  1. To upload images: Click on the Images link in your navigation bar. Click on the album where you'd like your images. (Create a new album if necessary.) Hit the Upload File button near the top. You'll see buttons where you can browse your hard drive or camera card for your images. You'll be able to upload up to five images in one batch. When you're ready, hit the Upload button at the bottom of the page. Repeat the process if you'd like to upload more than five pictures. To access your images for posting, hit the Insert Image (http://help.yuku.com/help20/images/1/12/Image.gif) button. Browse through your album and click on any images you'd like to post. Separate your images with line breaks as needed (by hitting enter).
  2. We are doing this a@@-backwards! Note that circumvention of the filter violates Fan Forum Etiquette, but also note that "ass-backwards" is fine. I've edited "ass-backwards" back into the message above.
  3. I'm in Milwaukee County right now; we have about three soggy, heavy inches. The big question here is whether the driveways will be plowed or not. Plows were last seen before 8 AM.
  4. If all you need is a place of solitude, you can build an igloo. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  5. There have been periodic access issues all over Yuku. The problem you're describing is characterized by server error pages and has been happening off and on for a couple of weeks. I've been experiencing them since Friday. Also, there've been greater than usual issues with IE (especially when posting Flash), access issues specific to AOL, and busted chats.
  6. The other day, I picked up an inexpensive armoire at Menards. One of the parts was busted, so I'm having a new one sent. The customer service person helping me mentioned that she liked shopping at the new Menards near her home in Ohio. I didn't tell her that when my friend's dad checked out of an outdoor Menards lumber yard, he showed the security guy his yellow slip instead of the pink one and had a gun pulled on him.
  7. It seems like someone every year senses the Brewerfan-ness in me, despite my leaving the BF.net parka at home. Or people just remember what you look like from that picture you posted of yourself about three years ago. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  8. 2010 Russ? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. I have Yuku Supporter, and I haven't logged out to take a look, but we apparently have full-fledged infomercials playing in our profiles.
  10. Can you have this guy caned?
  11. I bet you tried to do it in IE 8. See this topic: Attention Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) users
  12. I use Microsoft Word about twice a month. Coincidentally, about twice a month, it wants to do a 200 MB update.
  13. It can take two minutes or more to get hot water to my dad's kitchen sink. I wonder how much of his MMSD bill could be saved by installing a point-of-use water heater for that spot.
  14. This is what Fan Forum Etiquette has to say: Please give members who post "inside info" the benefit of the doubt. If we continually attack the credibility of those who offer that information, chances are we will stop receiving it. Expressing skepticism about the information in a civil manner is fine; outwardly challenging the member isn't. If you are an "insider" providing information, please don't use the topic as an attention grab. Followup posts should be for the purpose of answering questions and providing additional information. If someone questions your credibility, blow it off. Attempts to defend yourself don't help your cause.
  15. Speaking of songs with little-known lyrics, how about this one? Sorry about the consecutive posts. Yuku mangled my content when I tried to combine the two videos into one message.
  16. It used to be the theme song on WTMJ and the Packer radio network. And the Packer band would play a pepped up version for Packer kickoff returns. They were really good at winding it down with a moment's notice. I never knew that lyrics existed until last night. This version shows a slight variation of the words that Invader3K posted. (I didn't opt for it in the post above because the sound isn't quite as good.) These lyrics say "On, you Blue and Gold, to glory!" rather than "On, you Green and Gold, to glory!" According to Wikipedia, the song was first used in 1931, when the Packers wore blue uniforms. The Packers first wore a green uniform in 1935, but wore mostly blue until Vince Lombardi introduced the current forest green.
  17. I thought of Bang the Drum All Day when I posted about Who Let the Dogs Out. Methinks it's time for something new. Do the Packers use their old fight song anymore?
  18. Who Let the Dogs Out Do they still play that at Lambeau Field? They did as recently as a couple of years ago.
  19. Like, "All you want out of your 5 pitcher is 12-13 wins and to eat innings" or "all you need is a catcher who can call a game and bats at least .250" I got it. This is where I can respond by suggesting that 12-13 wins out of a #5 would require a lot of luck and offer an alternative. Note that you are using stats, though (wins, IP). I don't think you can describe a player without some numbers somewhere. If you aren't looking for that average/replacement level player, then I think it is really dependent on what is surrounding the player in question. I think this is the part that IIR wants to weed out of the equation. If I'm getting this right, I think he's looking for an "expectation" for each position independent of what the other players on the team might be like.
  20. It sounds like you're looking for MLB average at each position. It'd probably pay to see this information using something familiar to the crowd (like OPS) along with some of the more modern stats.
  21. I see freeforums.org lets you create custom BBCodes. I'd love to have that feature here.
  22. There are two ways you can go... a board that you host yourself or a hosted solution. If you host the board yourself, you have to pay for the bandwidth that it uses. Hosted solutions can be free or ad-supported. Brewerfan and LambeauLeap have opted for a hosted solution due to cost, security, and technical support. As far as server costs go, we're pooling our money with other boards. For security, the main part is taken care of by Yuku. Back when LL was on a self-hosted PHP board, Peavey was having to remove about a hundred spambots per day. (That hastened the LL board's migration to Yuku.) When there's breakage, it's generally Yuku's problem. While it can be frustrating to sit back and wait, it saves us from messing around with a lot of the technical details. I'm not going to wholeheartedly endorse Yuku because it does have its share of problems. They're not very good at fixing bugs. The last code push was in February, 2009, and we have serious bugs that a year or more old. Poster child: Convert URLs (automatically making links in messages clickable) has been an available feature since August, 2008, and it's never worked right. Something that might be important to your potential membership is that Yuku isn't very good on handheld devices. I wouldn't discount Yuku, either. You can get it for free if you're willing to display ads within thread pages. (See BPS for an example of a free board.) It has a nice set of (working) features. You can make your board (or individual forums) public or private. Your Brewerfan/LL login will work on a new board. If you're a Yuku Supporter, it'll apply to all Yuku boards. There's a decent amount of design flexilibity (although it's not carte blanche). There are "real" people who can help, both via a private ticket system and via the Support message board. And there are admins and mods at BF/LL who know the controls and can answer questions. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif On the individual level, Yuku's profiles are fairly powerful, the PM system is OK, and you have a small amount of image storage space (30 MB for non-Yuku Supporters and 100 MB for Supporters). The profile area (including PMs and image management) is currently undergoing a complete rewrite. (Editorial comment: I hope that rewrite isn't coming at the expense of attention needed by the boards, but I'm afraid it will be.) One thing you can do with any of the free systems is create a test board. That way, you can learn your way around. To create a Yuku board, hit the navigation button, then hit the "Community" link in the "Create" box at the upper right of your dashboard. You'll be guided through a few short steps. (Note that board owners won't see ads on their own boards.)
  23. I stand corrected. http://images.yuku.com/image/gif/dc33563353a14a575ba94c440bef6fdb3266a35.gif However, in the past, the team has celebrated anniversaries in a manner that would seem to be a year early. It would have been the equivalent of celebrating the 40th anniversary season in 2009 (the team's 40th season). I bet hawing could find some programs or media guides substantiating that.
  24. Anyone else notice how the article says that 2010 is the 40th season for the Brewers? If you do the math 2009 was the 40th season...not sure how you botch that up. Opening Day will represent the Brewers' 39th birthday, but it's their 40th season. The team has celebrated other "anniversary" seasons in the same manner. While it's easy to view this as strange, it's technically correct.
