  1. IF that's true, no wonder DS didn't get him...Nothing like lowballing them David.
  2. Dozier would be...meh. Okay, but probably not a needle mover, or at least significantly.
  3. C'mon DS, swoop in here and steal him.
  4. Here's the thing..since none of us know what DS's offer was, what if it turned out he wasn't willing to budge on including say..Orlando Arcia? What if the Orioles never expected Burnes to begin with and offered something like Peralta, Ortiz and Philips and stood firm there and the Orioles kept asking for Arcia and they had a deal and DS wouldn't budge? How would you feel if 5 years down the road when Arcia is a lifetime .240 hitter in MLB and the Brewers haven't made the playoffs in any of those years and word leaks out that had the Brewers just given them Arcia they could have had Manny? I know how I would feel.My point is what if DS was being so stubborn that the Orioles wanted another player that wasn't necessarily a top-shelf player for the Brewers but he was so stubborn he wouldn't give that player up to push the deal over the finish line?
  5. How do you know Machado puts them over the top? I don't for certain..but what I am 100% certain of is Manny would have given them a FAR better chance of putting them over the top THIS YEAR, than anyone they would have included in the trade..because it's probable not a single one of them is even on the MLB roster right now, or if they are..they are not major contributors. It's playing the odds, and in this instance..what they would have given up, had far less odds of being significant contributors to their success this year than Manny would have. It's that simple.
  6. Man you are coming off as really pechulant here with this. Did you have money on the crew getting him or what? Wait until the deadline passes to judge him as a GM this year. You can't say he made a bad move when nothing has been done yet. What if we get degrom because we passed up on Machado? What if we end up with realmuto? We have a couple weeks yet. Patience. What if they could have gotten all 3??
  7. We were in this position last year and you wanted to "go for it" with Sonny Gray. 2 months of Manny Machado doesn't swing the balance of power in the division. Also, is that the end goal. Just...playoffs? You know this, how??
  8. I'm glad you guys are so certain that all these minor leaguers that they now get to keep, will lead the Brewers to several world series titles. Point being, you don't know how often you will be in a position like this...when you are, you go for it...That's what Melvin did when he acquired CC and Greinke, and lo and behold..it got them in the playoffs. Funny how that works, isn't it??
  9. I would bet ANYTHING I own, had Doug Melvin been running this show he would have acquired Manny...no matter what.
  10. That was a terrific trade yes...He STOLE Yelich. However, we will never know, but let's say it came out that DS wasn't willing to include Woodruff, Peralta OR Burnes in the deal, and had he been willing to include any one of them, he would have gotten Machado...isn't that being negligent?? You can part with one of them.
  11. "No stones" Stearns is my new nickname for DS....Impact bats like Manny don't come along real often, and when they do, you HAVE to go for it. If it means including Burnes, so be it. So many of you slobber all over Burnes like he's the next Max Scherzer(hopefully he will). Hell, we don't even know if he will ever even become a solid major league starter, let alone a TOR arm. I mean how many home grown TOR arms have the Brewers had through the years?? Ben Sheets, Teddy Higuera, and the list stops there, at least in recent history. Remember, Jeff D'amico, how he was a "can't miss"?? Or Manny Para, Nick Nuegebauer, all these guys that plenty thought would be a TOR arm, how did that turn out?? Sure, DS will probably make a move or two(i'd argue he has to if for no other reason then to alleviate the 40 man crunch), but they will likely be smaller type moves, like Swarzak, Neil Walker type moves. That's disappointing.
  12. Looks like the Brewers are going to be the bridesmaid here unfortunately...C'mon DS, just do whatever to get it done.. The #Dodgers remain the likely destination over the #Brewers.
  13. Dodgers lead the Manny derby
  14. Ted Thompson won a championship too, and I don’t think anyone would accuse him of being aggressive... With Arodg as QB..he should have won more but his lack of agressiveness is what held him back.. and ironically enough what cost him his job
  15. Way to drop the ball DS..i miss Ron Wolff..he was the last Wisconsin sports GM to be agressive and take some chances..lo and behold..he won a championship too..DS needs to learn..scared money dont make money..

  17. I really didn't get that vibe at all. He wasn't even a board member during the HH19 incidents. look, i have no idea what HH19 is. Im not here to cause trouble. Im a sth in 215. I wear my pennebaker brewer jersey (Mr 3000 character) I apologize, my bad then. I hope your info is correct...May I ask, did you hear this first hand?? Like in person?? Did you see it on an Indians message board?? How was the info obtained??
  18. I'm not entirely positive, but I'm pretty sure he's posting that "info" as a way of mocking HH19. Meaning, he's saying it in jest.
  19. Ken Rosenthal ‏Verified account @Ken_Rosenthal Source: Machado has NOT been traded. Infield sloppy after rain delay; that’s why he was pulled. #Orioles exercising abundance of caution.
  20. Buster Olney ‏Verified account @Buster_ESPN 13m13 minutes ago Source indicated last Sunday his sense was that the Orioles were at the 35-yard-line and driving in the Machado trade conversations. Same source this Sunday: "10-yard-line." PHI, Brewers, Dodgers waiting for the goal line call. As mentioned yesterday, Orioles have narrowed focus.
  21. Jon Heyman ‏Verified account @JonHeyman 1h1 hour ago 5 teams still in for Machado. brewers have made “good offer” and appear to be in top tier with phillies and dodgers. yankees and indians also in but perhaps behind. situation fluid though. 0 replies 1 retweet 0 likes
  22. If the baseline is the players the Orioles are looking at from the Phillies... Buster Olney ‏Verified account @Buster_ESPN 2h2 hours ago Some of the Phillies' prospects being evaluated by the Orioles: Franklyn Kilome, 23 years old, pitcher; Jhailyn Ortiz, 19, outfielder; Arquimedes Gamboa, 20 years old, middle infielder; Adonis Medina, 21, pitcher. It'll be interesting to see if Maikel Franco is part of any offer.
  23. Bob Nightengale ‏Verified account @BNightengale 27m27 minutes ago Rough day for the #Brewers who drop doubleheader to #Pirates and now have lost five straight games. No surprise they’re the most aggressive team in Manny Machado sweepstakes Ken Rosenthal ‏Verified account @Ken_Rosenthal 43m43 minutes ago #Dodgers remain in mix for Machado, sources tell The Athletic. #Brewers in consistent contact with #Orioles; #Phillies as well. Yankees seem less involved. Talks fluid. BAL’s internal politics make nothing a sure thing.
