  1. Is this 8th grade? I double dog dare you. I'm just saying, if you're going to spit off about Yelich's contract counting, when it's NOT even the context I'm talking about, then be man enough to admit that you know DAMN well I'm right about them being able to add payroll(they just refuse to) AND that even two 20 mill/yr bats would help immensely. Stop being a small time thinker and living in the "great effort, everyone gets a trophy" world you currently do, and stop being satisfied with them just making the playoffs. What is this Little League?? "Great effort guys, go get em next year" Rah rah!
  2. How many World series have they played in in that time?? Also, how many LCS's have they even appeared in in those years. I know your a big "stats/analytical" guy so I'm assuming you can provide the answer to this??
  3. I think it was Plush who said it. But you don’t trade Hader if you’re serious about contending. He’s an elite closer. And any return for him will be underwhelming for his value to the team. The fact they don't spend for bats in FA shows they aren't serious about contending. What they are serious about it seems is "hoping" all the breaks go their way when/if they do make the playoffs. If they are truly serious about contending, extend the payroll by a big margin until the stud arms become FA's and after that they can strip the payroll down to nothing. If it gets you a world series it's worth it, it's the best way to do it because using "hope" as their strategy like they have been will continually get them nowhere. Again, this is false. They spent 200+ million on Christian Yelich. Just because he was "already theirs" and you don't personally count that as spending, doesn't mean it doesn't count. Just because he sucks now also doesn't mean it doesn't count. Spending 200+ million on a guy that was, at the time, a premier, top 5 talent is absolutely serious. Just because you don't personally count it because it doesn't meet your very specific, oddly defined criteria, doesn't mean the team isn't serious about contending. You keep bringing this up it seems so you can "beat your chest" that you're right. In a sense you are...but you are PURPOSELY ignoring the whole gist of my posts on this when you KNOW damn well what I'm talking about. Yes they spend $200 million on Yelich...good for them. But the whole point is...we aren't talking TOTAL contracts, it's about YEARLY payroll, and you know this. Now if their YEARLY payroll was $200 million, you'd be spot on. And NO I don't expect them to ever have a payroll that high. Love how you repeatedly cite the "total" amount of his contract like it's the yearly total. Spend 20+ mill on a couple other bats and see what happens. Wanna bet Yelich's contract it would make a HUGE difference?? C'mon bet me..I DARE you. Now you'll say "they can't afford that" I will call total and 100% BS. Add $40 million to the payroll(2 $20 mill bats/avg) payroll is about what $135-$140 million?? And that would be WITH JBJ opting not to decline his option and also Avi NOT declining his option. Wanna tell me again, how it "can't" happen?? Keep beating that drum.

  5. Keep on throwing that spaghetti against the wall. It hasn't stuck the first 1,000 times you did it. It ain't gonna stick now. The Brewers are a small market team, They aren't going to suddenly spend $200 million on player payroll. It just isn't going to happen. You need to understand that at some point. Never once have I believed or thought they would/could spend $200 million..but they COULD spend $150-$175 million. That would make a HUGE difference. Remember, they have gone as high as $125 mill before. They could do this if they wanted to go all in for the next few years and then cut payroll drastically after our window is done and go into a rebuilding phase. That may get us a World Series but they won’t do it because it’s much more profitable to be competitive year after year. Unfortunately that makes a World Series much more difficult. It’s the life of a small market team. Winner winner chicken dinner! This is EXACTLY the approach they should be taking while the young arms are still controllable. This is exactly what I have been pining for.
  6. I bolded the part that's actually the problem. And you've been repeatedly asked to "show your work" to back that claim. Never once have you. What kind of "work" do you want me to show?? I can tell you this...in fact I just did this this morning...Let's assume, JBJ and Avi both decline their options, and let's also assume Cain decides to retire(I think this is a strong possibility)..that frees up 38.5 million in payroll, now let's say you pursue(again these are hypotheticals), Freddie freeman and Nick Castellanos...With Castellanos, Spotrac has his Market value at 21 Million(AAV)...let's say you have to go to 25 mill(AAV to get him signed), now Freddie Freeman has a market value of 28 mill, let's say you give him 30 mill to get him signed. So for $53 million(AAV) you just added to of the best bats in all of baseball...now let's remember you're subtracting the 38.5 mill from Avi, JBJ and Cain, so essentially you're adding $15 million in additional payroll so that puts them about 135 mill or so(I'm guessing) you're telling me that isn't do able?? Not good enough for you?? Let's say Cain doesn't retire you add back in his 17 million 135 + 17 million = 152 million...and boy do things look so much better adding those two bats, right?? Walah!

