  1. Definitely feel free to start a thread on weird contract clauses. (Watch... we'll get three and we'll have to merge. That's OK. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif) A thread on Milwaukee's attractiveness as a destination for players would certainly be appropriate, too. I would have split that discussion out of this thread had the post that prompted that discussion been of decent quality.
  2. Brewers Broadcast History Except for spelling Del Crandall's name wrong, calling Eddie Doucette "Ed" when he was better known as "Eddie," and not being set up to account for the fact that the TV booth was dual play by play until Pete Vuckovich, the list seems to be pretty darn accurate.
  3. Call Time Warner back and quote MLB Network's web site. If that doesn't get you anywhere, ask to talk to a supervisor. For what it's worth, my dad's MLB Network showed the same Time Warner error message yesterday morning. By evening, the channel was working properly.
  4. Child abduction alerts on Time Warner Cable: too often, too long, too loud, and too obtrusive.
  5. I can tell you that most of what is being said here is not accurate so take it with a grain of salt. What's right and what's wrong?
  6. I would now need to pay an additional $4.95 for Time Warner's sports package. It sounds like a mistake. Quoth MLB Network:
  7. I'd be pleased if they showed reruns of the 1959 Home Run Derby series filmed at Wrigley Field in Los Angeles. ESPN Classic used to show that program once in a while.
  8. In addition to being his guitar teacher, Les Paul is Steve Miller's godfather. ----- Continued here: viewtopic.php?f=67&t=30503
  9. When you hit F8, tap it repeatedly. There's a window of opportunity to bring up the menu that offers Safe Mode; you don't want to miss it. Regarding online virus checkers, be very careful to make sure they're reputable. Of course, Norton's would be fine.
  10. I've only seen the the last inning of the perfect game at this point, but in the studio portion, Don Larson said that when he accomplished the feat, he didn't even know what a perfect game was. MLB Tonight appears to be something to look forward to. It will start at 6 PM (I assume ET) and run live until the last out of the last game. Patrick425, we're now getting a clinic on stealing home. Jackie Robinson stealing off of Whitey Ford is the example.
  11. This article is now available on the main part of the site.
  12. Hover-happy web pages. having to pay attention to where the cursor isn't doesn't qualify as user friendly.
  13. The drinking age in Canada varies by province; it's either 18 or 19. The drinking age in Ontario is 19, but I can't tell you how picky they might be with foreign IDs. See Smart Serve Ontario.
  14. Happy Birthday! By the way, I think you can gamble if you go to a casino that doesn't serve alcohol. Don't you wish you had that little piece of information two years ago? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. I would just put a person's names in quotes in google and see what came up. If you know anything about events that would have drawn extra attention to a person, you might be able to google those events or people involved with those events. In an effort to learn a bit about a cousin who was murdered, I had more luck googling the name of the murderer and the name of the sheriff who was killed investigating the murder than I did by googling the cousin. In the process, I ran across newspaperarchive.com. It's a paid site. Other than three articles related to the aforementioned murder (two of them unnamed), I found it very difficult to determine what I might gain by subscribing. Does anyone have any experience with this site? I did a few test searches on www.familysearch.org. I found several of the people that I attempted to look up. It bothered me that it displays social security numbers, though. Granted, this information is on death certificates, but displaying them on this site makes them too dang available. My mom's been gone just over a year, and the site lists her number. The time frame is still well within the window of opportunity for some pretty good scams against survivors to be initiated.
  16. I don't know if you necessarily need a "digital" antenna. I think it just has to be UHF. My TV techie says that the antenna he installed on my house in the early 1990s should be just fine. As far as new sets, all of them sold within the past three or four years are equipped to receive digital signals. They don't have to be fancy. "Fancy" only applies to sets that receive HD, and even those aren't necessarily fancy anymore.
  17. I set up Foxmarks a couple of days ago; it's absolutely great. I have my Firefox bookmarks synced between three installations on three computers. I can't be sure, but it looks like you can do some creative syncing. For example, maybe you'd like to include a copy of your work bookmarks on your home machine, but not include your home bookmarks on your work machine. There's also some good news worth relaying. Versions of Foxmarks for Safari (OS X 10.5) and Internet Explorer (versions 6, 7, & 8-beta2) are in the beta stage. When I created my account, there was a waiting list to join the Safari beta testing group. Since I don't have IE, I didn't check that out.
  18. It's going to be on channel 122 on Time Warner in Milwaukee. How does that qualify as extended basic if you need to rent a box to receive it?
  19. a woman was killed in a wreck on roads we were driving this morning by DeSoto I had to do a reread. At first, I thought you said the woman was killed while driving in a DeSoto.
  20. Any company that carries MLB Network will offer it as part of the extended basic package. Placing it in any package that costs money beyond extended basic violates conditions set by MLB Network for the privilege of carrying the channel.
  21. Mail them.
  22. You're very likely do be dealing with the other party's insurance company, and you may not need your agent at all. I've been in two of these 0% at fault things. The first time, I called my insurance company, and they told me I'd be expediting things by dealing directly with the other driver's company. Personally, I think they were just lazy, but what the heck. The second time, knowing the drill, I didn't contact my agent or company at all (different agent and company this time). The adjuster for the other driver's company showed up with a check the day my car was repaired. Simple as that. The complicating factor in your case, of course, is the need for medical follow-up. I'd start with the other guy's insurance, then ask for advice from your own insurance people you're not getting what you need.
  23. Could you provide a link to this provocative-sounding article? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I poked around brewers.com and did a Google News search and couldn't find it.
