  1. You wonder if Knebel's command this inning is due to having Bandy in there...a Catcher he almost NEVER works with.
  2. I don't get Counsell...he PH's Villar against a Lefty last inning, now he's PH'ng Aguiar against a RH..Umm craig, it should have been the other way around.
  3. Hate to say it, but this series felt like a sweep or 3-1 series win all along for the Cubs to me..they have had a lot of good fortune since the ASB.
  4. It's incredibly frustrating that the Brewers can smoke balls like that and they end up being Double plays, but the Cubs hit little duck snorts that fall in. Only the Cubs..
  5. 1-0 Cubs...got a feeling that may hold up tonight unfortunately.
  6. This is exactly who you want up in this situation, in this moment...he will deliver.
  7. 8-2 the last ten, gained three games on the Rockies, kept pace with the Cubs, down by a run. That's your definition of crapping the bed? Obviously it's out of their control...but going 8-2 in a stretch of 10 games should absolutely allow you to gain AT LEAST a game on the team ahead of you. The fact that they not only didn't gain ground, but actually LOST games during a freaking 8-2 stretch is incredibly maddening.
  8. Look...I know he doesn't have a lot of choices right now, but I seriously have to question CC's decision to give Wilkerson his first ML start in the middle of a pennant race. Why would you do that?? It's not like he's some flame throwing phenom...he's a 28 year old, that was working in a grocery store not that long ago. Now granted, neither has been very good, but at least Garza and Guerra have pitched in Major league games before, and Garza has pitched in big games. Not saying they would have done any better, but at this time of the year, in this situation(pennant race), as a manager, I'm going with the experience every time, and see what happens.
  9. I know it would be a MAJOR accomplishment for this team to make ANY postseason, but It'd be hard for me to get excited about them being the WC. A one game playoff essentially, where if you lose, it's like you weren't even in the postseason. I want the division so bad.
  10. It is absolutely unfathomable to me, that the Brewers have won(6/8..if they hold on tonight), and not only have they not gained a single game, they have actually LOST two games in the standings in that stretch. That really ticks me off. I mean if that has ever happened in baseball history, this late in a season, it can't be very often. You win 6-8 and LOSE two games in the standings. I'm still irritated that the Cubs have played basically nobody for about the last 6 weeks or so. Even IF the crew wins again tomm night, and the Cubs lose, they are still 2.5 games back going into the Cubs series...that's not close enough..that means you have to win 3-4 to take the lead. 1 1/2 is a whole different game
  11. Because of course Mike Montgomery has a no hitter thru 4..
  12. Yep, it's absolutely disgusting, how the Crew can't get any help. The Cardinals lay an egg in Chicago, but dimes to dollars they will sweep the Crew next time.
  13. What really sucks is the brewers have won 6 of 7 now, and can't get any freaking help from anyone else. Sure, they gained 3 games on the Cubs(doing it themselves), but winning 6-7 certainly deserves a better fate(gaining ground), then what the brewers have gotten out of it. It just sucks...they get hot, and it might not even matter.
  14. Seems like the Cubs will never lose again...really thought the cards would sweep them...but let's be honest, has any team in baseball had as cake of a schedule since the All star break then the Cubs?? particularly the last month or so. It's ridiculous!
  15. If the Indians are good enough to win 18 in a row, the brewers are certainly good enough to win 5 or 6 in a row...that isn't that long of a winning streak FYI. Are the Dodgers so bad they should be on a 10 game losing streak?? My point is, if those two things can happen(incredibly flukey), then the Brewers winning 5 or 6 in a row can/should certainly happen. Especially when they are playing crap teams sandwiched around a good team they just swept...on the road.
  16. I can tell you this...for the shenanigans the Cubs pulled moving this to a night game for competitive reasons..If i'm on the mound, I'm dotting someone, preferably Rizzo, since he stands on top of the plate anyway.
  17. Brian Price sure is an interesting Manager..he uses Iglesias frequently to get more then 3 outs, and his team is one of the worst in baseball. Managers from winning teams hardly ever do that. It's interesting that he gives a damn that much about winning now when his team has been dead and buried for months.
  18. This is one of those games, that if the Crew misses the postseason you can look back on and see it as the dagger..I mean Billy Hamilton, really??
  19. Nope, because they have such a cake schedule, and have had for some time now. It's actually a joke how it ended up setting up for them, but they have been playing nothing but garbage teams.
  20. Thought this was interesting...
  21. Got the go ahead runs on a broken bat soft single, this after winning game 3 against the Bluejays on two wild pitch strikeouts allowing the runners to reach and eventually score. What other team has that kind of BS luck?? You're right, only the Cubs. It's sickening.
  22. I in no WAY intimated I wanted the brewers to acquire Jay Bruce when I started this thread. Everyone seems ot think that's what I implied. It's not...What I implied is DS is still sitting there doing nothing to try to improve the gaping holes this team has in CF and at 2B. You cannot tell me there haven't been guys put on waivers that he could have acquired for next to nothing at those two positions. August deals generally do not cost much in terms of talent to give up, so I don't see the harm in him acquiring some one.
  23. Meanwhile, DS sits idly by and watches this punchless offense flail away in the middle of a pennant race. Don't tell me guys aren't out there to acquire right now either. August deals almost never require major prospects either.
