  1. According to last night's in-game thread, the game showed up on DirecTV between 10:30 and 10:54 PM CDT last night. There are times when FSW/DISH/DirecTV stupidity coincides: the game will pop up at the same time on both DISH and DirecTV. Did this happen last night?
  2. I'm displeased with the digital converter box I got from Best Buy. It's necessary to stand up to use the remote control.
  3. I can't be sure, but I think 250 GB is a lot. Are you out of DSL range?
  4. That's how I did it for the World Baseball Classic threads. And that's how wOOgiE22 does it for his in-game threads. I think that's probably the easiest way.
  5. Is your garage GFCI (aka GFI) protected? These are the outlets with the two buttons that you're supposed to test now and then. Maybe you popped one of those. To check, locate the outlets and push the button to reset. Note that one GFI outlet may "control" several other outlets, and they're not always in the same room. Also, it's possible that a GFI could be located directly on the circuit breaker panel.
  6. If I used it more often, I would need to carry my register with me anyhow so that wouldn't change. Exactly. I refuse to get a check card. I absolutely know it would be counterproductive to keeping my checkbook balanced. It's not like I write a lot of checks, though. I wrote one last month, and I wrote one in early December. Both went in the mail, and in each case, a check in the mail was the only option for paying. In person, I'll write a check at the bank for cash... if I haven't kept enough cash since my last deposit. If I need cash when the bank is closed, the tavern down the road from my house will take care of that. That leaves the general store near my house. I used to write checks over there pretty often, but they started taking credit/debit cards about a year ago. To write a check there now, I'd have to be both short cash and making a purchase below the $15 minimum to use a card. I can't recall the last time that happened.
  7. Both times, as soon as the second cashier came up, the very last person in line immediately rushed over to the other line so they could check out first. Most of the time, it seems that people are so dazed that I just walk over to the second register and turn out to be first no matter where I was in the first line. When people are on the ball, I'll definitely defer to those ahead of me. I've had cashiers look directly at me and say, "I can help you in aisle 6." That's when I was the last person in line. I don't think it is rude at all. I think it often turns out that way. I don't think you're being rude.
  8. Mexican + executioner = Mexican executioner Mexican executioner ? Mexecutioner.
  9. To start an in-game thread using a wOOgiE22 template... Select and copy the contents of the template. Paste it into a new thread. Follow directions in the thread lead for creating the in-game thread title. Insert the starting pitchers and media coverage graphics images. Directions for getting their URLs are in the first two replies below. Their locations are marked near the top of the template. Links that are already active (brick red colored) are set and ready to go. They don't change from day to day. Links that need updating display as non-clickable text. Directions for linking those are provided three replies below. If you lose font formatting, you can restore it by choosing Tahoma, size 2, bold. If there's no in-game thread posted and it's time to have one, feel free to start a thread another way if the wOOgiE method is beyond what's practical for you do do. Do follow the title instructions in the lead, though. If someone feels inclined to create a wOOgiE lead after an alternate thread exists, s/he can create a new topic and the threads can be merged. If you're going to do this, you might want to place a note in the existing thread so member efforts aren't duplicated. If you'd like to include search tags, directions are provided in the lead. If you don't want to do this, a mod can add them eventually. If you have questions, a sticky in this forum is open for discussion.
  10. All I know is that if Macha leaves off McGehee he is going to have a lot of explaining to do Actually, it'd be Melvin doing the explaining. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I don't know what kind of deal Lamb has though so money might get in the way. Everything except minimum wage is being paid by the Twins, so money shouldn't be an issue.
  11. Korea vs. Japan (Los Angeles) -- 8:00 PM CDT -- ESPN, ESPN Deportes, MLB.TV (Gameday) At the time of this posting, nothing appears on the Gameday link. It'll display information around game time. MLB.com needs to get its act together. Today's game disappeared from the schedule page until an hour or so ago.
  12. United States vs. Japan (Los Angeles) -- 7:00 PM CDT -- ESPN, ESPN Deportes, MLB.TV (Gameday) At the time of this posting, nothing appears on the Gameday link. It'll display information around game time.
