the wrong answer or pretended not to know at all. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. It started because I'm going to need new equipment to continue to receive local channels. The dish itself is generally considered a 'throwaway' to them because it's not very expensive and it's an effort to move and point. Getting that free--commitment or not--wasn't a surprise, especially because the need to switch came from changes in their service. Since I own my current receivers, I guess they didn't want to "give" me new ones, so they leased me the new ones for free. And since I told them that I'd probably buy an HD TV sooner than later and it seemed silly to switch receivers twice, they're giving me the HD stuff instead of the standard stuff. I guess they waived the service commitment that's generally required for discounted HD upgrades because there wouldn't have been one with the forced switch to equipment similar to what I had. I'm not sure why they waived the monthly HD charge... maybe the rep was in a good mood and her computer allowed her to do it. After that, all that was left was the $6.44 that they waived. A couple of years ago, I "fell" into a good deal of a lesser magnitude. A software upgrade to my current DVR allowed me to use an RF remote rather than the standard infrared. (An RF remote uses a radio signal; you don't have to point it directly at the unit, and you can use it to control units in other rooms.) So I ordered one for about $15. Instead of sending me the remote and the antenna, they sent me two RF remotes. To correct this, they sent me another remote with the antenna (because they're packaged that way). They told me not to bother sending back the first two remotes, so I ended up with three. I gave one away and kept another as a spare. The only remaining issue is the programming on my current DVR that I'd like to keep (as in a couple of "retro" Brewer games). You have to have it hooked up to a subscription for it to work. So for the short term, I'll continue to use the old DVR (probably minus local channels) along with the new DVR. When I get the important programs transferred to another medium, I'll switch to the second new receiver. Switching receivers is simple. You just hook the new one up and make a phone call.
  16. DirecTV is giving me a new dish, a new HD DVR receiver, and a new HD non-DVR receiver without charging me to lease the receivers, without charging me the $10 per month HD fee, and without having me commit to keeping the service for 12 or 24 months. A $6.44 "use tax" was left, and they waived that because they thought it was silly to make me pull my credit card out of my pocket for that amount.

(I used Yuku.) I suppose that's to save texasleaguers.com's bandwidth. To save, right-click on the image and choose "Save Image As..." (or your browser's equivalent). The chart above the images is a direct copy/paste. If you follow TooLive's link, you can modify the chart and create new graphs according to lefty/righty, count, pitch type, and date range.
  18. So...you can get 7 characters? I think the state has allowed seven characters for a while now, with the caveat that you're not allowed to include a space.
  19. Not making excuses, but it seemed like a few of the topics the last few months probably were not appropriate for this forum than and should have been stopped since they were purely political issues, even if they weren't talking about politicians. There really isn't a fine line in the sand as far as what's political and what isn't. If people are dancing around the political line and still playing nice, the mods will likely allow the topic to continue. In this case, there weren't any posts that were problematic (yet). But it did make sense to issue some preemptive direction as the potential for someone dropping a nuclear bomb is certainly present. bork, if you're coming in from Muskego, I'd recommend Loomis Road over Forest Home. Loomis has less traffic, fewer lights, and a higher speed limit. From Loomis, I'd be tempted to try taking 43rd Street to Canal Street and going in that way. If that doesn't work, I'd check out 35th or 27th. Patrick425, getting to Southridge from the northern part of the county probably isn't an issue, but getting home would be. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Unfortunately, north-south alternative routes in the Milwaukee area all tend to suck, each in its own unique way. If you're going east or west, there are lots of good alternatives.
  20. The 2004 fall elections were a moderating nightmare. Brian briefly tried creating a separate political forum, and that didn't make things any better. At that point, political discussion was prohibited here, and Toby created BPS to pick up the slack. Note that BPS isn't affiliated with Brewerfan. Rather, it's considered a recommended destination.
  21. I'm not sure what the question is... When I wrote the lead, I wasn't sure, either. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif All I could tell was that the interesting eye topic was headed off topic, kind of like the Rotation-turned-Counsell thread.
  22. Because this thread had begun to stray way off topic, I've begun a new What should be next for Hart? thread and moved a couple of posts from this topic over there. Let's refrain from allowing either Hart thread from becoming a vent thread. Thanks. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. In an effort to keep the Hart's Eyes from straying off topic, let's use this thread for discussion about Corey's current role on the team and his immediate future. Also, let's refrain from turning this into a vent thread.
  24. Not to derail this thread, but when did this happen? Do you have a link? From Tuesday's Witrado chat: As this "issue" seems to be more Witrado-centric than Braun-centric, the JS Sports Staff thread might be an appropriate place to discuss this.
  25. I wouldn't put any weight on the box score stats. I'd rather know how a pitcher performed relative to the goals the manager, coaches, and the pitcher himself set for a particular game.
