  1. Why didn't they have a pie for Bob Brainerd?
  2. Since Bill Schroeder has made the same mistake twice, it may as well come up twice in the game threads. An inning or so ago, he said the AL doesn't steal many bases. Guess what, Bill? 2005 AL: 584 (41.7 per team) 2005 NL: 574 (35.9 per team) 2004 AL: 1253 (89.5 per team) 2004 NL: 1336 (83.5 per team)
  3. Bob Brainerd could sound stupid even if he was reading the Declaration of Independence.
  4. According to lineups from two sources, no.

  6. Convenience issues (for Brian) aside, of course, it would seem that all three of these suggestions should be able to be implemented within the current structure of this site. As far as testing, I don't have any real preference. I'd say that whatever gets the best feedback back to the user without invading the main forums would be fine. I have no problem with tests on the Issues forum, although I'd have no problem with a separate forum for that, either. Myself? I usually manage to test adequately using the Preview function, but certainly there are situations where feedback is beneficial. Items 2 and 3 sound like good ideas that might be better implemented outside the message board structure. I remember Brian removing all the side links recently, for instance, to address bandwidth.
  7. That could be a problem as many people don't even realize when a single image is too large. I see two things that could make this work, though:Making sure whatever method is used is standards-compliant. Making this type of stuff available so it can easily be downloaded. I'm not going to wait for something large to load while trying to read a message board thread, but if the content looks interesting, I might be tempted to download a large file at a convenient time for later viewing.
  8. I know how to mark an individual forum or all forums as having been read, but how do I mark an individual thread? That's a good point. Tweaking the quote feature so it's handier to use could accomplish much the same thing. One current problem is that it doesn't quote anything that's spread over more than one paragraph. (See what I just quoted here; that required an extra step.) Good idea. I'd vote for that.
  9. Bill says Patterson has 10 HR but only 22 RBIs...like it's Corey's fault.
  10. I like the idea, but this suggestion sounds like something better suited to a blogging feature than a message board. Even with a somewhat exclusive roundtable blog, others can still be brought in by being given the ability to post comments. If comments are accessed by following a link, those not wanting to read them wouldn't have to.
  11. It really shouldn't matter which font you use to draft your tables, as long as it's monospaced. You should be able to line things up and paste your stuff between the tags and be set. If other people's tables are showing up properly, there shouldn't be any problem within your browser settings. Have you tried switching between ezCodes and HTML (via the radio buttons on top of the reply boxes)? I've had better luck using ezCodes' tags than HTML's tags. That could just be me, though. ;-) When I really want to do a decent job, I'll use the HTML tags, but that's more work. Likewise, I think using HTML tables would be a ton more work in a situation like a message board post. I'd keep it simple to start with.
  12. This is obviously a hack, and I don't even know if the code is valid, but tables will post here. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  13. Via your browser, you could be seeing monospaced text through any one of a number of fonts. Brian's style sheet designates Lucinda Console. That isn't on my system, so I'm figuring that my browser falls back on Courier, which is its default. However, when I pasted your text into Appleworks, it showed up in Lucinda Grande. I honestly prefer working with Monaco when I'm trying to line stuff up for on-screen presentation. It's a little ugly, but I find it easiest to read for the draft process. Anyway, here's a screen shot showing the invisible characters within the text you had trouble with: http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a244/casey1992/boardpics/bfnet/mono.jpg The dots are spaces. The markers at the end of each line are carriage returns. Here's an example of what a tab character might look like, depending on your program. It's the arrow: http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a244/casey1992/boardpics/bfnet/mono2.jpg Edit: Graphics moved to different server
  14. Rather than being original, I'll start with features from other forums that I like: 1. Being able to reply to a specific person or to 'all' (mlb.com forums do that). After people get used to using that feature, it's generally clear who's getting yelled at. 2. Being able to click a link to watch a given topic via e-mail (phpBB forums do that). Another thing I'd like is a variation of something ezBoard currently offers: I think it'd be cool to be able to mark an individual thread as 'read' in addition to being able to do this for an entire forum or forums. I also found it handy when for a time, visited links appeared in a different color. Is there a reason why that stopped?
  15. Daron just said TOMAH Ohka again. Has anyone heard Jim Powell or Bob Uecker pronounce that name?
  16. I almost always use Chris' monospaced font trick. It's a great way to get an idea how things will finally look. Additionally, you have the opportunity to save as you go along; that can be invaluable toward keeping your sanity. Actually, I probably use a text editor or word processor to draft about 80% of my posts because of saving and spell-checking capabilities. Occasionally, when I think a table layout is really hairy, I'll use a word processor that gives me the opportunity to show all the invisible characters (tabs, spaces, line feed/carriage returns, etc.). It makes things easy to spot. Sometimes a global 'find and replace' speeds things your editing, too. Invisible characters can generally be shown by going to a program's preferences (options). Varying terminology is used, such as 'invisibles' or 'non-printing characters'.
  17. Note to Bob Brainerd: It's TOMO, not TOMAH!
  18. I wish we could say that about Bill.
  19. After last night, I feel like starting to nitpick everything Bill Schroeder says. Bill Hall is 25, not 23. That separates him quite a bit from Hardy, Weeks, and Fielder.
  20. As I said earlier in this thread, I'm absolutely done trying to look for any positives out of Schroeder. I wonder what Bill would have done had Prince told him, "I can't stand the guy. I haven't spoken to him in over a year." Sorry, I'm still seething over that. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  21. For those feeling compelled to comment on Schroeder's pregame interview, here's the CarSoup question of the game page. E-mailing brewcrewtv@aol.com is another option.
