  1. With the righty Morton on the mound today and the fact the crew just isn't hitting right now, it's time to shake up the lineup...sticking with the L-R theme CC seemingly likes to use, I'd do something like this: 1. Wong-2B 2. Cain-CF 3. Escobar-3B 4. Adames-SS 5. Tellez-1B 6. Garcia-RF 7. Yelich-LF 8. Narvaez-C 9. Lauer-P I might even consider starting Jace in RF today over Avi.
  2. Tomorrow is by far the most confident I’ve been going into any game this series. I think the offense finally wakes up against Ynoa who they had success against early in the season, and Lauer keeps them mostly off balance and allows 2 runs or less over 6+ innings. The Braves were much better against RHPs this year than LHPs. I’m going to predict 5-2 Brewers tomorrow. That's all well and good, but I don't think Ynoa has been officially announced has he?? in fact there is chatter it may be Morton on short rest.
  3. But can't this also be spun the other way and use it as a reason to NOT Pinch hit? Meaning the offense is so inept, that what would all of a sudden change in that situation that would lead CC to believe all of a sudden they are going to get a big hit there when they haven't all series?? Not really. There was already guys on 2nd and 3rd with one out. So they're at a massive advantage to help them overcome their ineptitude. Plus, it doesn't change the main point that due to how bad they've been they're very only likely going to get one or two chances to score so you have to do all you can to get something out of them. I mean the whole point is...so what if he wouldn't get a bunt down and ultimately say strikes out?? At that point you need a two out hit from Wong, which...is EXACTLY the same scenario they had themselves in even after using a PH. There offense has been so inept, to be honest, there was no reason to think any PH he used was going to do something productive there..I would have rather kept Freddy in, took my chances that not only would he shut them down for 7 innings or so, AND that someone would run into one later on. if it doesn't end up working, so be it. At least I went down with my best in that scenario. Even though it's not going to happen, it's the same reason I'm a proponent of going with Burnes tomorrow. If he gets lit up(highly unlikely) and you lose, well you went down with your best and you can't regret it. You save Burnes for game 5...but what happens if there isn't a game 5?? Then you saved him for what reason?? Next season? If you aren't going to use your ace(even on short rest) in an elimination game, then when are you going to use him?? I mean what if in some bizarre world, the Brewers came out and score 4-5 in the 1st inning tomorrow? If you were going to go with Burnes, nothing saying at that point, you can't essentially "pull him back" and not even trot him out there. Just at least be open to it, is all I'm saying.
  4. If Counsell did what you are suggesting he should of been fired on the spot. Bunting with your pitcher has to be the dumbest idea I have heard in a long time. The right move was to put in a pinch hitter there. I think Counsell just used the wrong pinch hitter. Should have been Jace or Escobar in that situation and not Vogelbach. With the way the offense has been going you have to cash in with one out and you have to put in a pinch hitter. You don't know when your next opportunity is going to come up and you have to take advantage there in the playoffs. If this were the regular season sure send up the pitcher and hope for a walk or a wild pitch or something but not in the playoffs. You're flat out wrong, but you're also entitled to your opinion. Ask yourself this...same exact situation, are the Dodgers PH in the 5th inning for Scherzer or Urias?? Are the Cardinals PH for Wainright?? The Mets PH for DeGrom?? If you answer yes, you'll be flat out wrong again, but again entitled to your opinion. Not really accurate comparisons because LA and STL have functioning solid offenses. We don't, so it's a different level of necessity to get a run or two if given the chance. Normal situation I'm sure CC doesn't do this in the 4th inning, the ineptitude of the offense lately has created a different situation though. But can't this also be spun the other way and use it as a reason to NOT Pinch hit? Meaning the offense is so inept, that what would all of a sudden change in that situation that would lead CC to believe all of a sudden they are going to get a big hit there when they haven't all series??
  5. This isn't accurate at all. 50/50 shot he gets a good enough bunt down based on what? The fact that there are only two outcomes? If that is the case, then there is a 50/50 shot the pinch hitter gets an actual hit to score two, based on the fact that the outcomes are he other does or he doesn't. We all know that's not how it works though. And that doesn't really get into the flawed idea of bunting the pitcher in that scenario, which in and of itself is probably a terrible idea. Look, the bottom line is, Counsell should have never been in that position to begin with...if Urias advances on the pitch that got away(what the hell was he doing?) Narvaez's double scores him and at that point I'm guessing with a run on the board he keeps Freddy in. So he doesn't bunt...he strikes out instead, or maybe somehow draws a walk, or whatever other outcome you want to imagine(the least likely at that point was a double play), which would have been the absolute worst outcome. If you don't score there, there were still 4 more AB's, maybe someone runs into one later, or something else happens and you score. Counsell also erred with going with Houser there. You have to be mindful of those things...you know the Pitcher spot is coming up next inning and they were likely to PH, if I'm CC, the last guy I want to face in a PH situation is Joc(who it was fair to assume no matter the situation was going to be the first PH off their bench), force their hand so they use anyone but Joc there...bring in the lefty Ashby instead.

