1. The biggest advantage to going with a third party for the message board is security. The old LambeauLeap board was hit by spambots constantly. You can ask Peavey about it; he was the one who got to clean up the messes. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Brian has mentioned his desire to create his own board structure. He'd have to address both security and functionality; it'd be a big undertaking. One thing Yuku does offer is a pretty good set of features. A major bummer, however, is that Yuku isn't very good at fixing bugs, especially since the company was purchased by KickApps a little more than a year ago. Migrating isn't necessarily an easy talk. For instance, Yuku puts little things in its code here and there to discourage exporting. However, if the Brewerfan/LambeauLeap boards were to ever move off of Yuku, it'd be very inexpensive to maintain the current boards in archive form.
2. The May dates are now included. Ticket Link For anyone who's ordered via this offer, what's the service charge?
3. It's been four years since the Brewers acquired him from Oakland (December 16, 2004).
4. Copied to IGT forum... 2009-04-15 Non-Brewers in-game thread: Ian Kinsler is 6 for 6 Tonight AND He's Hit For The Cycle! Feel free to continue discussion over there.
5. Here's the AP article: Former broadcaster Harmon dies I remember seeing Merle at the 2002 All Star Fan Fest in Milwaukee. I think he was doing audio for MLB.com. The AP article mentions that Harmon broadcast Twins games from 1967-69. I believe he was under contract to continue broadcasting Twins games in 1970 but was released at the last minute to come back to Milwaukee. The WTMJ article mentions that Harmon left the Brewers to work for NBC. I believe he wanted to continue with the Brewers, but the Brewers wouldn't let him take the time off to do the Olympics. They became more flexible when Bob Uecker needed time off to work on Mr. Belvedere.
6. It's actually going to LambeauLeap's main page. The old forums are long gone.
7. If you didn't get the joke, might be time to lighten up a little. I didn't get the joke. However, had a paragraph like this been included in the lead, methinks we all would have gotten the joke: Carry on.
8. Somebody tried to start a vent thread earlier, but apparently the staff wants to avoid outright negativity. The idea is to avoid "impulsive posts expressing knee-jerk frustration in the form of vents, rants and complaints." Members can certainly address the negative without crossing the line into blatant obnoxiousness. However, mockery and condescension are still allowed and encouraged, as evidenced by this thread. There hasn't been much of a moderator presence this week. I'll take a look.
9. Handheld capability is probably the top request from members of this site. Brian should be able to do a lot to address this on the main site. For the boards, we're at Yuku's mercy. Yuku staff has expressed a desire to make the boards work better on handheld devices, however, they have yet to put their money where their collective mouths are.
10. I'm glad to see that DirecTV has gotten with the program and made it possible for those outside of Milwaukee to see both games. That's how it should be. As an option for some, WMLW is on Milwaukee channel 58-2. It should provide a much stronger signal than analog channel 41. I'd guess that if one can receive the "regular" channel 58, s/he should be able to receive 58-2.

12. They should be gone now.

14. I was half way through the thread when I realized I could have copied the previous game thread and just modified the urls instead of doing it all by hand I haven't started one of these threads, but I think I'd use the template and then use the post editor tools to add the 14 (or so) URLs and the two graphics. I find that if I'm working directly within the HTML, I use up a lot of time because it appears in one large lump instead of being organized into separate lines. I'd also have the directions up in a separate window (rather than a separate tab). My monitor has plenty of room for two side-by side windows. That would speed up copying and pasting.
15. I think this is all correct. Took like an hour to setup. That information is useful to us. In last night's chat, razzzorsharp said it took him about 15 minutes. Maybe there are some clues that might be helpful to others. If so, we should share them in the discussion thread. I think practice might be the best way to learn to speed up the process. If you have an issue with details, it's no problem for a mod to help out. Don't feel offended if you see an "Edited by 'some mod'" at the bottom of your lead. Yesterday, I merged another thread into the IGT and gave it the wrong thread's title. I had to restore the right one. Adam, I'll check right now to see if you've seen wOOgiE's note about the media coverage graphic. If you haven't gotten to it, I'll take care of it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif EDIT: I see you've fixed it.
