  1. A huge chunk of the outfield is covered with new sod because of a concert earlier this week. The pieces are 40 feet long by about 4 feet wide, and each weighs about 1700 pounds. That's not something you want to try at home.
  2. I think it's probably this one, published on Pearl Harbor Day in 2013: Dysfunction at the top: Eric Wedge, others point to trouble in Mariners’ front office

  4. Newer phones support WiFi calling, which should get around the signal issue. The problem is that the carriers have been slow to roll it out. I'd miss too many calls if I didn't have a landline. My cell is very likely to be lying around anywhere in the house. And I prefer empty pockets when I'm at home.
  5. Carlos just doesn't play by the rules of the establishment and therefore he's called out on it every once and a while. Actually, I think he does… mostly. There've been notable exceptions where he should have reigned himself in a bit, though. Nothing's been enough to turn him into a jerk.

  7. As the guys on TV said, you don't see a pitcher's velocity drop by 5mph for no reason.
  8. This a strange game. Things aren't right with Peralta, but there should still be two outs in the second rather than none.

  10. I think you can apply the term "home run king" to whomever you choose, but if you want to refer to the "home run title," that has to belong to Bonds.
  11. I noticed Bob's voice today, but I don't think it stopped him from "being himself." Still, like crossface21, after hearing him, I'm surprised he made the trip. He must feel fine otherwise.
  12. The bigger the cycle, the better. I really dislike it when the driver looks bigger than the bike. And yeah, just about a week ago, I ran into a rider on a crotch rocket that was hard to deal with.
  13. MLB Gameday didn't alert us to the fact that the Packers were on WTMJ and the Brewers were on the station currently known as WKTI (94.5 FM).
  14. This is apparently the free game of the day on MLB.TV. That's not likely to help anyone in the Brewers' market, but it should make the game available to Brewers fans who live elsewhere.
  15. Here's an article from the [cite][abbr=Los Angeles]LA[/abbr] Times[/cite]: David Denson, pro baseball's first openly gay player, has help on his journey I think this sums up why David made his announcement.

  17. That must have been the Peterson catch in center that he turned into a double play when Werth tried to advance to third. That got Jungmann out of a potential mess.
  18. Obviously his no-hitter was an aberration… Every no-hitter is an aberration.

  20. Too soon to tell; he didn't have a busy night. He caught a fly ball and a line drive in center, and there were no base hits to center. Nothing was hit toward him after he moved to left field.
  21. Domingo has played very little in center (13 games, 25 chances), but you don't want to put Braun there and you certainly don't want Davis there. These are the three guys that should be playing though, so I'd guess that CF defaults to Santana. My gut says to trade Davis for prospects this winter and worry about a CF solution at that point.

  23. With the humongous size of some of the phones out there, I could see belt clips coming back… either that or other ways to carry the phone outside of pockets. A reason for unsubsidized phones is to make it easier for people who want to upgrade frequently. Since these upgrade deals generally involve trading in the phone, a case makes sense.
  24. I think the minor bumps and drops that Logan mentions are probably the main issues that most people need to address. What MrTPlush says about cases with plastic covers makes sense to me. If more protection than what the screen protector offers is needed, I think I'd consider something with a solid cover that folds out of the way for use. Some people are happy to simply protect the sides of the phone. That provides a degree of bump/drop protection. It's also enough to protect the chamfered portion of the edge, which without protection, could start to show wear and tear even with normal usage.
  25. I've been at a couple of games this year where the roof was partially closed. At a couple of other day games, it was left open. I think the difference might be that it's closed for full sun but left open if it's overcast.
