  1. Announcers said a combination of a slow runner and good arm of Fukudome ended the inning. Why doesn't that combination lead the 3rd base coach to hold him?
  2. Braun just kept one too. Fans there have dumped crap on him in the past, IIRC...might have something to do with it.
  3. I hate these red hats. I looked up to see a double play ball and for a second I'm thinking that the Cardinals are going to turn a double play...
  4. It was nice of the umpire to wait for the retaliation to occur, before giving the warnings, otherwise the team that does it first gets a freebie...or it carries over to another game.
  5. Don't need to go back 10 years. From 2004-2008 Kendall is bating .292 vs. Z and Hardy is at .105. Not that this necessarily means much, either.
  6. I don't think I changed the meaning...I did not mean to imply that my comment about some worrying too much about batting orders was meant for you. I was agreeing with you that maybe he pays too much attention to individual match-up stats that, perhaps, don't mean, but then pointing out that all the fretting about batting order is also about something that does not mean much.
  7. Perhaps, but then folks here fret a bit too much over batting orders. Isn't the impact of batting order on expected runs very minor?
  8. Last time I was there I was able to park on the street for free, maybe a 15-20 minute walk from the park. This was for a day game and in the area we parked, it required a permit after 5 pm, or something like that. Game was a bit longer than expected and started getting worried about that but we ended up getting back to the car about 15 minutes before the limit, IIRC. This was a few years ago an parking restrictions may have changed. (this will not work for those who consider 1/2 mile to be "quite a hike", though) With some of the paid parking, they don't really care if they screw you after they get your money. As we were leaving we saw people standing around some $20 parking, where they had jammed the cars in bumper to bumper, people were parked in and would be unable to get out until 2 or 3 other people decided to come and get their cars. Metra does run all the way to Kenosha, btw.
  9. An early error for the Mets, despite the required bus ride http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. PA's would be a better indicator of how much each has been used, Gamel has walked 3 times in those 7 days, so he actually has 10 PA's to Hall's 9.
  11. So there you have it...I've said this several times here that the only thing that will completely solve this to close the roof for all games, when there might be a chance of a shadow. Is this what some of you want? The players want to play in a dome, so that they have the same consistent conditions for all games, the fans who actually pay the bills wanted (and at least some of us still want) a ballpark that would be open on nice days and closed only for rain or cold...even if the players consider that to be suboptimal conditions. I'm quite sure that just doing something about the windows is not going to be the end of this, if the players are now set on whining and complaining about it on a regular basis. The windows are not the only source of shadows. Do that, which I do not necessarily have a problem with, and next they will say that fixed some of the more minor problems but does not solve the biggest problem, which is the roof shadows. BTW, can someone explain to me how it is that ivy is creating glare? Braun (or the reporter) also seem to be confused as it says tint the windows or close the roof as if one or the other will solve the problem. Only doing both would actually solve it under all circumstances. Last night, with the roof closed it was a bit too warm in the park and that was on a cool night, we all know how it can get in there on a warm and/or humid day with the roof closed and the park full of fans. I'd much rather see any extra money spent on changing some of the fixed glass windows so that that could be opened to increase ventilation, putting in A/C, or vastly increasing the amount of fresh air that the ventilation system is capable of bringing in...IOW, things aimed at fan comfort. Things I think I would have no problem with them doing about this issue are: Reducing the number of day games. How about going to 6 pm starts for the weekday "get-away" games and move sunday starts to noon? That would improve things somewhat. Figure out a way to get rid of the glare on the batters eye. Possibly do somethng about light coming through the windows (depending on what it is that they would actually do). The roof shadow is not something that cannot be completely solved in any reasonable way.
  12. However, the starters outside of Gallardo do. In addition "unearned" runs also must be overcome. Our other starters look like they are averaging about 3.5 runs given up per start. If a reasonable assumption is that the bullpen is going to give up maybe 1.5 runs in the rest of the game, that would mean 6 runs would be needed to win. I'd guess, the need for 6 or more runs to win is probably not all that uncommon for this team. The stats show an average of 4.6 runs given up per game for the Brewers. Cubs and Cardinals are giving up about 4.2 per game, so far.
  13. He did pitch well enough to get the win, though. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  14. He should be playing just about every game until he shows that it is not reasonable.
  15. So, for example, you actually want to blame McClung for the lack of offense tonight?
  16. Maybe Hall should try pitching. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. They did offer about as much as they could to CC and also made an offer (arbitration???) to Sheets. Thank goodness Sheets turned them down given that he was hurt and would not have pitched, at least to this point in the season.
  18. I'm now expecting to hear about 20 comments from the announcers about "manufacturing" runs during the remainder of the game and post game.
  19. I thought that was a pretty risky call sending Counsell, but good thing they went for it.
  20. Sure, which means that all the fan areas, except sky boxes and the club level concourse are not air conditioned. My understanding has always been that none of the concourses (aside from club) or fan seating areas (aside from the enclosed sky boxes) have A/C and, of course, neither does the playing field.
  21. There you go Fielder says the players who work here just have to deal with it. I did not read that as Fielder "complaining" about it, he just noted the existence of the issue and indicated it was something that comes with "working" here. Never having rain delays and never having to play in cold miserable weather is something else that also comes with working here...so it is a trade-off.
  22. No exxageration there, it looks like those two "gnats" have only made one out between the two of them all day.