  8. Sure. A bunch of rational baseball fans are wrong. You are right. Carry on. That was also a completely mature way to react on being called out on a hot take, too. You keep dodging the fact that you KNOW I'm right at how satisfied you are etc. It's pathetic small time thinking. You aren't rational...you drink the kool aid period. You buy into whatever Stearns/Mark A tell you. They can spend more in FA, 100% guaranteed they can, but because they tell you they can't it's "oh ok". What a world.
  9. As you saw above, I was far from the only one who found your take completely laughable. Perhaps that should tell you something. It tells me that the Brewer fan base consist of small time thinkers and being completely satisfied with what they get, and 100% eat up the line about "the payroll" BS that is constantly touted. Such guillable fans. But hey, get excited about the offseason when they sign a low impact bat(s) again, like you always do and go on and on about how great it will be and what a great signing it is/was...If I didn't know any better I'd think you worked for the Brewers as much as you constantly drink the kool aid. Everyone gets a trophy in your world Ron. Admit it.
  10. I see the prince of Brewerfan.net hot takes is at it again I, as a Brewer fan am NOT happy with only making the playoffs, you are, I read your posts all the time and you're giddyness at how things are with just making the playoffs etc etc. It's your choice to feel that way it's also your choice to be satisfied and downright happy with the season they just had(you 100% are). I won't begrudge you that, you do you man, but some of us aren't satisfied with the way it's been the last 4 years and want more, and think it's long past time to have more with the pitching they have.
  11. It’s not 2005 anymore. Role players get 10+ million dollars a year in the major leagues now. That they’re going to be paying a former MVP and two former All Stars 52 million in 2022 isn’t really that big of a deal. It's a big deal when that's half the payroll. I bolded the part that's actually the problem.
  12. It’s not 2005 anymore. Role players get 10+ million dollars a year in the major leagues now. That they’re going to be paying a former MVP and two former All Stars 52 million in 2022 isn’t really that big of a deal. When your roster payroll is 95 million it is. Actually, you hit on the problem...it's not the post you quoted that's the problem.
  13. I'm pretty new to the board so will defer to other posters...but I have to imagine this is up there with one of the worst hot takes ever seen around here. By all means then, keep being satisfied with just "playoff appearances" under Stearns. The bottom line is this...he keeps doing the same thing over and over again and expects different results. As I have said...when you shop at Walmart in the off season(as DS typically does), you're going to get Walmart quality, to expect anything else is fool hardy. For some reason, he doesn't seem to understand that, and every year he keeps doing it, is another year the window gets smaller with the three stud arms.
  14. Tom @Haudricourt · 3m More from Yelich: "It's definitely disappointing. I understand that I've got to play better; I've got to do better. Take the offseason and figure out a way to do that."
  15. I'm ready for him to go...bring in someone else that is willing to be aggressive and do whatever it takes to get this team further than just "in the playoffs".
  16. This +1000 Mark Miller @WisBBYearbook · 29m David Stearns has pushed a lot of the right buttons during his tenure in Milwaukee. Same for Craig Counsell. But a ton of eyeballs will be watching closely this off season. The Brewers' window of opportunity with this pitching won't last forever. Need some big-time bats.
  17. Jon Heyman @JonHeyman · 6m The Mets planned to ask permission to interview Brewers baseball president David Stearns once they were out, so that may come any day. Although, it would be a surprise if Milwaukee OK’ed it. Stearns has only 1 year to go on deal but the Cree surely would like to extend him.
  18. Can we hold you to that? 1000% because on top of that, not only will they NOT sign a couple of big bats, but the minor additions they do make, people here will be raving about like they always do.
  19. If the Crew doesn't go out and buy a couple of big bats this off season then I'm completely done. It's total BS that they keep trotting out LU's like this year after year
  20. See, now this pisses me off...I was texting with my buddy earlier last inning when Ashby was struggling and i said "woody's gotta be available", otherwise when else would you use him?? So Counsell obviously knew he was available, why didn't he come in after Ashby loaded the bases??