  7. I said this at the time to my coworker and it was proven right...I said pulling Freddy here is going to cost them, and lo and behold it did. My thinking was this(and some of it is the baseball coach in me), If Cain doesn't get the run home there's one out(he didn't) I send Peralta up there to bunt...you have a 50/50 shot of getting one down good enough to get the runner home. If he doesn't, so be it, you then rely on Wong to get a two out hit, which is exactly what ended up happening anyway, and now you can't send Freddy back out there. To me, it was an absolute no brainer to leave Freddy in. Counsell f'd it up. He won't say he did, but 100% he did.
  8. You don't say You think this is funny?? You guys fully support the way they construct their offense, and yet continually complain about how bad it is. You do not get to have it both ways. If you're fine with the way they do things, then quit complaining. When you shop at Walmart for bats, you get Walmart quality, what the hell do you expect?? Hope is NOT a strategy, yet it's how the Brewers do things.."hope" that Yelich and Hiura turn it around...Instead of hedging on that and building your offense so that IF they still struggle you have enough quality bats to overcome it. It's not rocket science.
  9. Until they learn that how they construct their offense in the offseason(s) is NEVER going to work, this is what is going to keep happening. How much more evidence do they need?? Last year was just as bad, and Stearns still didn't "get it" apparently.
  10. How dare someone have different expectations for a guy with a $200mil contract that incredibly limits how much money we have to fill other positions on the team. Brewer fans keep using this line as an excuse, and it is complete and utter ********. resources are whatever Attanasio decides to spend. If he wanted to spend $200 million on payroll for a year he could. He just chooses not to...that is NOT the same thing as having limited resources.
  11. You guys constantly bash Yelich(likely because of how much $$ he makes, but who cares), and never bash all the other guys in the lineup that continue to swing at horrible pitches. Criticize fine, but be equal about it. But I said it last game, if/until the crew decides to change their philosophy and buy big bats(more than 1) the only way they will ever win a world series is with an incredible amount of luck. The longer they wait while the stud arms are still young, the smaller the window becomes. I'd have thought they would understand this concept, but it appears as of yet they do not, or simply refuse to do it.
  12. Adam McCalvy @AdamMcCalvy · 25m From MLB Network research: The winner of Game 3 in a best-of-five postseason series tied at 1-1 has gone on to win the series 39 of 54 times (72.2%) entering 2021.
  13. We did, he sucks though. This is required for any team. Even the $200mil Dodgers need this to even make the World Series. I'm talking FA bats, not their own controlled bats.
  14. Look...the reality is, if/until this organization makes a FIRM commitment to get out of their comfort zone and spend $$ on some big bats, they will never win a world series....Unless they get incredibly lucky. The longer they wait to do it while the pitching is still cheap and controllable, the shorter the window gets. Those are just facts.
  15. Once they get back on the road, they will be okay. For some reason, this team is just not good at home.
  16. I find it hilarious yet totally on par with your posts that you say "yeah hindsight is 20/20" and follow it u with "Knew 100% he'd k. Do you realize how that sounds? Don't care...If you actually thought Pablo Reyes was going to do anything positive there than I want some of what you're smoking. The ending was inevitable. Could have gotten the same AB from a Pitcher.
  17. I mean yeah hindsight is 20/20, but Walking Yelich to get to Pablo Freaking Reyes made all the sense in the world. Knew 100% he'd k. He's not a major league player. Period. Even as bad as Yeli has been he could still run into one. Reyes?? MAYBE Maybe a seeing eye single, that ties the game.
  18. I just don't get why, when they are in a hitting slump the way they are right now, some of the guys don't try bunting their way on against the shift...Get on base and see what happens.
  19. Does it frustrate anyone else that with as well as this team has played all year and certainly since the ASB, that they can't even seem to sniff the Dodgers or Giants for the best overall record in the NL?? That's just crazy to me...and the Giants of all teams too.
  20. How many of you thought/think Madison Bumgarner's 7 inning no hitter should count?? I for one don't, it was 7 innings...I feel the same way about a "combined" no hitter. Everything now is about pitch counts, it's ridiculous. As far as having a bigger picture in mind(A world series), you can't have both?? Corbin pitching a no hitter and the brewers winning the World series?? I agree with others who say, I want to see the statistical evidence that allowing Corbin to throw another 10-15 pitches diminishes their WS chances one iota.
  21. How ridiculous, no one cares about a combined no hitter....except maybe in little league. Let him finish it for cripes sakes Craig.
