  1. And you know this because??? Look, I don't give a rats behind what the #s say or what the %'s are, but one thing I do know, the Cubs are not as good as their record. They are no way the best team in baseball. Do you really and truly believe that Ryan "gas can" Dumpster will pitch this way all year, or that they will continue to win games by getting HBP with the bases loaded?? Or Reed Johnson(who is terrible against righties) homering off the best righty in the AL in Roy Halliday?? At the end of the day they are still the Cubs and the baseball gods will have their say before this is done. Oh yeah and still 10 games head to head vs. the Cubs. 7 at MP I might add.
  2. It's nice to see the Brewers lay a HUGE egg to start this homestand when they had a chance to really capture some momentum. Great job Crew!! 8.5 GB now. Stick a fork in them. When you can't win a series from a team like the Twinkies at home, you don't deserve to go to the post season. How unbelievably horrible.
  3. They also didn't play anyone in that stretch.
  4. Alfonso Soriano will be out a MINIMUM of 6 weeks with a minimally displaced fracture in his hand. How will I sleep tonight knowing this news??
  5. I'd feel better if it were Aram or Zambrano.
  6. Why the hell does Ned allow the rookie to hit in that situation against Oswalt?? That is just dumb.
  7. Oswalt is really dealing tonight. Unfortunately for him, Billy will tie the game with one swing in the 7th.
  8. I think it's an easy call.....Shouse gets the 7th....You've got a lefty, then a PH for Francis, then 3 more leftys stacked back to back to back.
  9. Even had they not choked last night, tonight would be much more tolerable. What really concerns me now is after a team has been on a roll like the Crew was, and then to completely meltdown in an instant like they did last night, that can very easily spiral things out of control for a long time. I have a really bad feeling that they will be back to .500 and about 8 out at the end of the Astros series. That is what was so tough about having an 8-1 home stand and actually losing a game in the standings. Under most circumstances you would think that an 8-1 home stand would net you a gain of a minimum of two to three games in the standings. They actually even lost a game.
  10. How frustrating....2 nights in a row with a chance to game a game on the Cubs, and they don't get it done. You just knew after last night's debacle, it wasn't going to go well tonight. Suppan tomorrow vs. Francis. I hate the smell of sweep in the air. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif The Brewers should be proud, they lost a series(with a chance to get swept) by the team with the worst record in baseball. Only the Brewers could pull off something like that after an 8-1 home stand.
  11. I'll be brutally honest here as much as it pains me, but when you make Greg Reynolds look like Greg Maddux and then allow almost 9.00 ERA Jorge De La Rosa set you down weakly 1-2-3 after a lead off hit, you don't deserve to make the post season. Good baseball teams pound pitching like that.
  12. They are going to let Jorge school them aren't they?? How embarrassing.
  13. The question is why, why why?? Baseball is a simple game....see the ball, hit the ball, throw the ball, catch the ball. I just don't understand why it's so difficult for the Brewers to win on the road. Baseball is not really a homefield advantage sport like basketball or football are, where crowd noise can influence certain plays etc. Unfortunately, I will probably be 10 ft under for many years before ever finding out the answer to that. It really is mystifying.....
  14. Unfortunately, we have all seen this movie before and it never ends well. Brewers crawl back into it(they'll get within a run) only to see the Rockies score another 2 or 3 and put it away again. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  15. Well......Fuentes IS a lefty, so maybe there is hope. Although with Kendall leading off then Weeks, probably not much. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  16. I wonder if anyone at FSN even realizes it?? LOL
  17. I get what you're saying, and I'm not necessarily disagreeing, but . . . isn't it just pure speculation to judge them on something besides their record and their play? Granted, that is all there is to judge them on right now, but one has to consider the fact that they have played more home games so far then any other team in baseball. One also has to consider that they have played only 12 games against teams in 2nd place or higher in the standings. It also helps that they have already played the Pirates 12 times. I am not convinced they are legit. We will see what they do in the next stretch of 32 w/ 23 being on the road. My guess is, they will regress to the norm.
  18. What is incredibly frustrating is watching this team play it's best stretch of baseball since early in the year by winning 5 of 6 on this home stand, and not even gaining a game in the standings. Worse yet, they actually LOST a game in the standings. That's really tough to make up any ground when you can win at that clip and it's basically all for naught in the standings. Under normal circumstances a 5-6 stretch probably gains you a minimum of two games. Fortunately, the Cubs aren't as good as their record indicates or as good as they have been playing. Needing to go on the road for 23 of their next 32 should bring them back to reality. Equally important, is that the Brewers continue to win with the next 12-15 being at home. If they play at the same clip in the next 12 as they are right now and go 10-12 and they fail to gain any ground during the Cubs long road trip, then it's probably over as sad as that seems. Fear not, they will gain some ground as the Cubs are mediocre to below mediocre on the road, and if the crew can get this thing to 4 GB or less by the ASB, they should be alright.
  19. Ok, I feel a Prince bomb to lead off the 11th....he's well overdue. Ok, how about a Double instead??
  20. That is when they play 18 of 24 at home. After this stretch we will definitely know if they have any shot at getting back into this race. It is truly a make or break stretch for them.
  21. Seriously?? Ned just double switched Hart out of the game?? He has completely lost it. Good job Ned, remove your best hitter with runs in scoring position(which may be huge later, but probably not), for a slap hitter?? Unbelieveable.....
  22. FYI, heard Gord Ash on AM1250 earlier and he said that Gagne is due back in Washington by 5PM, and he will be further examined then, and they will make a determination if he will go on the DL. He said there are some other things "we could do" that they discussed as a staff last night. Certainly got the impression that a trade was not a possibility, although he's not going to come right out and say it either.
  23. 6 to 7 games under. This HAS to be the most disappointing team in all of baseball so far this year. Injury to Yo or not. I guess we should've known last year was to good to be true. This is the Brewers after all.
  24. Well, better hope they win game 2 because this one is o-v-e-r.