  13. According to Brewerfan's roster page, Riske has an option remaining. However, he has about 8 years of service time. To go to AAA, he'd have to pass through waivers... plus, I believe he'd have the right to refuse being optioned.
  14. It's mentioned somewhere in other threads around here that CBS and FOX use 720p. MLB Network is also 720p; they say is was chosen after careful consideration because they felt it would work better with baseball.
  15. What would really bite is if that kid somehow (however improbably) goes on to actual success in the world - like, I don't know, being a maverick entrepreneur for whom such small minutiae as "being on time" fail to matter. What's more likely is that davego will be having the same discussion with this kid's kid in about 15 years.
  16. This wasn't up in time for the game, but here's the Gameday link in case anyone wants to take a look: Japan 6, Korea 2 (San Diego)
  17. Korea vs. Venezuela (Los Angeles) -- 8:00 PM CDT -- ESPN, ESPN Deportes, MLB.TV (Gameday) At the time of this posting, nothing appears on the Gameday link. It'll display information around game time.
  18. What career oddity do Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, and Hank Aaron have in common? To see the answer, hit the Quote button in this message. When the post editor comes up, hit HTML View button, (to the right of Spellcheck). The answer will be in the code. They all started and ended their careers in the same cities, but with different teams.
  19. MLB Network just displayed a graphic that was apparently supposed to show how the absence of Joe Mauer affected the Twins' record. With Mauer: 74-64 Without Mauer: 13-11 Of course, it's necessary to pretend that the samples are big enough to matter. Even if they were, 75-64 is a .540 win percentage. 13-11 is a .542 win percentage.
  20. Did he even call him out? Yeah, really. I don't see any calling out here. I see an observation and an indication of concern. Plus, the followup blog entry indicates that Macha is following up with a positive "plan of attack," something the first blog entry indicated he wanted to do.
  21. Schedule: United States vs. Venezuela (Miami) -- 6:00 PM CDT -- MLBN, ESPN Deportes, MLB.TV (Gameday) Japan vs. Cuba (San Diego) -- 10:00 PM CDT -- ESPN2, ESPN Deportes, MLB.TV (Gameday) At the time of this posting, nothing appears on the Gameday links. They should display information eventually. Otherwise, Gameday links should appear on this page at or around game time: 2009 Tournament Schedule By Venue To get to a Gameday page from the schedule link above, look for an icon like this: http://mlb.mlb.com/images/icons/gameday.gif.
  22. When I renewed, the DMV punched a hole in my old license and told me I could keep it as a "spare." They said it would "work" in a pinch. The difference in your case was probably that you got a duplicate instead of renewing. I suppose they feel that a lot of duplicates could get out of hand.
  23. I do like future-use expandability, and with Vista being such a pig, 8GB doesn't seem out of line. While Windows 7 is likely to tame things a bit, if you're looking at four years, you'll probably also be wanting to run whatever Micro$oft puts out after 7. Being able to expand to 16GB doesn't seem like a superfluous feature to me. I think the bigger thing to think about is how well this computer is going to withstand wear and tear. Using a "laptop" on your lap a lot will likely shorten its life. We've also seen a lot of posts about power connector breakage. (I have a Mac; I'm unlikely to run into that. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif) One thing I'd definitely recommend: if you're spending close to $2,000, extend the warranty as far into the future as possible.
  24. Schedule: Puerto Rico vs. United States (Miami) -- 6:00 PM CDT -- MLBN, ESPN Deportes, MLB.TV (Gameday) Japan vs. Korea (San Diego) -- 10:00 PM CDT -- MLBN, ESPN Deportes, MLB.TV (Gameday) At the time of this posting, nothing appears on the Gameday links. They should display information eventually. Otherwise, Gameday links should appear on this page at or around game time: 2009 Tournament Schedule By Venue To get to a Gameday page from the schedule link above, look for an icon like this: http://mlb.mlb.com/images/icons/gameday.gif.