16. Because this is within the scope of the in-game thread, I've moved the above posts over there. Here's where the discussion starts.
17. Thanks, wOOgiE. I inserted the graphic into the thread. Good thinking on the "opener" search tag, razzzor. I've also applied it to the opener in San Francisco. I've been using the "regularseason" tag in both Brewer and non-Brewer IGTs. I haven't updated the Usability Guide to reflect that. We have a lot of flexibility when it comes to creating new search tags--as long as we restrict player tags to Brewer starting pitchers. If we added Brewer position players or opposing players, we'd be over the 100 tag per forum limit in a hurry. A new tag that won't spawn a slew of other similar tags is great, though.
18. I stuck in pictures of today's starting pitchers. If you want to change to something else, I won't be offended. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I figured out the issue with the Media Coverage graphic. You had this URL: http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g83/woogie22/2009seasonbanners/mediacoveragefsw705.jpg We needed this one: http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g83/woogie22/2009seasonbanners/mediacoveragefsw305.jpg It looks like wOOgiE's media coverage instructions give examples rather than covering all possible situations.
19. American League Texas vs. Detriot 12:05 PM CDT Toronto vs. Cleveland 3:05 PM CDT N.Y. Yankees vs. Kansas City 3:10 PM CDT Tampa Bay vs. Baltimore 6:05 PM CDT Minnesota vs. Chicago White Sox 7:11 PM CDT Boston vs. L.A. Angels 9:05 PM CDT Seattle vs. Oakland 9:05 PM CDT National League Philadelphia vs. Colorado 3:10 PM CDT Pittsburgh vs. Cincinnati 6:10 PM CDT N.Y. MCDTs vs. Florida 6:10 PM CDT Washington vs. Atlanta 6:35 PM CDT Houston vs. St. Louis 7:15 PM CDT L.A. Dodgers vs. Arizona 8:40 PM CDT San Francisco vs. San Diego 9:05 PM CDT
20. Can you find alternate pictures of the pitchers and just go with those this time around? Otherwise, you could use text instead. We should probably figure out a place to post the Photoshop template, so the Photoshop-inclined could produce a wOOgie picture when necessary.
21. Looks great, razzzorsharp. The starting pitcher graphic URL changed slightly for this game only. It's available in this post. The URL contains the teams' W-L records. Because wOOgie needed to prepare the graphic early, there was one ready for either a Brewer win or loss yesterday. I think that thread may be the best place to post stuff like URL changes, but if anyone has any ideas that are better, please make the suggestions. You'll want to change the date in the lead. That's sooooooo easy to forget; I've done that several times. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
22. For whoever might start the in-game thread for the home opener against the Cubs, there's been an URL change for tomorrow night's starting pitcher. Use this one instead of the URL provided in the Usability Guide. http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g83/woogie22/2009season/startingpitchers410l.jpg
23. Tavern of the game: Pitt (sp?) Stop in Pittsville.
24. We had a question come up about hidden posts last night. They were generally of the "one word" or "post just to post" variety. On Tuesday, there were quite a few "play by play" posts. Those didn't seem to be an issue last night. In last night's thread, one thing we talked about briefly was how a bit context helps. There are people who'd like to read the thread a couple of hours later or the next morning. We can help them out with that. As an example, "That was a SICK curve by YoGa" doesn't mean much by itself. You're going to be wondering, "Which one?" By itself, it's a comment that's better suited for the chat room. This statement does make sense on its own: "Gallardo looked much, much better in the 3rd inning. Curveball is starting to look nasty." However, if "That was a SICK curve by YoGa" were posted as a response to the more detailed message, there'd have been context: I guess the moral of all this is that when bring up something for the first time, give us a clue what you're talking about. If you're responding to something recently posted, adequate context is likely to exist.
