  1. The plans call for the studio to be in New Jersey for now, with an eventual move to a new building in Harlem.
  2. Nope. Unless you have something less than whatever Charter calls extended basic, you won't have to pay any extra. That was part of the deal that MLB insisted on.
  3. Please keep this discussion focused within the scope defined in mancl's lead: a managerial job description. Discussion of specific candidates can go in the Who's the manager in 2009? thread.
  4. Digging through the links in the Wikipedia bibliography confirms that the Saturday night games are non-exclusive. Fitting the pieces of the MLB Network
  5. The history behind this network is that to be able to offer Extra Innings, cable and satellite companies had to commit to offering the MLB Network at the extended basic level. There was a deadline for committing which was extended at least once or twice. I wouldn't be surprised if it were still possible for stragglers to buy their way in.
  6. DSL has finally become available at my rural abode.
  7. Jake Peavy officaly got put on the block today, he said he would go to a NL team. How does one "officially' get put on the block?
  8. Let's let this topic focus on the news in the blog entry and keep discussion of Sveum alternatives in this thread. The first and biggest offseason question: Who's the manager in 2009? (merged with Who replaces Ned Yost/Dale Sveum?) Thanks.
  9. I think it was Toby who posted a while back that the defensive metrics on Hardy were mixed. And I think the opinions observers have developed are mixed. There definitely isn't a consensus, and I don't think it's possible to be completely right or wrong.
  10. I believe you can buy that service a day at a time on the days you want to play with it.
  11. Geez, Ennder, you didn't need to quote FTJ's whole message two posts above.
  12. This is a a hybrid of the terse denial message and the kinder reapply message. As opposed to the invitation to reapply above, this one contains a line saying that the application was denied, puts "comprehensive and reflective" in italics, and says "reconsider your membership" rather than "consider your membership." Like the reapplication message one post above, the member name and the content of the application message would need to be inserted into the quote box. Your application to the Brewerfan.net Fan Forum has been denied. As stated on the membership application page, we're looking for applicants to provide a comprehensive and reflective message. We strive for intelligent, quality posting on this site and feel that the application message is where prospective members prove that they can contribute in this way. With more information from you, however, we'd be glad to reconsider membership. Thanks for your interest.
  13. This one isn't worded as a rejection. Because of that, it would make sense to respond to the application PM rather than hitting the "deny" button. Responding to the PM lets admins choose the subject line of their choice rather than being stuck with the default "application denied" message. When this message is used, the member name and the content of the application message would need to be inserted into the quote box. The quoted material automatically inserted when replying to the PM can be deleted. If removing the member from the pending list is deemed desirable, s/he can be deleted via the member's administrative page. Could you please reread the membership application and provide a more comprehensive and inclusive message via that page? We strive for intelligent, quality posting on this site and feel that the application message is where prospective members prove that they can contribute in this way. With more information from you, we'd be glad to consider membership. Thanks for your interest. EDIT 2012-02-22 Reworded for e-mail:
  14. These are the the messages which appear when hitting the "approve" or "deny" buttons. The text of the message may be edited. The subject line may not be edited. These are here for reference. There's no need to copy and paste them. Approval: Denial: (edit: new default approval message --1992)
  15. Templates for MBA responses. Copy and paste into PM interface. Reply #1: Default approval and denial messages (no need to paste these) Reply #2: Invitation to reapply Reply #3: Hybrid of invitation to reapply and terse default denial Reply #x: Username switch (not done) Reply #x: Username switch due to login issues with previous name (not done)
  16. And to say he is below average in a RF is ridiculous. Please avoid statements like this. They attack the messenger rather than addressing the message.
  17. Some parks used a city block with home plate in the middle of the block (ala Borchert Field). In contrast, Wrigley Field has it's home plate at the corner of the block, and may actually occupy two city blocks. I believe the Polo Grounds had home plate in the middle of the block, leading to short distances down the lines with a very deep center field.
  18. The tax money is something that's built into the agreement between the Brewers and the Stadium District as part of a plan to keep Miller Park from falling behind the times. If I remember correctly, the Brewers would have had the right to use District money toward a new scoreboard in 2008, but they chose to push the project back.
  19. Please keep the board quote guidelines in mind when posting. I shortened the quoted material in one post above. In another, because the post stood quite well on its own, I removed the long quote entirely.
  20. The Dead Ball Era was actually pre-Babe Ruth.
  21. Added to Designated Threads List. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Also note that the Who's the manager in 2009? thread has been designated for discussion of Dale's 2009 managerial performance.
  22. Added to Designated Threads List. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Also note that the How much credit does Dale Sveum deserve? thread has been designated for discussion of Dale's 2009 managerial performance.
  23. Added to Designated Threads List. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  24. Hey, everyone, let's play nice. A handful of posts have teetered on the condescension line, and a couple of them have crossed it.
  25. From the standpoint of watching on television, it looked that the field was pretty much dominated by Phillies with interviews, etc. I think the players coming out would have been a nice gesture, but maybe it wasn't practical.
