  1. The logical assumption to me would be if the two team are talking deal, that it would be for Haren. The Brewers need Pitching, and Scherzer could step back into their rotation to replace Haren. The Dbacks need hitting.
  2. The ideal trade(s) for the Brewers to make would be 1. To acquire Sabathia 2. Acquire Brian Roberts to replace Weeks(if he's included in a deal). You've improved yourself immensely at two spots.
  3. This game, the one you're watching tonight, isn't over yet. We just got a run across without swinging the bat. I'm sorry that you're going to lose your bet, or bragging rights for your ASG standings prediction, or whatever, but don't call it over until it's over. Have you watched much Brewer baseball this year??? It's over. This team never comes back from deficits this late in games. This inning was there chance, and they blew it. Believe me, I hope I am wrong and they do comeback, but I have seen this same story many many many times this year, and it ends the same almost every time.
  4. There's a lot of baseball left. The Brewers played the Braves at home, where they are very good, and the Twins, also at home, and they've been very good everywhere lately. They lost some tough games against some good teams. There isn't alot of time left if I want my goal of being within no more then 2 GB and leading the WC by the ASB.
  5. With Qualls coming in, I PH Craig "Mr. bases loaded" Counsell here. I wonder if ned will do the same???
  6. And of course the Cards won today and the Cubs are now up 3-0. This is why it absolutely kills you when you had a chance to gain more ground 3 times last week and couldn't capitalize. Just like that 3.5 GB in the WC again and 5.5 in the division.
  7. Ballgame....way to go Dave. As I said, Doug better not let that phone leave his ear until C.C. is a Brewer.
  8. Great job Dave, give it right back. Well done. Doug...oh Doug, your ear better be glued to that phone for the next month and it better not leave your ear until CC is a Brewer.
  9. How fricking frustrating this week has been for the Crew. They had a chance to trim 3 more games off the Cubs lead (Thursday, Friday, Today), and could be a mere 1.5 games back. Since winning those 3 would also mean the crew would be unbeaten on this road trip that's a bit unrealistic I suppose, but I think you get my point....You must, I mean absolutely must cash in on opportunities to gain ground whenever you can.
  10. How are the Twins a team that the Brewers were "supposed" to beat? They're a 1.5 games out of first place in their division and came into the series with a 9 game winning streak. All things considered, I'd say the Brewers and Twins are two teams that are very similar -- hardly a team that the Brewers should just assume victory against. It's been a disappointing series for sure, but the Brewers are still in pretty good shape as far as this road trip goes. 3-3 heading into Arizona's a bit better than a lot of us were expecting for this trip. Maybe so that the Brewers trip has been 3-3 so far, and under most circumstances that's pretty good, but I don't look at it like that. I look at it from the perspective that 2 of those losses they failed to capitalize on Cubs losses, and possibly a 3rd, pending tonight's outcome. To me it's when you lose them. That's the frustrating part to me. Hard to catch the Cubs if you don't take advantage of your opportunities when they are presented. Is there a worse team in baseball at failing to capitalize in those types of situations then the Brewers?? The Cardinals have been failing to capitalize on Cubs losses for the past month or so -- they haven't been able to get closer than 3 games back for awhile now. The Diamondbacks have been trying to give away the NL West for the better part of a month, and the Dodgers still can't get over .500 to take over the division lead. I agree that it's frustrating, but there's stretches like this for every team. The Brewers sure were capitalizing on their last homestand by sweeping Toronto when the Cubs were being swept by the Rays. Even if the Brewers go 5-5 on the road trip, they get 10 games at home before the All-Star break against some pretty bad teams. If memory serves me correctly, the Cubs have 7 more road games after tonight, so the Brewers will have at least one series at home while the Cubs are still on the road. There'll be plenty of chances to trim that lead down, and really, I'm more concerned with catching the Cards for the 2nd best record in the NL right now. Any ground they gain on the Cubs is gravy. I know there is plenty of time and they have a "easy" homestand coming up, but in my "perfect" world, I wanted the Brewers to have caught and passed the Cubs by the ASB. Unrealistic?? Probably, but certainly mathematically possible, and still is, but it doesn't help when you don't cash in your opportunities.
  11. I agree with most of that. I definitely dont think we were supposed to win this series, but on paper we supposed to win when sheets in going against slowey. Ding ding ding!!! We have a winner!!! I stand by what I say, the Brewers SHOULD win series against teams like the Twins, who they are more talented than, even if most of you don't see that. Ask any baseball expert and ask them who's roster they would rather have.

  13. Ball game....thanks Brewers. Two series against the Twins and two series losses. Well played. When you lose two series to teams like the Twins, you don't deserve to be a division Champ. You beat the teams you are supposed to beat.
  14. Unnacceptable that the best Pitcher in the NL can give up 2 runs and his offense can't hit a guy that throws nothing but strikes.
  15. Absolutely terrible approaches at the plate today against a guy that throws 90-92 tops.
  16. I don't understand why they can't hit Kevin Fricking Slowey, he has nothing!!!
  17. Hart, Branyan and Hall will get it done next inning.
  18. Look, I agree, I don't care how the Brewers get in either as long as they do. I guess I just get tired/frustrated by seeing all the people that really believe the Cubs are this juggernaut that can't be stopped. Further, it really annoys me that people refer to them as the best team in the NL. They have the best RECORD, that does not make them the best team in the NL. Personally, and call me a homer if you will, but I truly believe the Brewers have the more talented team. The Cubs have just been fortunate that so many of their players had really REALLY scorching hot starts to the season. Things like that can't/won't continue. Eventually guy like Ryan Theriot, Jim "Babe Ruth" Edmonds, & Ryan Dempster will go back to being exactly those players. That is, mediocre ML talent at best.
  19. Will you keep saying this if/when the Brewers get to 2 games back, or then 1 game back?? What about when they are tied for the Division lead?? Will you still believe then that the Brewers best chance to the playoffs is the Wild Card?? What about after the Crew has gone out and acquired a stud pitcher to solidify the rotation?? What about last year when the Brewers had an 8 game lead on the Cubs?? Did you then feel the Cubs's best shot at the playoffs was the WC?? At what point will you stop believing the WC is the Crew's best option for the playoffs, and stop believing the Cubs are the best team in baseball since the 60's?? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  20. When you give up HR's to two guys that have hit a combined 7 on the year, you get what you deserve.
  21. Yup, this is headed for a bottom of the ninth heartbreaker. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  22. Great, and now the Brewers bats have gone silent. This isn't going to end well I'm afraid. You can tell the Twins are red hot though. Seemingly every flair, every blooper, every softly hit ball has found a hole.
  23. This is big boy baseball. Are you watching Gomez and Casilla??
