  1. I just hope something breaks tonight. I am too excited to wait much longer. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. FWIW, Olney says Escobar is NOT part of the deal.
  3. Buster Olney on sportscenter right now. 6 other teams are involved with CC, but he has talked to executives from those teams and they all think he is heading to Milwaukee and that he won't make another start for Cleveland. CC would be scheduled to start again Monday, so I would say if this gets done, it will probably be by tomorrow at the latest so he has time to get here, get acclimated, then start on Monday for the Brewers. Holy crap can you imagine the interest for tickets to that game??
  4. Maddux for Gwynn makes so much sense it probably wont happen. Give it to them and get it done. Worry about next year, next year. The chance to win is now. There may not be a chance next year or the year after.
  5. All I know is, with all this talk the Brewers better get CC or I am going to be extremely angry. It's not nice to tease like this. What else some people are forgetting is by acquiring CC, you are also providing insurance should Sheets get hurt for any amount of time this year. I don't care what the price is, prospects are just that, prospects, could pan out, could be busts. CC is a proven commodity and though nothing is guaranteed, you don't think the fear of god would be put into the Cubs and their organization if the Brewers trot out Sheets and Sabathia every five days?? This would then force their hands into acquiring AJ Burnett(which wouldn't bother me at all), and likely overpay for him. I love the fact that the team I follow is a MAJOR player in trying to acquire the best available arm at the trade deadline. I'll be even happier when I wake up one morning and it's a done deal. The sooner the better, you have to get as many starts as possible out of him.
  6. Why not throw Dave Bush into the deal as well?? Not saying Cleveland would be interested but why not?? If the Brewers got CC, it would be to take Bush's spot in the rotation anyway, and it adds another player to the deal. Whatever it takes to help get it done.
  7. Just saw the same thing. I know I am probably setting myself up for disappointment, but this thing is going to get done, I can feel it. Perhaps before the ASB. How awesome would it be to come out of the ASB with Sheets and Sabathia, back to back in the rotation?? The sooner this gets done, the better. The Crew then gets more starts out of him. Get it done Doug!!!
  8. That is the word on their board(s) as well on the Reds radio broadcast. Nothing is known officially yet as details are still being worked out apparently, but the speculation is it's Bronson Arroyo going to Philadelphia or perhaps Atlanta. Sounds like more may be known tonight.
  9. Assuming the Cubs lose tonight(and they'll probably shell Lincecum now), that would make 4 games on this road trip that the Brewers had a chance to gain ground and failed to do so. They could be .5 game out. There is not a worse team in baseball at capitalizing on the 1st place teams losses then the Brewers. How exactly do they intend to gain ground that way?? Man, I have never been so frustrated.
  10. Yuck....if that is all the Brewers do at the deadline, I think you will see many thousand angry Brewer fans wanting Melvin's head on a platter. If they acquire a Pitcher it better be one of four guys in order of preference: 1. Sabathia2. Harden 3. Bedard 4. Burnett
  11. You've got to be kidding me?? Mike Fontenot?? Does anyone want to dispute now that the Cubs have a horseshoe you know where this year??
  12. Yes!!!! Ray Durham with a 3 run jack to tie it in SF off Marmol!!! Come on Torres, close this out!!
  13. Does anyone else barely even get nervous when Torres comes in?? It's definitely a great feeling from Turnbow and even Cordero.
  14. Great, Cardinals just won in the bottom of 9 on Glaus's 2nd HR of the night and tat he same time Soto doubled in two for the Scrubs.
  15. Come on Mike, would it be too much to ask for you to be clutch twice in one night??
  16. Seriously, Mota is up to come in in the 9th in a tie game assuming the game stays tied heading to the bottom of the 9th??
  17. I'm beginning to think the Crew is going to have to start using Torres in the 8th and 9th to feel relatively secure about holding a lead. Brian Fuentes, your table is ready.
  18. Please PLEASE no Mota in the 8th Ned. I'd rather see Gagne to be honest. Go with Torres for 2 if you have to, just no Mota.
  19. Great job Shouse!!! I'm calling it right now, Prince is going yard in his next AB.
  20. I hate Jim Edmonds. Why is it that as soon as the Cubs picked him up, he's become Hank Aaron II???
  21. Uh oh, the Dbacks bullpen is getting the call. This is bad news for the Crew.
  22. Whoops...my fingers were thinking faster then my brain. I knew it was Haren. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/embarassed.gif
  23. And emptied your farm for two guys: one you control for two months, the other you control for 1.5 seasons. When Sabathia leaves, and if Sheets leaves, you have nothing to help you acquire pitching. Sorry, but I want to win NOW!!! You don't know what the future holds and this might be the Brewers best chance at making the playoffs again in quite sometime. I do what I have to do to give me the BEST chance(not a guaranteed chance, nothing is) of making the postseason right now. I'm done waiting, and I think the Brewers are too. There is no way you'd have to empty the farm system for these two guys anyway. Sabathia should be able to be gotten for one of the kids(Gamel or LaPorta) and Weeks. I'd even gladly give them Bush if they want him. For Roberts, I'll give them Weeks(if he doesn't get dealt in a CC deal), and any other prospect minus Gamel(if LaPorta is already gone in a CC deal). The Orioles would be fools not to do that.
